This is not a friendly atmosphere to work in when you never know when your medical will be dropped. It would be the first labor strike in the West Sacramento-based company's 77-year history. The company has announced that all non-management positions will have their hours reduced to 28 a week. Gary Burdette, Vice President of Operations for the local franchise, says the cuts are coming because the new Affordable Health Care Act requires employers to offer health insurance to employees working 32-38 hours a week. Under the current law they are not considered full time and that as a small business owner, he can't afford to stay in operation and pay for everyone's health insurance. The South Carolina General Assembly is currently debating a bill named the “School District Choice Program and Open Enrollment Program” (Senate Bill 313). If passed, this legislation would enable families within the state of South Carolina a greater choice of which public school their children attend. This bill states that it will “promote student achievement by making the South Carolina public school system the most choice-driven public school system in the nation by increasing student participation in, and student access to, public school educational opportunities both within and outside of their resident school district, regardless of where they live or their socioeconomic status.” It is critical that we make our voices for change and freedom of choice be known to our leaders in the South Carolina legislature. The guidelines for Low Income Federal Tax Credit Buildings expired 10 years ago but were never updated leaving disabled and retired seniors and other low income families suffering financially due to this oversight. With the advancement of non lethal ammunition we should push for legislation of live ammo restriction. Non lethal ammunition such as rubber bullets can be used for personal defense of self and home without violating the second amendment. Saving the lives of countless people if we can begin to push for live ammunition to be restricted to just hunters, shooting ranges, special police units(i.e. swat), and the military.

The new rules, as of March 2013, say "miles may not be transfered...upon death." However, the 2012 rule book states: "While the Miles expire upon a Member’s death, the Administrator or Executor of the Member’s Estate may request Delta reinstate and transfer the Miles from the deceased Member’s account to one or more members’ accounts." The City of Joliet is currently proposing building a corporate owned, for profit immigration detention center. If allowed, it would be Illinois' first and would make way for other similar facilities to be built in the state.
