Before Haley took office there was RESOURCES established by Lt Gov Bauer for Seniors & the Elderly , 2 weeks after (SHE) took office these programs were CUT or Deleted. There are many seniors who have worked hard for this state thier entire life. Many are HOMELESS or on the verge of being without a place to stay. the Elderly has to stand or wait in lines for at least 5 to 8 hours at local agencies for assistance with UTILITY bills only to be told there is NO MORE FUNDS AVAILABLE. Now Haley REFUSES to accept any FEDERAL MONEY!!! We the ELDERLY, SICK, need help .

My petition is about the the Americans that worked long and hard for OUR benefits. These are not entitlements like WELFARE!! This is the money we paid into and were GUARANTEED until our death!! If you fail to do any of the following: raise taxes on the wealthiest Americans, Take the war monies and spend it on America's infrastructures, and stop giving oil companies subsidies, we will do everything in our power to tear down the Republicans next election.

Education, public safety, infrastructure, courts, libraries, and social services in California have been slashed year after year since 1978, when Proposition 13 amended the state Constitution to lower property taxes and prevent them from rising more than a small amount per year. Property is reassessed to market value only when it is sold, but a sale is defined as a transfer of 50% or more to one owner. Big businesses now structure sales to multiple owners, so that no one buyer owns 50%, the property avoids reassessment, and taxes stay artificially low. Homeowners now bear a larger share of property taxes than corporations, reversing the proportions before Prop 13 passed.

Michigan's Emergency Management Law should be declared unconstitutional. Rick Snyder has taken away the power of several elected officials in his state. Even after the original emergency manager law was overturned, they just passed a new one. This can't be constitutional. But if it is, then why not take the law to it's logical conclusion. If the State of Michigan has so many cities in such bad shape, such that the governor can usurp the power of his cities' mayors, then why can't the Feds usurp HIS power as a governor?

This Act would require all US Senators to reduce their salaries and expenses by 50% before cutting funding for other programs.

The petition is about continuing government funding for the Civil Air Patrol that saves lives. I'm a mother of a formal officer cadet of the Civil Air Patrol for a term of 5 plus years that is now in the United States Air Force. We have already secured 938 signatures but our goal has to be 1000 by the end of today March 18, 2013.

Plastic bags are a menace to our ecosystem. Barely recyclable, almost all of the 3,000 bags used in this country per second are discarded. Once discarded, they either enter our landfills or our marine ecosystem.

Maine's U.S. Senators, Susan Collins and Angus King, will be major figures in the debate about immigration reform this year. We need Senator Collins and Senator King to support immigration reform with a pathway to citizenship for the 11 million immigrants currently living in the United States without documentation. Many of these immigrants have lived in this country for more than a decade and have come to America to seek a better life for their families. They are Americans-in-waiting who are ready to fulfill the requirements of our citizenship process: to study English, pay taxes, and continue to contribute to our economy and community. We need a new approach to immigration that keeps families together and provides a path to citizenship.

It's simple. Separation of chuch and state. If these right-wing churches want to push politics, make them pay by removing their tax exempt status. I am so tired of hearing how a person's right to choose his or her religion is above my fundamental rights as a citizen of this great country. By allowing churches to preach politics from their pulpits, they infringe on my rights and should have to pay taxes. They want to "vote" by opening their mouths and telling their congregations who to vote for and what to support, they need to pay with their pocketbooks, just like the rest of us.

Let's encourage our legislators to work within a timeframe by not rewarding poor work habits.
