  • Fire Congress!
Everyone has been affected by the stalemate and inability of our Congress to work for the American people. They are so much more concerned for their positions with lobbies in the aftermath of their stints in Congress that they could care less for the benefit of us. So what if they aren't reelected? The next move if they hold their ground is to get the big bucks as a lobbyist. So what is their incentive? If I didn't work for my boss I would be fired....why can't we fire Congress when they won't do their jobs for us? Honestly, they should sacrifice their salaries themselves to contribute to managing the deficit if they want to maintain their DO NOTHING attitudes.

  • Phase out the use of bunker fuel at our ports
Bunker fuel is an extremely dirty fuel used by large ships such as oil tankers and container ships - one container ship emits as much pollution as 50 million cars. Bunker-fuel-using ships cause the hazy atmosphere and air pollution around our nation's ports and health problems in those communities. But we don't have to use this type of fuel: There is a current surplus of ships, so a phase-out of bunker fuel would encourage the newest ships to visit America's ports and lead to other environmental and safety advantages. Economically, this phase-out would raise the marginal cost of shipping goods into our ports, which would have the very beneficial effect of favoring locally manufactured goods over cheap imported goods.

  • Get Big Money Out of Our Elections
The disturbing reality is that the political establishment of Washington is not interested in representing the needs of ordinary Americans. They are much more interested in representing those of the wealthy and the powerful. Super PACs are able to spend as much as they want on political advertising, giving them significant amounts of power over the political process. They elect candidates of their choice while defeating those who would oppose their agenda. America’s corrupt campaign finance system is making the voices of average Americans harder and harder to hear. The majority of money going to these super PACs does not come from large corporations, but from individuals. The top 46 of these wealthy donors have given a total of $67 million, or two-thirds of the $112 million donated to super PACs this cycle. Titans of the financial services industry, energy executives and hoteliers are now pulling the strings in our government. The democracy that America prides itself in has been undermined. “Our goal must be a government that represents all of the people, and not just those wealthy individuals and corporations who can put millions into political campaigns. Ultimately, we must amend the Constitution to clarify to the Court that our democratic elections were never intended as a tool for special interests to drown out the voices of others.” –Bernie Sanders We are the American people, and we will not allow our voices to be drowned out by Big Money. We will be heard.

  • Medical Malpractice
Defective implanted devices which have a recall but the affected patients are not told by their physicians or through the media until the damage has been done. My bladder neck mesh was recalled in 1999 but lawsuits cannot be filed before the year 2000. PLEASE investigate the FDA's practices as I am now completely disabled after discovering an additional diagnosis of endometrial cancer. Medical device manufacturers need to be held accountable for their malpractice methods that "quietly" pay off those informed affected but neglect to sound the alarm to all their remaining victims. My quality of life has diminished and could be permanently destroyed. No amount of money for pain and suffering could compensate me or my loved ones for at the age of 60, I will never be able to do any substantial work or possibly ever work again.

  • Nickelodeon: Make a TV Movie of the Search for Zuko's Mom
In a recent blog post, Mike Dante DiMartino, co-creator of Avatar: The Last Airbender, posted the following: "While we were working on Book 1 of Korra, Bryan and I pitched a TV movie version of the search for Zuko's mom to Nickelodeon. They weren't interested in doing animated TV movies, and chose to pick up Book 2 of Korra instead." Source: http://mikedimartinostory.com/2013/03/20/you-really-want-to-know-what-happened-to-zukos-mom/ While it is unclear from the context of the post why Nickelodeon was not interested in doing a TV movie of The Search, most fans strongly support this idea and would undoubtedly be willing to tune in in huge numbers and buy DVDs, making Nickelodeon a huge profit. It's possible the reason that they did not pick up the idea is that they didn't think it would be popular. Let's show Nickelodeon how profitable picking up a movie about the search for Zuko's mom would be and perhaps they will reconsider. Note that this is a fan-made petition and that the creator of this petition has no affiliation with either Nickelodeon or the creators of Avatar: The Last Airbender.
