LEGISLATIVE REVIEW AMENDMENTThe U.S. Supreme Court has exceeded its mandate under the U.S. Constitution to adjudicate--not create--legislation. We, the PEOPLE have the right to govern ourselves in America. We need to get the power back into the hands of the people through our ELECTED representatives.54 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Lila Cuajunco

Civil Rights for All! Pass Employee Free Choice Act!The CEOs and Corporations of this country have too much power in our politics and if they get their way they will get rid of all our strong voices of the majority, the poor and middle class. Ask Greg Abbot to step down.Too many of my friends, family, neighbors and myself are disgusted with being treated as though we are foreign invaders in our own state. He is at the forefront of attempting to disenfranchise as many different groups of people as possible. That is not what effective or just governance should be.275 of 300 SignaturesCreated by James Martin

END THE ILLEGAL DISCRIMINATIONAlabama probate judge Wes Allen of Pike County stopped issuing marriage licenses altogether in protest of the Supreme Court ruling on Friday that struck down state bans on same-sex marriage and legalized it nationwide. Hours after the U.S. Supreme Court legalized same sex marriage across the country on Friday, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott told his department directors to not take action against any state officials who act or refuse to act on account of their "sincere religious belief." "This order applies to any agency decision, including but not limited to granting or denying benefits, managing agency employees, entering or enforcing agency contracts, licensing and permitting decisions, or enforcing state laws and regulations," Abbott wrote. These are only two examples. Such flagrant violations of people's rights cannot go unanswered.14 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Geo. McCalip

Maintain R1 ZoningDear Neighbors, I feel compelled to discuss an important issue with you. At the next Collier Board of Commissioners meeting scheduled for July 8 at 7:00 P.M. at the Municipal Building there will be a discussion regarding a proposed zoning change. This change would adversely effect us all. There will also be a public hearing several weeks thereafter during which each of us has an opportunity to give testimony against this proposed zoning change. As soon as the public hearing date is set, I will communicate that to you. The proposed zoning change would cause the following: 1. Major increase in traffic along Hilltop Road. 2. Town-homes crammed onto a narrow strip of land, with their sides facing the valley, would be an eyesore negatively affecting our property values. 3. Questions remain regarding the ability of the ground to withstand a large number of town homes perched precariously above a very steep slope. 4. There is the potential for runoffs from the sewer system onto neighboring properties.62 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Gal Neustadt

Call to Action! As a Jewish American, I am outraged that Amazon.com promotes the sale of items containing relics of hatred and terror such as swastikas and ISIS symbols. The site banned sales of Confederate flags; now go one step further!42 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Susan Coleman

Drop any charges against Bree Newsome, the courageous organizer arrested for taking down the Conf...Early Saturday morning, a multiracial group of Carolinians led by teachers and activists took down the Confederate flag from the South Carolina capitol grounds — within an hour the state had raised the hateful banner once again in time for an 11 A.M. white supremacist rally. Bree Newsome, the Black woman who climbed the pole and cut down the flag, was arrested and taken into custody by Capitol Police. She should be promptly released from jail, any charges should be dropped, and the legislature should immediately vote to permanently remove the flag. According to a statement from the activists they took down the flag because: "We could not sit by and watch the victims of the Charleston Massacre be laid to rest while the inspiration for their deaths continue to fly above their caskets." The confederate flag was born out of a government defending the enslavement of Black people and resurrected as an emblem for whites violently opposing racial integration. Any government that recognizes the flag is declaring that it cherishes a history of racial terror. Taking down the flag is just one step but a symbolically meaningful one. Make no mistake about it, however, racism isn't just a flag or words it's baked into our economy and inequities in our democracy and criminal justice system. In Bree's own words: "It's time for a new chapter where we are sincere about dismantling white supremacy and building toward true racial justice and equality." South Carolina officials have sided with white supremacists in choosing to restore the flag before a planned rally. The legislature must immediately vote to permanently remove the Confederate flag from the capitol and all state buildings. ColorOfChange stands with Bree and the courageous activists who took down South Carolina's confederate flag. Automatic Voter Registration, Selective Service RegistrantsAs a proud retired veteran of the Vietnam War, my sons and nephews as veterans of the wars in Panama and Iraq, my grandson and my nephews as veterans of the war in Afghanistan, I and my family have experienced the hardships of military life and reaped the consequences of misguided, senseless conflicts. My grandchildren, upon registration with the Selective Service, will automatically be subjected to being drafted into a future war. As such, I believe they should have an automatic say, at the voting booth, as to who makes the decisions to go to war, they should be able to decide who the deciders are in our government.20 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Mervin Sonnier

Bring new leadership to Dallas schoolsOur school district has an opportunity to make the fresh start that we need and our students deserve. The news broke recently that Superintendent Mike Miles is resigning his post. As the Trustees begin the search for a replacement, we need them to hear the voices of all stakeholders. We need a superintendent who is committed to working with all stakeholders—parents, teachers and school employees, and members of our community. We need collaboration—not confrontation--to ensure that Dallas has safe, welcoming neighborhood public schools where students are inspired and educators are well-supported. The process for identifying and hiring a new superintendent must include the voices of those stakeholders. I urge you to take a moment to let your voice be heard. Please contact the Trustees and urge them to consider the following three points in the search for a new superintendent to lead our school district forward: 1) The process must be inclusive and transparent. Schools work best when all stakeholders are involved. The Dallas ISD Board should take the time and create space to get input from parents, educators and members of our community. 2) An independent search firm should be engaged. Efforts to identify a new superintendent should be broad and deliberate. 3) A broad-based Stakeholder Advisory Committee should participate in the search and interview finalists with the Trustees. The new superintendent should be someone who can build relationships with the full Dallas community. One good way to lay that foundation is to include an array of stakeholders and constituents in the selection process. At a minimum, the committee should have a place for educators, parents, business leaders, faith leaders and representatives of civic organizations. One model for how this works is already familiar to Dallas ISD; whenever a new principal is hired, a campus-wide committee is involved in the selection and interviewing of candidates. A fresh start for Dallas ISD means giving community stakeholders a seat at the table where our new superintendent is selected.377 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Rena Honea
