• Need Criminal record Cleared
I believe that we should look at allowing certain things to come off of our criminal records after a given amount of time. This practice happens with things such as; traffic tickets and bankruptcies, after the allotted time the violations fall off. I believe this should be a common practice with certain misdemeanors and convictions on our criminal records; time frame to be set accordingly.

  • Saying No to Local PORK
The intersection East of Charleston Illinois where IL Rt-16 and East Harrison Avenue cross is currently under a proposal to spend in excess of 3 million (before properties are purchased) to renovate the intersection. They say it is for "safety" reasons; however, it is really to benefit a local attorney who is scheming to enhance his land development plans. The city of Charleston even hired his survey company to plot out the intersection options. Once these were presented to the community in an open presentation, while attending the viewing, I heard nothing from the community people who were for spending so much money and doing anything to such extremes. No forum was presented to voice objections in an open forum. Objections were to be submitted to the state highway department where they could secretly be made to disappear. Things are silent while the abuse continues behind the scenes. I am sure there are experts on higher levels that have coached the community on just how to stage the acceptance of such PORK projects. We are sick of this kind of waste and it needs to stop. There is no such thing as FREE money. We as a community want to say NO to it.

  • SAVE Booker T. Washington High School
Continuing the Small School Model (3 separate schools) has proven to be a failure. Our children's education should be TOP PRIORITY, therefore the continuation of a failed model should be STOPPED.

  • Restoring School Funding
Is it ok for Texas, one of the richest states in the US and one of the largest GNP in the world to have the 49TH level of funding per student? Are we TRYING to purposely raise limited minds to work for menial wages for the bigwigs who run businesses in this state? This Governor should be ASHAMED at this record for schools. At least GW started an initative as failed as it was.

  • Tell SRP: Don't Double Down on Coal!
The utility Salt River Project (SRP) already owns over 50 times more coal than solar power. Yet, they are currently considering doubling its ownership of Arizona's largest and dirtiest coal-fired power plant, the Navajo Generating Station. This power plant is one of the nation's single biggest contributors to global warming pollution and also contributes to regional haze and air quality problems in Grand Canyon National Park. Tell SRP that doubling down on coal is a bad investment for our environment and our health, and should instead invest in renewable energy and energy efficiency.

  • Indiana State Legislature, Reject HB1311
People in the Indiana State Legislature want to ban students from out of state who attend college here and live here from voting in Indiana elections. Students have every right to vote in the districts they live in, and if some student is living in the ISU Dorms, and attending college, they legally live here, and have the right to vote in Indiana elections by law. Don't allow these students to be disenfranchised simply because they are attending college, and trying to better their lives. Call on the Indiana State Legislature to reject House Bill HB1311, and protect the rights of students to vote. Thank You!

  • Governor Nixon: Save the Family Support Division
The Missouri Department of Social Services has begun to reduce and consolidate field offices of the Family Support Division (FSD) with a reduction of over 700 employees. As a result, many counties will have no offices to which people can go to access case workers and on-site assistance. It appears that the largest population centers in the state (St. Louis City and County, St. Charles County and Jackson County) will be without any FSD offices. This is difficult to understand.

  • Trains through Texas
Our economy in Texas is dependent on a solid transportation system. Allowing trains to travel through Texas uninhibited will lessen traffic on our overcrowded highways. Currently, several states are considering rail programs to reduce vehicular traffic. Texas should consider this too.

  • Marco Rubio: Please support a pathway to citizenship so immigrant families will not be torn apart!
We need a pathway to citizenship for the 11 million immigrants already living in the United States. Senator Rubio is playing a key leadership role in drafting the bill for immigration reform, so we are asking him to commit to keeping families together and put aspiring Americans on the road to citizenship. The petition creator, Lizbeth Cosme, said, "I was brought to this country at the age of 8. I am 33 years old and a mother of three, and it is frustrating not being able to go with my children on field trips and participate in school activities due to the lack of a Social Security number. My children and their education are my top priorities. Immigration reform is needed so I can help my kids achieve their goals. They are DREAMers; I myself am a DREAMer!"

  • Fund 4 major social programs through raised taxes
It is clear that lower and middle class workers are working harder than ever to make less than ever. Meanwhile, those at the top earn far greater profits than their average workers than ever before because of their financial bargaining power. Therefore, impose necessary taxes on the needed top wealthy to see that the four social programs--social security, Medicare, Medicaid, and Obamacare--stay solvent, even cutting defense unless taxes are sustained high enough to make all programs continue as they are now. Time to go on the attack and not allow any notion that the social programs are the unnecessary expense that took many on the right feel should be cut. To take from Paul to pay Peter is not robbery when Paul has already taken from Paul due to the power of the purse in bargaining power and the abilty of he wealthy to make government serve their interests better than those of the people. They now take more than they make.. .
