Label GMOs in North DakotaGMOs should be labeled in North Dakota. People should have the right to know where their food is coming from and how their food has been grown. When buying fruits and vegetables at the grocery store, one has the right to know if the product has been genetically modified.319 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Tanner Hopfauf

"Protect The Legacy of the Deceased and The Sanity of Their Survivors" (AdLLaw Initiative)We ask all the people; members of our Congressional body and the President of the United States to support the Anti-Defamation Legacy Law Advocates or AdLLAaw (Ad Law) Initiative. Originally we thought to start with California. The California Courts Judicial Council created a draft Initiative. Although, prepared for California the language of this document states clearly what we wish to see become law on a national level. http://antidefamationlegacylawadvocates.org/2013/07/18/anti-defamation-legacy-law-advocates-adllaw-initiative/ The purpose of this Initiative is to bring about legislation which will include the deceased among those who can be legally defamed giving their family a statute upon which to base a civil cause of action. We see this law as any other civil action. Such a law would be neither frivolous nor a magic pill to cure all ills, but a possible deterrent against slandering a decedent for most or a possible tool to address more serious offenders. Within the past 10 years the list of decedents who are egregiously defamed surpasses what is common or usual or expected. The list ranges from the famous to the non-famous. We are blessed with many rights (especially those of us who are Americans), but with them come responsibilities to ensure we do no harm to others through our dangerous behavior. Intentional defamation of a decedent does more than just hurt their survivor’s feelings; it can endanger their health and welfare through false public perception, judgments and actions taken. We hold dear our First Amendment rights, but there is nothing in our Constitution about bearing false witness as a legal right. We urge you to support the Anti-Defamation Legacy Law (AdLLaw) Initiative. http://antidefamationlegacylawadvocates.org/4,043 of 5,000 SignaturesCreated by Anti-Defamation Legacy Law Advocates

Congress: Protect Our Communities; Reject the Natural Gas Pipeline Permitting Reform ActJust when you thought another give away to the gas drillers couldn’t be possible, pro-drilling cronies in the U.S. Congress find a way – this time truncating the level of environmental review and resulting protections given to interstate pipelines, and providing automatic approvals when short time limits are not met. Pipelines are an indelible cut across the landscape -- through the power of eminent domain for private properties and political persuasion for public lands, they secure the right to cut our forests, pollute our water, contaminate our air, exacerbate climate change, damage jobs, and make our communities less safe. They need to be subject to the same laws as everyone else.1,234 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Maya van Rossum

End Unsafe Working Conditions at McDonald'sIn the middle of a heat wave like this, to be expected to stand in a hot kitchen with no air conditioning is inhumane and unsafe. One of my coworkers had to be taken out in an ambulance. We are human beings. We've told McDonald's before that the air conditioning doesn't work and that we can't take the heat but they don't listen to us. We can't take it anymore. No one should have to work like this. That’s why we’re fighting for $15 per hour and the right to form a union free from retaliation.699 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Jamne Izquierdo

Tell Obama: Don't Put Ray Kelly, Mr. Stop-And-Frisk, in Charge of Homeland SecurityPresident Obama recently said that NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly has "been an outstanding leader in New York" and is "well-qualified" to run the Department of Homeland Security. Growing up in Brooklyn, I was stopped by the NYPD at least 60 times before my 18th birthday. They never told me what I was doing wrong. In NYC, if you’re a young black or Hispanic man like me, you fit the target description. As President Obama explained powerfully on Friday, racial profiling is painful and degrading. And for people like Sean Bell and Trayvon Martin, it is deadly. Now I’m a father myself and I don’t want the same thing happening to my kids. My experiences have motivated me to want to be a lawyer, so I can help young people come together and change the whole system. You can watch a video of my story here: http://bit.ly/TyquansStory. Ray Kelly is responsible for the NYPD program that has stopped people nearly 5 million times. The program doesn’t work: 88 percent of the people stopped are not arrested or ticketed; guns are almost never recovered; and the practice has really harmed the relationship between the police and the community. Dear President Obama: Ray Kelly is not qualified to lead the Department of Homeland Security. We can’t let a man who believes so strongly in racial profiling run our nation’s immigration system. Appointing Kelly would be so hurtful to me and to the millions of others who feel the sting of racial prejudice every day. Please don’t do this.252 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Tyquan Brehon

Vote "NO!" to the Student Loan Certainty Act of 2013Under pressure from the White House, members of Congress are plowing forward with a student loan interest rate "solution" that is bad for students -- worse for students in the long-run than allowing the current interest rate (6.8%) to stand. With the Student Loan Certainty Act of 2013, the government stands to make $184 billion over 10 years off the backs of hard-working students, pushing them further into debt, and making it harder to pay for college.2,059 of 3,000 SignaturesCreated by Iris Maria
