The US government's incapacity to conduct widespread testing has slowed diagnoses, thereby creating chains of infections. Also, this has deprived epidemiologists of a map that could tell how far and how fast the virus is traveling and where the US should concentrate our efforts to slow it down.

Giant restaurant chains have a public health responsibility to do what they can to stop the spread of Coronavirus to their customers and employees. But Applebee's, IHOP, Denny's, and Chili's don't offer Paid Sick Days to their employees. That means that their servers and cooks are more likely to work sick, threatening to fuel the spread of this pandemic. The Olive Garden's parent company took a big leadership step in responding to the COVID-19 crisis by announcing a new policy of Paid Sick Days for their employees. The largest restaurant chains, serving the most customers and employing the most servers and cooks, have the responsibility to do everything they can to make their restaurants help stop the spread of COVID-19. The Restaurant Opportunities Centers United (@ROCUnited) is leading the demand for these restaurants to offer Paid Sick Days to their employees. We're hoping to amplify their voice by supporting their call to action for Applebee's, IHOP, Denny's, and Chili's, to do their part to #StopTheSpread!

There are many dog owners in the Moon Valley area, yet our closest dog park is Deer Valley Park, which is 6-7 miles away. The residents of Moon Valley already walk their dogs in our park, but we need a safe and convenient place for our dogs to play.

Students' Health Should Be WCPSS #1 Goal and with the coronavirus spreading and infecting 7 individuals in North Carolina, we shouldn’t be taking any chances.

Every time we send our children to school we are putting them in danger of catching this viral sickness going around. If we do not bring this to the districts attention then I fear many more cases will be exposed throughout the valley.

To establish a new progressive party with enough support.

In 2019, the Bentonville School Board revised the Off-Campus Education/Student Travel policy to minimize absences and limit travel expenses. The policy now limits travel every year to a 300-mile radius, only allowing students to travel outside of this radius every other year unless they have a state-level ranking. The problem is: There is no state-level ranking system in Arkansas for Orchestra (as is common in other student activities) and there are no national orchestra competitions within this 300-mile radius that are adequate for the level of skill in the BHS Orchestras. Competitions and conventions such as ASTA (American String Teachers Association) provide high-value classes and experiences to students and teachers. It is extremely important that BHS Orchestras are able to travel every year in order to access opportunities like this! However, under the current policy, Orchestra is only able to travel every other year. We propose amending the board policy to include the following statement: "If no state-level competition is available, students may travel outside this radius once per year.” This will give equal opportunities to all departments, including Orchestra.

It's the facts and we need to rally to awaken State Reps, State Senators, US Congressional Delegation and allies.

Coronavirus has exposed the cracks in our social safety net for today's families. Our society is only as healthy as its most vulnerable members. Our short and long term caregiving systems and social safety net are broken and must be transformed. Year after year, Congress has underinvested in working families putting entire communities at risk. Today that has never been more clear. Our country’s social safety net can’t continue to be patchwork and spotty. Support shouldn’t depend on your zip code and who you work for. Like paid family and medical leave, paid sick days are often least accessible to the people who need it the most. With coronavirus impacting people today, Congress must act immediately to protect the health of our communities and ensure all working families get immediate support. This support must include paid sick days and improved unemployment benefits for working people who lose hours or jobs. Congress and the White House must ensure a stimulus package reflects the needs of all working people, not just businesses impacted. A payroll tax cut only helps those who are receiving pay - not those who are hourly workers that are missing work or have lost their jobs, excluding a critical part of the working population. In this time of crisis, we must ensure that no family has to choose between caring for themselves, their loved ones and a paycheck. Coronavirus is an inflection point: we can fix a broken system that isn’t adequately supporting today’s working families and creating long term costs. We can rebuild the continuum of care systems, from paid sick days to paid family and medical leave for every working person so our systems are responsive to what people actually need.

The Federal Government is telling anyone who exhibits flulike symptoms to get tested for coronavirus. But for the millions of people in this country without health insurance, that test could break the bank, with people reporting over $1,000 fees for emergency visits. And that doesn't even touch the economic cost of treatment if someone without insurance tests positive or needs to be hospitalized. In a public health crisis, people not getting the care they need doesn't just hurt them; it hurts all of us, making virus carriers more likely to go undiagnosed, spreading Coronavirus to others.

This is important because as we know the corona virus is highly contagious and can be spread easily. All it takes is one kid and by the end of the week there will be tens of cases all over Oceanside. We just want our families to remain safe from this virus that is rapidly spreading and evolving all over the globe before anybody else can catch it and give it to our loved ones.

While many animal hospitals are still small, local operations owned by independent practitioners, over the past few years, large corporate animal hospital chains have aggressively expanded across the state. Today, over ten percent of animal hospitals in California are owned by a corporate chain. Mars, Inc., a $36 billion dollar multinational company primarily known for its candy, is the largest provider of veterinary services in the world: Mars alone owns over 300 hospitals in California and over 2000 hospitals across the country. Local communities pay the price when large corporations take over animal hospitals. Hospital consolidation often increases healthcare costs, corporate animal hospital expansion reduces choice for both consumers and veterinary professionals, and quality of care and employee well-being often suffer. Tell California State Legislators that we need AB 3201 to protect our pets and local communities and stop the “Walmart-ization” of the animal hospital industry.
