Remove Marijuana from the Controlled Substances Act & End Cannabis ProhibitionMarijuana and its cannabinoids are listed as Schedule 1 under the outdated Controlled Substances Act of 1970, defining it as having a high probability for addiction and having no medical value. The Department of Health & Human Services was awarded US Patent #6630507 in 2003, stating that cannabinoids are antioxidants and neuroprotectants capable of treating cancers and neurological illnesses. Although Section 7606 of the Agricultural Act of 2014 allowed for hemp— defined as Cannabis Sativa L. with <0.3 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)—to be grown for research only, the permits the DEA issues for the research plots still regulate hemp as "marijuana" under federal law, further adding to the confusion. To grow this plant as a resource is a human right. If alcohol & tobacco aren't on the list of controlled substances, then cannabis as "marijuana" shouldn't be either. The Drug War has failed and the United Nations drug treaties establishing global prohibition were passed prior to the scientific discovery of the Endocannabinoid System in the 1990s. It is time.15,846 of 20,000 SignaturesCreated by Deschedule 2016

MoreThanAHashtag : Unified Call For Congressional Action to Address Inequities Faced by Black Wom...As we approach the peak of the presidential season, far too little focus has centered on the issues concerning one of the strongest voting blocs: Black women. Despite outperforming every other demographic in the last two elections, the conditions of Black women and their families continues to remain ignored, entering national dialogue usually upon tragedy or violence. Even with national platforms intended to focus on violence against women, the significant disparities faced by millions of Black women and girls in the workplace, schools, and streets are, at best, underprioritized. Heirs of the tangled oppression of slavery, sexism, classism, and invisibility, equity in America will never truly be actualized until Black women and girls can exist as full citizens of America--in fact, policy and by law. What is the status of Black women and girls today? Black women constitute 13% of the population of US women, yet 30% of all incarcerated women. Nearly 4.1 million families are headed by Black women--37% of which live below the poverty level. Student debt takes up 111 percent of Black women’s income. The closing of facilities that provide general care for women impacts millions of low-income women who count on these local institutions as their primary source of care. 300 girls in the Atlanta area are lured into sex trafficking each month--the average age being 14. Black girls are suspended six times more often than white girls. Every year, 1, 722 Black women die from breast cancer--an average of five Black women a day! The maternal mortality rate of Black women in America is more than 10 times that of women in most industrialized nations. And as we witnessed with the case of Sandra Bland, no aspect of the American Dream--her college degree, new job, affiliation in a historically Black Greek-lettered organization, or zip code--could provide Sandra security. We can no longer be silent about our realities and that of our sisters, mothers, partners and friends. Stop US Forest Service Clearcutting of Boulder County ForestsIn 2015 the US Forest Service decided to review and revise their original project plan (the Forsythe 1 Project) for the cutting treatments in the Magnolia area partly in response to our last petition. The USFS has now returned with an almost identical plan. The new Forsythe II Project is still based on imposing the conditions of a Lower Montane forest zone upon an Upper Montane zone. Not only is this destined to fail, it is likely to do the opposite of what is intended by increasing wildfire risk, destroying wildlife habitat, increasing the risk of flooding, and destroying a scenic and recreational asset. The wildfire hazard will be increased by replacing healthy, mature forests with new growth of ground and ladder fuels, and by leaving countless piles of slash on the ground for years. The Forsythe ll plan also does not treat the area as a scenic and wildlife management area, as prescribed by the 1997 Arapaho Roosevelt Forest Plan. Despite these inaccuracies the USFS intends to begin implementing this plan and cutting once again THIS JULY after completing their brief process of evaluation, and the formalities of accepting comments. Let's take an active interest in what happens to the National Forests in our backyards before they're changed for the rest of our lives!767 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Yvonne Short

STOP the needle exchange in Falmouth, MaThis petition is aimed to put a stop to the needle exchange proposed at 65 Town Hall Sq in Falmouth, Ma. The heroin epidemic has become out of control in Falmouth and we believe this needle exchange will only make it worse. Would you want to see, or worse, your kids to see someone shooting up while you are bowling, taking care of any business at Town Hall or going for a walk on Main St? I certainly don't! The next logical step is a methodone clinic, then a homeless shelter and then we become Brockton by the Sea. This will make a once great town into a town no tourist will want to travel to or any current resident will want to stay in. This is not designed to go after the addicts. If this was a program to help addicts seek recovery, we wouldn't have an issue. A needle exchange is the town saying "it's okay to shoot up here and as a matter of fact we encourage it." Please do your part and sign this petition to keep Falmouth beautiful. A needle exchange will cause more problems than anyone realizes.138 of 200 SignaturesCreated by anybody in falmouth

Stop terrifying raids on child refugees!A small child, just four-years old, was sleeping soundly over the New Year's weekend when he was abruptly woken up by feet pounding across the floor and screaming in the house. Then his worst nightmare came true: He was taken away by strangers. This just happened in Atlanta, Georgia, one of three U.S. cities, where 121 Central American refugees were abruptly removed from their homes at 4:30 in the morning. No one should be treated that way. We've all got to stand up against this inhumane treatment of children and families. It’s time for DHS to adopt practices that both respect our laws and the dignity of children seeking refuge in the United States, such as the following: • Placing child welfare experts and social workers on the border for screening children and other vulnerable individuals; those who’ve been traumatized by violence should be screened by trained professionals, not by customs border patrol agents; • Strengthening the court system capacity to review cases and ensure due process; • Recognizing that it’s not unlawful to seek asylum at our borders—children and families seeking refuge at our borders have every right to do so under current law and should not be treated as criminals; • Upholding the best interest of the child in all decisions involving children. Join us in urging the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson to stop the inhumane treatment of children and families in the name of immigration law enforcement. Decency, fairness, and humanity require that we protect the well-being of the children from Central America seeking asylum in the United States and ensure that they are granted full due process under the law, including adequate legal representation.11 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Elisa, MomsRising.org

Yosemite National Park names should not be changedOur Beloved Yosemite National Park is being targeted by greed and bitterness of Delaware North Company, forcing name changes of all the historic hotels and villages in Yosemite. The Wawona Hotel, which was opened in 1879, the famous Ahwahnee Hotel, built in 1927, Badger ski pass and many others are owned by Yosemite National Park and “we the people”. A beverage and hotel concession company, Delaware North has no business taking ownership of these historic names simply out of spite because they lost a 20-year business contract to service Yosemite National Park. I started this petition out of outrage that a private company, out of spite and greed, is threatening to take away all of our collective wonderful memories of these historic names that we associate with those places in our hearts. This cannot be allowed; please help and use your voice through this petition to out the greed of Delaware North and get the Governor, the President and Representatives to make this severe wrong right. Return the names that belong to Yosemite National Park and to us, “we the people”. Thank you for signing, Lisa Oaks37,685 of 40,000 SignaturesCreated by Lisa Oaks

New Providence Playing Fields: Finding the Best SolutionsNew Providence is proposing to renovate Grove Park and Oakwood Park playing fields by replacing natural grass with synthetic turf, fencing in the park, installing field lights and increasing the parking footprint. We appreciate the need for sustainable playing fields in New Providence, especially for children's sports. We respectfully request that the Borough Council thoroughly considers the effects of these proposed changes on the people who use these parks as well as the areas surrounding the field before moving forward. Our collective voice includes concerned parents, property owners, town residents, neighbors and athletes. Some of us live quite close to these parks. Others of us use these parks for recreational activities that span a wide range. Still others are concerned about the precedent that these proposed changes will have on future Borough public endeavors. We appreciate the Borough Council’s proposal to meet the needs of athletes in New Providence, and we request that the following points are duly considered before any renovations begin: • Property values and any negative effects resulting from these proposed renovations. • Safety issues with regard to increased car traffic to the residential areas surrounding these parks. • Environmental impacts with regard to water flow, the woodlands and aesthetics of the areas near the park. • Health effects with regard to the proposed synthetic playing surface, especially for children. • Lighting impacts and pollution, especially for those living nearest to the field. • Access to natural areas surrounding the park. We appreciate the Borough Council’s efforts in insuring the safety and quality of life for the residents and the athletes who use this public space.68 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Grove Terrace Concerned Citizens
