I noticed a lot of students wanting to join a volleyball team. When we found out there wasn't one at our school we were shocked that our sport savvy school didn't have a team. Volleyball is a fun sport that has been growing quite popular lately. Many students, including students who usually don't join school sports, have taken an interest in trying out.

The government shutdown has been going on for a week already. Over 150,000 Texans have been put out of work. Small businesses loans are being delayed, social security checks for new seniors and veterans benefits are being delayed, and again, it's not the fault of seniors or those who have risked their lives for our country that brought us to this tragic outcome. For Texas, and for America, it's time congress votes for a clean continuing resolution and it's time we end the government shutdown.

The politicians have no right threaten to destroy the USA.

In order to make the case for privatizing our existing Medicaid system, and justify not expanding it to cover an additional 500,000 North Carolinians, McCrory's administration altered audit responses in order to achieve an inaccurate outcome. They then used these inaccurate findings to tell lies about the inefficiency of North Carolinian's system and characterize it as "broken", when nothing could not have been further from the truth. We think it's time for Governor McCrory and DHHS Secretary Wos to stop lying to the taxpayers of North Carolina and come clean about the cost of our Medicaid system. McCrory knows that administrative costs of the Medicaid program are not 30 percent higher than other states, but he keeps saying it anyway. Wos knows it too. This is the Governor's one chance to tell the truth. It's a matter of trust, Governor, and right now the only thing that is "broken" seems to be your reputation.

A small faction of House Republicans funded by the Kochs are conspiring to destroy the government of the USA by blocking enforcement of the ACA and demanding other harmful concessions. They should be charged accordingly.

This town doesn't need 5 cops or a photo ticket radar. Using the police force to collect funds ruins peoples faith in the role of an officer.

Government officials are not above the rules of conduct or the laws of these United States. Speaker Boehner and Representative Cruz have conspired to hinder the government within the definition of sedition and the Fourteenth Amendment of the US Constitution, and must be held accountable.

Funding research for only breast cancer isn't going to help thousands of other people who have other kinds of Cancer. Even though breast cancer is the most common cancer in woman, that doesn't mean we can't support other cancers as well, and help thousands more people. Help fund research for, not one single disease, but all of the types of Cancer we know of.

As a retired military spouse of 24 years, I find this disgusting that we could call a military family after the death of a loved one, and tell them sorry no benefits. These men and women are fighting and giving their life for this country and this is how we treat them, and their families? I can longer sit back and say nothing.

“The scariest part was probably being handcuffed.” By all accounts Kyle Thompson is a normal 14-year old kid who loves playing football and hanging out with his friends. His principal says he’d love to have an entire school filled with students like Kyle. So why on earth was Kyle led from school in handcuffs, expelled from all state public schools and placed under house arrest for the year? Kyle’s teacher wanted to see a note he had written, and when she playfully tried to take it from him, he tried to hold on to it. Even though all the witness statements said that the teacher was joking around and Kyle didn’t act aggressively, the incident ended with Kyle under arrest. This ‘zero-tolerance’ approach to school discipline takes kids like Kyle out of the education system and funnels them into the criminal justice system because of a single, small infraction. There, they can look forward to a life of neglect and lost opportunity, as it can be impossible to find new schools or attend college once their records are tainted. In Kyle’s case, his school says it was prevented from handling punishment differently, stating: “The issue raised in this petition presents an opportunity for citizens to examine ‘zero tolerance’ laws in Michigan…” So this doesn’t have to be the end of Kyle’s story, or the stories of thousands of students just like him. With enough public pressure, we can push the Michigan legislature to prioritize educating, not imprisoning our young students.
