• Tell 21st Century Fox : Release The Findings Of Your Investigation of Sexual Harassment at Fox News
I’ve seen first-hand the impact of workplace sexism and sexual harassment. No one deserves to work in a place where he or she is objectified, belittled, and harassed with no recourse and no support. This case is so visible—and the alleged harassment is so extensive and alarming—it’s imperative that the investigation and its results don’t get swept under the rug. 21st Century Fox is already giving Ailes a massive payout just to walk away—reportedly in excess of $40 million! If 21st Century Fox is truly taking these allegations seriously, they’ll release the findings of their investigation to the public. Since former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson filed a sexual harassment suit against the network’s chief executive Roger Ailes, dozens of other women have come forward with stories of Ailes’ sexism, harassment, and worse. Disturbingly, many of the allegations include details of how other Fox executives knew about and enabled his harassment of women at the network over his decades-long career. Getting rid of Ailes was a long overdue start. But we've long passed the point where Fox News can be trusted to run their own internal review, considering the toxic message of misogyny and sexism the network has cultivated over the years.

  • Legalize Cannabis in NC
This petition was formed by an organization called HerbanRevol+ (Herban Revolt). We seek TOTAL liberation of nature from our "government". The first task is to legalize marijuana both recreationally and medicinally. We refuse to continue to allow the men and women in power to dictate the direction of our lives. Popular Sovereignty is our defense!

  • Governor Hutchinson: RESTORE VOTING RIGHTS to Arkansas Citizens
I have a relative who is an ex-felon living in a southern state. The reinstatement of voting rights for ex-felons, and preservation of voting rights for non-felons!, is a personal issue for me as well as something I think every citizen of the US should be concerned with. Wholesale rescinding of voters' rights, and the placing of obstacles in the way of justice, fly in the face of American values.

  • Revert Fannie Mae's changes to the treatment of Student Loans
This is about those taking out student loans again being disadvantaged for taking out loans to further one's education. If one's monthly payment plan under an Income base repayment plan is $350, one's payment shouldn't be $2000 for the calculation of one's DTI for purchasing a home.

  • Mitch McConnell: the Zika Virus is dangerous
The Zika Virus is a major health crisis. Women and families who want to start families deserve and have a right to demand that government act to minimize and ultimately eliminate the pain and tragedies the Zika Virus will bring to many families.

  • Petition by Members of the National Association of Social Workers To Hold a Special Meeting of th...
PETITION BACKGROUND [NOTE: When you sign the petition, please include in the Comment field the name of your NASW Chapter.] The Coalition of Concerned Members of NASW, who is initiating this petition, is committed to preventing the consolidation of the Association’s 55 Chapters into its National administrative apparatus. Legal consultation with leading corporate governance lawyers has supported the position of the Coalition that NASW's National Board has overstepped its authority, based on NASW Bylaws, to implement a sweeping reorganization of the Association referred to as "Modernization". Instead, it is the responsibility of the Association’s Delegate Assembly to decide on any such guiding policies of the Association. The Coalition believes that such a reorganization will create a more dysfunctional top-down organization, with far fewer democratic checks and balances, and will result in an Association much less responsive to members in each of its Chapters. It, therefore, rejects the decision of the Board to implement the ‘Modernization’ initiative, and insists that the Delegate Assembly, as representative of the members, is the legitimate body to decide on any such reorganization of the Association. Furthermore, the Coalition recognizes the importance of enshrining the existence and functioning of the Delegate Assembly (DA) as the exclusive body entitled to set overarching policies of the association and create or revise bylaws. It is far more representative of the members than the National Board, which should be focused more on operational matters. We believe that such a simple direct statement, amended to our Articles of Incorporation, will provide the DA authority to decide on its decision making rules, e.g. Robert’s Rules of Order, how often it meets, and how it is conducted, live or online.

  • Reasonable Growth on El Camino in San Mateo
San Mateo needs more housing, but the proposed Hillsdale Terraces project has issues with scale, parking, traffic and public safety. Only a smaller structure makes sense. (Copy and paste this link into your browser to see what it would look like): https://www.dropbox.com/s/iiukhmp7n83dezw/Visualize%205%20Stories.jpg?dl=0 SCALE: Look at the photo link above. The project overpowers the street. There is *no* 5 story residence on the El Camino sidewalk for 5 miles in either direction. All tall projects are either set back with landscaping or have recessed upper floors. PARKING: 51 cars will look for on-street parking every night. That is because there are only 1.3 spaces instead of the standard of 2.0 per average 2 bedroom unit. The nearby streets are already full. TRAFFIC: The traffic for all 74 units plus two potential restaurant ground floor uses will exit and enter on 27th and 28th Avenues just in front of El Camino. As they cross 27th and 28th, they will block traffic. SAFETY: Lot constraints force the project so close to the sidewalk that the typical curb cut for a bus stop is impossible, so buses must stop in El Camino traffic. With the building out of Bay Meadows and the pending 28th Avenue connector to it, there will be greatly increased pedestrian crossings at El Camino. The 27th Avenue fire station must drive past the project exit to reach El Camino. These issues are not addressed. Without your input, the city will assume everyone likes the plan. With your input, they will make changes.

  • Use of Disaster Relief Funds to defend HB2
I have my own religious beliefs but do not think they should be imposed upon other citizens or cost the tax payers. Moreover, God is love and requires us to love our families, neighbors and enemies and we must treat people as we wish to be treated so discrimination is not part of God's plan and HB2 should not be used in the name of religion.

  • Tell Commerce City No To A Truck Terminal at 104th and Hwy 2!
I hope everyone will realize the gravity of the situation at large regarding economic development and the specific development of this truck terminal. This is for the community as a whole. This petition is a means to start real change and show the city officials that we are not just complainers that are easily pacified by minimal results, weightless promises, or passage of time. It shows we desire real results and are willing to take the time to see them done and to see our tax dollars put to good use. See this as the first initial positive investment in the long-term growth and success of our community, the success of your personal home, and the continued enjoyment of this beautiful area! Please sign immediately, so we can get this to the officials before this truck stop is approved and it is too late. It is easy to complain and harder to change after the fact. Take this simple step to voice your opinion. This is not a political platform, movement, and not even based upon personal political ideology. This is our given right as citizens of this great country. Take this simple step to show that our elected officials are accountable to a democratic system; they are accountable us! Please note that I cannot change the text after signatures have been gained. Thus, while the title has been changed to reflect a "terminal" rather than truck stop, the only difference in the points would be the potential to disregard the crime linked to "truck stops" specifically. However, please not the remaining points of pollution, traffic congestion, and image still remain valid concerns. While the criminal activity may be lessened, I still posit the potential for increased criminal activity should be considered.

  • Let us vote on the MRC/Fiberight plan
I am starting this petition because elected officials in Camden are failing to listen to the voice of voters who spoke loudly at town meetings against their choice of sending our waste to an incinerator in Portland for the next 20 years. We were given an extension by the MRC until August 31st to make this decision and still be entitled to rebates down the road. The MRC has served us well for the past 25 years and our community deserves a chance to vote on staying with the group.

  • Save Monarch Butterflies and Native Pollinators
Monarch Butterfly Populations have declined by 90% in recent years. Chiefly due to loss of habitat from development. Monarch butterfly caterpillars can only eat our native Common Milkweed, Swamp Milkweed, and Butterfly weed-- all species of Asclepias. As I travel around our state I notice freeway medians completely mowed, roadsides on state and US highways mowed for 100 yards and more, and on and off ramps mowed entirely. These are all prime sites for milkweeds and other native wildflowers to grow. Our native bees are also in serious decline. They also depend on wildflowers, including milkweeds to survive. Please stop mowing such wide areas. One mower width on the edges of roads should be enough to provide for traffic safety. This would also save fuel, reduce air pollution, and save dollars spent on manhours to provide vehicle maintenance and mowing- all of which are paid for by taxpayers.
