• Violating Amendment #1-Freedom of the press
After reading that the FBI had copied the phone calls of the AP reporters, I expected my emails to be flooded with outraged citizens asking me to man the barricades with them and demand that the confidentiality of their sources be respected as inviolate. Sadly, the only request for my signature on a petition was to support the marriage of two characters on a television show. Where is our moral indignation? Isn't it apparent to everyone that one of our greatest protections comes from the shielding of investigatory press? No whistle-blower, who may be the only witness to gross fraud, is going to step forward and chance all kinds of retribution without the protection of anonymity until all the facts can be uneartthed.

  • Arkansas Citizens: Support Fair Criminal Sentences
I've seen the injustices of mandatory long-term prison sentences in federal court. We can put a bi-partisan end to this. S. 619 is a bill introduced by Senators Rand Paul and Patrick Leahy. The bill would create a new safety valve for federal mandatory minimum sentences that, if enacted, would give judges the authority to sentence offenders below the minimum under certain circumstances. The safety valve the would be created by S. 619 is necessary because mandatory minimum sentences have created unsustainable prison spending and an explosion in the federal prison population. Allowing judges to use their discretion to sentence below minimums where appropriate means that prison beds and justice resources are saved for those who pose the biggest danger to the public. Tell Sen. Boozeman and Pryor to co-sponsor S. 619.

  • Eliminate The Electoral College
Due to the Electoral College these "well- to-do" people were able to take advantage of their role of choosing the president for the people by placing their electoral votes to George Bush. The shown & believed policy is the presidential candidate that wins the state gets the electoral votes (number of votes vary by state). The other part not talked about is the fact the the electors have the right to overrule the people's popular vote and shift their votes to the candidate THEY CHOSE. This is exactly what occurred in the 2000 Pres. Election between Gore & Bush. Al Gore won the popular vote yet somehow George Bush received enough electoral votes to win that election by way of this idiotic technicality. The Daily Press had his story on the the front page where one of the electors was quoted saying " I made what I felt was the choice for the American people in electing George Bush" More truthful eyes are on these elections so its a hard thing to duplicate. Which is why now they are trying to adjust districts of states to make certain areas electoral votes counts more than others. The electoral college needs to go before another controversial election occurs

  • Proportional ELectoral Representation
Proportional electoral representation would give the American electorate that political power which special interests have monopolized. Our current winner take all, gerrymandered, and bought form of electoral representation unjustly concentrates both political and economic power in a few individuals and entities.

  • Speed Bumps to Save Our Kids!
On May 14, 2013, a drunk driver was arrested after ignoring the 4-way stop at the corner of 187th Loop and 41st Street and running her car onto the sidewalk. If children had been playing in the street or on the sidewalk, lives could have been lost. Drivers are consistently failing to fully stop at this 4 way stop and it is endangering our children. The Homeowners Association refuses to take action. We want the Homeowners Association to install speed bumps and blinking light stop signs. Please don't let a child get hit by a car this summer - sign this petition to show the Association that our kids should receive more attention than our landscaping!

  • Tell Congress: Don't Pass a Farm Bill that Lets Monsanto Wipe Out State GMO Labeling Laws!
Monsanto has been poisoning our food and environment for nearly 20 years. Consumers are finally fighting back, by demanding labels on GMO foods. Will Monsanto try to take away our right to pass state GMO labeling laws? Monsanto already slipped a rider into the emergency Continuing Resolution, giving the biotech giant immunity from federal law. Now, there is talk of an amendment or rider to the 2013 Farm Bill that could take away states' rights to pass GMO labeling laws.

  • Gerrymander reform
Gerrymandering is an undemocratic practice that distorts true representation. Just looking at a map of these districts tells you that something is very wrong.

  • Craig Watkins: Don't Seek the Death Penalty Anymore.
The death penalty does not act as a deterrent. It is also exorbitantly costly and deeply flawed. We demand that Texas DA's stop seeking the death penalty and instead embrace life-without-possibility-of-parole (LWOP) as an alternative to the death penalty.

  • Increase Social Security Payments For SSDI and SSI.
Expanding Social Security by $800 a month would help those who are disabled and unable to locate housing due to high cost of renting and waiting lists for housing, be able to afford a small rental on their own, thus improving housing for the disabled as well. Housing for disabled Americans is horrendous.
