• NY Board of Elections: Conduct Full Statewide Audit of Voter Purges
The right to vote should be seen as a sacred right for all citizens. However, the New York State Board of Elections has purged over 60,000 voters from the rolls in Kings County — the most populous county, which houses Brooklyn — between October and April, just before the New York primary. A voter can be moved from active to inactive status if they have not voted in two consecutive federal elections (or four years). However, only 10,000 voters have been added to the "inactive" list, meaning that over 50,000 voters are unaccounted for. Kings County is one of only seven counties, out of a total of sixty-two, that reported a drop in Democratic voters. As of April 19, no official explanation has been given for why these voters were removed from the rolls. We demand a full, statewide audit of all voter purges across New York. We further demand that the unedited results of the audit be published online for public view.

  • Make community college hire from the community
I am starving to death. I've been teaching as a part timer for ten years with no assurance of employment, benefits I have to pay for, afraid to make a peep or join Cal Strs whenever I don’t know how long I can continue to do this. Retirement looks sketchy at best. I'm 61 years old. Because I got into this "racket" called community college teaching, I am doomed to a subsistence level quality of life. I share custody of a 12-year-old girl. All she sees is this overworked, underpaid, grumbling, disappointed curmudgeon who wonders why he even liked to read and write in the first place. My eyes are going bad from all the bad writing I've had to read. My neck is a mess from all the nights in front of a computer. And for what? I’ve been passed over every year for a tenure track position because I am not a "team PLAYER"--In other words I say it like it is, you can call it all the sour grapes you want but this country is going to the dogs and those ignorant of history (like my students) are doomed to repeat it. You are welcome to the next generation. You think they will suddenly get curious about all the ways their freedoms are being taken away day by day? Rhetorical question? It won’t hit them till they’re in their thirties, still living with their parents, unable to pay off their student loans and worst of all, useless as far as contributing to society. What society? It’s a big gang of owners and we ain’t in the club.

  • I won't Support Hillary Clinton
The Democratic Primary has been rigged for Hillary Clinton! Our votes don't count and from the beginning all the odds have been stacked against anyone who has run against her. She is untrustworthy, the only candidate to my knowledge, for the Democratic nomination for president who has ever been under an FBI investigation and facing a potential indictment in history. She is a big gamble, and is not worthy of the nomination. She will not unite the party as to many do not trust her. She will be ineffective as a president, as Republican's hold a very real dislike for her and will not work with her. She is a divider, and will not be able to bring the party together as well as bring independents in to support her in the national election. Her nomination will mean a Democratic defeat in November! I won't support her!

  • Obama: Don't Send Weapons to Syria That Threaten Civilian Planes
Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) and Rep. Ted Yoho (R-FL) have initiated a bipartisan letter to President Obama urging him to maintain his policy of refusing to transfer shoulder-fired surface-to-air missiles (“Manpads”) to Syrian combatants. This letter highlights the repeated votes by the House of Representatives in 2015 and 2016 that prohibited the use of any DOD funds to transfer Manpads to any party in the Syrian Civil War. Manpads can be fired at aircraft by individuals on the ground and easily hidden or transported in the trunk of a car. U.S. and Israeli officials have expressed concern that they could be used by terrorists to bring down commercial airliners. Since their first use against a civilian aircraft in 1978, thirty fatal MANPAD attacks have resulted in almost 1,000 civilian deaths. While the Obama Administration had previously opposed the transfer of MANPADs to parties in Syria, according to the Wall Street Journal, “Saudi Arabia and Turkey have increased pressure on Washington to up the ante in support of the moderate opposition in part by calling for the introduction of weapons systems that they know are a red line for Mr. Obama, such as Manpads.” [1] The transfer of these dangerous weapons to any non-state actor would be irresponsible, but the transfer to opposition groups in Syria could be particularly dangerous. Weapons transferred to Syrian insurgents in the past have wound up being used by insurgents in Iraq against the U.S.-backed Iraqi army and have been captured by terrorist groups Al-Nusra and ISIS. Urge your Representative to sign the Conyers-Yoho letter against sending Manpads to Syria by signing our petition. 1. http://www.wsj.com/articles/u-s-readies-plan-b-to-arm-syria-rebels-1460509400

  • Restore Voting Rights To Six Million Americans!
As host of The Karen Hunter Show on SiriusXM, we crusaded successfully for the removal of the Confederate flag from the South Carolina statehouse. It is our mission to fight for the rights of Americans and hold this country to its promise. After interviewing Kemba Smith, we were compelled to take up the fight to restore voting rights to nonviolent felons. Smith, who could not vote in her state of Virginia after being pardoned by Pres. Bill Clinton, had to move to another state to vote. From state to state there are different rules. There are even a couple of states where PRISONERS can vote. There should be uniformity. At the very least, there should be a standard that says if a person serves their time, all of their rights of citizenship should be restored.

  • Congress: Pass Sen. Warren's Tax Simplification Act
Every year, the average American spends over a dozen hours and hundreds of dollars simply to pay their fair share in taxes. But it doesn't have to be that way. Back in 1998, a Republican-controlled Congress passed a law meant to make it easier for all Americans to file their taxes. But, thanks to lobbying from tax preparation giants like Turbo Tax, the IRS hasn't actually implemented the changes mandated by the law. The "Free File" program the IRS created, which is supposed to give 70 percent of taxpayers access to free tax preparation, is used by only 3 percent of eligible taxpayers. Our taxes cover critical services like infrastructure, health care, and education, and it should be as easy to pay them as possible! Stand with Senator Warren and demand that Congress pass the Tax Filing Simplification Act.

  • Stop the Cut to SNAP
My name is Maurice Anderson and I am pursuing my Business Administration degree at Columbia Southern University online. The money I get from financial aid barely covers tuition and housing fees, therefore I find myself with no money to use for food. I was encouraged to apply for SNAP food benefits and also because of the 75% usage rate, I applied. I was first denied because in the eyes of SNAP Virginia, as a student, we are expected to have extra free time to also carry a job of at least 20 hours a week; not every 2 weeks or month, but 20 hours a week! Once I finally got a month's worth of working 20 hours a week to show to SNAP, they approved my case and received my allowance of $115.00 in SNAP food benefits for an entire month. Please help students/ workers in Virginia qualify for SNAP food benefits without having to work a maximum number of hours, and to be treated like the rest of the community. Please ensure that we can continue with our education and also work and be able to eat. Allow students to concentrate on our studies without mandatory work hour qualifications for SNAP benefits. Please sign this petition to help students attain food benefits through SNAP Virginia without restrictions on work hours!
