  • Demand that Utah GOP Follow Rule of Law
The Utah Republican Convention is this weekend, and the GOP will be voting on a resolution by Lowell Nelson, former vice chairman of the state Republican Party, that “encourages public officials at all levels of government to nullify any federal order, act, opinion, or regulation” which they personally believe is unconstitutional. Nelson says he expects his resolution to easily win approval among the GOP convention delegates, but we’re calling on you to let him and the rest of the Republican party know that this is not the way our leaders should behave.

  • James Comey: Treat Hillary Clinton equal under the law
The U.S. is a nation of laws, where all should be equal under the law. We, the undersigned, are concerned that Hillary Clinton will be not be fully investigated or prosecuted by the FBI due to her wealth, position and political power. The decision to implement the laws of our nation re Mrs. Clinton's private email server is dependent on the courage of Dir. of the FBI, James Comey. We ask Dir. Comey to treat Mrs. Clinton as he would any other citizen of the US. Do not hold her above the law in this or any other matter. Thank you.

  • Enough with the voter suppression
There is an ongoing war on voter rights in our country, and we are losing. In 2016, 17 states will have new voting restrictions in place for the first time in a presidential election. The new laws range from strict photo ID requirements to early voting cutbacks to registration restrictions. Overall, 22 states have new restrictions in effect since the 2010 midterm election. You can see the result in long lines, and people turned away from the polls. Rather than fighting a battle in the states after the fact, Obama can take action on the federal level to make it easier, not harder to vote. He can sign executive orders to make federal agencies do more for voters, and make the Department of Justice take an active role in stopping the voter suppression. But Obama needs to hear from us on how important voting rights are, and that we demand action now. • Tell John Kasich: no bribing delegates!
Bribing voters is illegal. Bribing delegates isn’t -- but should be. Tell John Kasich and the rest of the presidential candidates to take the #NoDelegateBribes pledge. As competition for delegates grows fierce in both parties' primaries, the presidential campaigns may resorting to "delegate buying." Campaigns can lavish delegates with gifts and free travel, in hopes of influencing their votes at the convention. That's not how our democracy should work. Delegates shouldn’t be tempted to support the candidate who gave them the most gifts. We're calling on candidates to take the "No Delegate Bribes" pledge -- to refrain from offering delegates anything of value in an attempt to swing their votes, and urge independent groups that support them to do the same. Candidates also must support changing convention rules to expressly forbid this sort of delegate buying. Anything less than that undermines public trust in our democracy, and reinforces voters' cynicism about our political process. Join Common Cause in asking John Kasich and the rest of the presidential candidates to sign the #NoDelegateBribes pledge. It would send a clear message that this election is about the voters -- not backroom bribes.

  • Dirty Gas Has No Place in a Clean Power Plan
The Wolf administration is working on a Clean Power Plan for Pennsylvania, but the plan is anything but clean. • The Clean Power Plan puts natural gas in the “clean” column • The Clean Power Plan guarantees reliance on natural gas • The Clean Power Plan doesn’t limit how much a state can rely on gas to meet its target • The Clean Power Plan institutionalizes and enables pollution • The Clean Power Plan means we can kiss a fracking moratorium or ban goodbye Pennsylvanians Against Fracking is asking for your support in telling Governor Wolf, DEP Secretary John Quigley, and Wolf’s energy advisor, David Sweet, that Pennsylvania urgently needs a real clean power plan. • Tell the FCC to Unlock The Box
Cable providers have held a monopoly on cable boxes for too long. Consumers are forced to rent these locked boxes for an average of $231 / year. The FCC has proposed a rule that would end this monopoly, driving innovation, bringing down costs for consumers, and making it simple to get streaming content in every American home.
