• Tell GOP Senate candidates to disavow Trump and his attacks on women
We've had enough of Donald Trump and his campaign's disgusting verbal and physical violence against women. That's why women and men alike are demanding that our government representatives either reject Trump and his campaign, or be branded a misogynist and be held responsible for the violence against women that his campaign foments. Consider just a few examples: **Stephen Bannon, the new head of Trump's campaign, was accused of domestic violence. **Roger Ailes, the former Fox News chairman ousted last month over charges of sexual harassment, is helping Trump prepare for the debates. **Trump is claiming that Hillary Clinton "lacks the mental and physical stamina" to be president—a not very veiled strategy to suggest that she's weak because she's a woman. **And let’s not forget, Donald Trump calls women "fat pigs" and "disgusting animals,” and famously said, "Women, you have to treat them like sh*t." How, in good conscience, can GOP Senate candidates continue to stand with Donald Trump amid all of this ugliness? How can they reconcile their actions which create the conditions that make his poisonous campaign still viable? The answer is simple: They can't.

  • Stop TISA, the secret privatization pact that poses a threat to democracy and our climate
Fair Trade activists have been excited about our apparent victory in stopping TPP, but there are more battles ahead. Perhaps the most insidious is TISA, the secret privatization pact that poses a threat to democracy. TISA stands for Trade in Service Agreement. and like the TPP, TISA is being negotiated in secret, even though it could have a major impact on countries that sign on. According to Global justice Now, "The Trade in Services Agreement (TISA) is a proposed international trade treaty between 23 Parties, including the European Union and the United States. "Unlike most trade deals, TISA is about services, not goods. This means that it has serious consequences for things that have little to do with trade, affecting areas like labour rights, banking regulation and whether public services like electricity and water are run for the benefit of the people or by profit-making multinational companies. "Five reasons to oppose TISA "It could lock in privatisation of public services. TISA contains mechanisms, such as ‘ratchet’and ‘standstill’ clauses, that make it much harder to reverse privatisations and will allow greater market access for foreign companies. "It will be terrible for the climate. TISA entrenches the idea of technological neutrality on energy policy. This could stop countries favouring renewables over coal, oil and gas. "It will mean more casino capitalism. TISA will undermine efforts to regulate the financial sector and avoid another crisis. "It threatens online privacy. TISA promises to hand much more power to the likes of Google and Microsoft to move personal data across borders to countries with lax data protection laws. "It will be especially damaging to countries in the global south. TISA includes countries likePakistan that could be hindered in developing public services. It also poses a threat to countries outside TISA, because, once approved, rich countries will seek to impose TISA-style measures globally through the WTO." • Provide Pennsylvanians Access to Treatment for Chronic Lyme Disease
In 2015, there were 10,817 new cases of confirmed Lyme Disease reported in Pennsylvania, ranking Pennsylvania the highest in the nation in confirmed cases for the last five years. In 2015, the Department of Environmental Protection published a study that confirmed a high risk of Lyme disease in every county of the Commonwealth. Up to 40% of Lyme Disease patients may go on to suffer from a complex, chronic/persistent disease. Yet they are being denied access to, and insurance coverage for, diagnostics and treatments, leaving thousands of Pennsylvanians with no choice but to bear the financial burden of treatment out-of-pocket. Many Pennsylvanians are left suffering, untreated, and/or in financial ruin. We are facing a serious epidemic and need to provide Pennsylvanians access to diagnostics and treatment of complex/chronic Lyme Disease.

  • Donald Trump Is Not Who We Are
Donald Trump is trying to erase months of racist rhetoric, by changing his stance on immigration. It’s more important than ever that we stand together against the racial, religious and other intolerance that Donald Trump’s policies and rhetoric promotes. It is putting Latinos, Muslim-Americans, those with disabilities, and so many others directly at risk. If we speak with one voice now, we can stand up for those in our community most at risk from Trump’s rhetoric and policies, and defeat his brand of hate once and for all. Join us in saying: Donald Trump is Not Who We Are.

  • Support Fire Fighter Emotional Health
Lt. Ryan Elwood was a young first responder, happy, full of life, and with a bright future. A series of personal events, as well as a particularly disturbing trauma call, lead him to end his life on September 8th, 2015. Suicide rates among firefighters and first responders are alarmingly higher than other professions and the training that they receive does not prepare them for the emotional toll it will take on them. Furthermore, the stigma and silence that surrounds emotional well-being in the fire service discourage those first responders and firefighters to admit or seek the help needed to keep them well. Critical Incident Stress Management needs to be included in fire service training and as an overarching theme in all fire service training categories.

  • We Demand Immediate Reform of Nuclear Launch Approval Process
This petition is about challenging fear rhetoric and using reason to stop any single person from having unchecked unilateral nuclear authority. Whether you are afraid that Clinton will nuke Iran or Trump will nuke the world, it would seem logical to take steps now to pass legislation to remove the threat rather than harp on a threat that can be remedied through legislative action before inauguration day. I encourage everyone who believes that unchecked unilateral nuclear authority is a serious threat to national security to sign and share this petition. I also encourage you to contact your representatives, senators, and President Obama, demanding this issue be addressed before they leave office in January. I also encourage all to vote their conscience and for the best candidate and party that represents their interests. We only change things by changing things. And that sometimes requires thinking outside the box, as Rep. Ted Lieu has done in proposing this legislation.

  • @SenMikeLee: Oppose the Saudi arms deal!
On August 8, the Obama administration notified Congress [1] of intent to sell $1.15 billion of weapons to Saudi Arabia, including tanks that would replace tanks destroyed in Saudi Arabia's war against Houthi rebels in Yemen. We urge Senator Mike Lee to oppose this deal and to co-sponsor a resolution of disapproval against it. Past Congressional concerns about Saudi Arabia's war in Yemen have not been addressed. In October, Members of Congress wrote to the Administration [2] urging greater efforts to avoid civilian casualties in Yemen and achieve a diplomatic solution to the conflict. In June, 204 Members of the House, including 40 Republicans and all but 16 Democrats, voted to block the transfer of cluster bombs to Saudi Arabia after reports of their use in civilian areas in Yemen. [3] Yet, since the proposed arms deal was announced, a Saudi airstrike on a school in Yemen killed 10 children [4] – some as young as 6-years-old – and a Saudi airstrike on an MSF hospital in Yemen killed 11 people. [5] On August 30, 64 Members of the House signed a letter urging that the Saudi arms deal be delayed so that Congress can fully consider it. [6] Urge Senator Lee to cosponsor legislation to oppose the Saudi arms deal by signing our petition. • Tell President Obama to thank Donald Trump for endorsing his immigration policies ;-)
Donald Trump is desperate. He's so desperate he's started to flip-flop on the issue he founded his campaign on: hatred and fear of immigrants. Asked about what he’d do with the millions of undocumented immigrants who contribute to our communities and live among our families, Donald Trump is now saying he’ll do what President Obama is doing, but “with a lot more energy.” Who knows where Donald Trump really stands, or even less where he’ll stand tomorrow, but there’s one thing President Obama can do to make Donald Trump’s head explode today. He can take credit for Donald Trump’s latest shift and thank him for showing he’s right. Unfortunately, Donald Trump moving towards President Obama on immigration is not good news. Not enough people outside of immigrant communities know that President Obama has deported more people than any other president in history. If Donald Trump were to do the same, except with “more energy” he’d deport even more people than President Obama. If President Obama thanks Donald Trump for his latest shift, it will draw attention to just how tough on immigrants President Obama has been, and give a chance to whomever is elected in a few months to make a clean break and start in a new direction. Tell President Obama to thank Donald Trump for his latest shift in immigration. Also, don’t be afraid to tweet Donald Trump about it either. We all know how much Donald Trump loves tweets.
