• LET THE PEOPLE VOTE
I keep hearing stories from friends across the country about how difficult it has become to vote for our elected officials. What if voting was made so easy that we had a national holiday so that we can all go to the polls to vote in November? What if you brought your kids with you to the voting polls and there were games for them geared to learning about our political system? Let's pass this onward as part of our duty as Citizens!

  • Stand with Chicago Teachers Union
Our teachers are under attack. Chicago's teachers have been fighting to save school libraries, art and music education and, funding so students can learn in classrooms with air-conditioning. When Chicago Public Schools CEO J.C. Brizard refused to compromise, Chicago's Teachers Union voted to strike to save public schools. Now anti-union special interests are attacking the Chicago teachers union claiming greed and self interest. Save our schools, stand with Chicago Teachers today!

  • Legalize Medical Marijuana in Florida
One of my best friends has cancer and medicinal marijuana is the only thing that helps ease the pain and restore her appetite. The state of Florida should join over a dozen states and allow sick people to purchase medicinal marijuana prescribed by their doctor. To jail seriously ill patients over their medicine is cruel and wrong.

  • Stop Freight Brokers Greed
I am a Truck Driver a small business owner. The major issue I and many other Independent Drivers are concerned about is Government regulation on Capitol Hill in the Transportation Industry we need Broker Reform with the rising fuel prices, toll road prices and greedy freight brokers it’s an strain on the small self-employed Trucker. Freight Brokers have no cap on the amount of revenue they earn for just setting up a load. They offer insulting low rates for hauling our Country products. The Rates are so low that you would be practically hauling the load for free. I would like to get the attention of the Senators and other legislators who directly impact this industry. This multi-billion dollar industry has been unregulated since the early 80's and the big corporations and brokerages has been having their way for too long please let’s take action. Thank You

I need some one who has drafted legislation to address this travesty of justice. My niece Lanie was killed by a hit-and-run driver in Richmond while riding her bike home from work on Jul 29. My sister, whose youngest was taken away at age 24, and her two sisters are devastated. The hit-and-run driver showed up six days later, sober and sorry. I'm sorry, after looking at his vehicle and the damage from the collision–he fled the scene knowing what he did. His dad is a prominent attorney (for DUI no less) and they are talking about change of venue and unfair media coverage. When I saw a picture of the vehicle (all of the evidence has trickled out) I became outraged. This kid (30, but I question his maturity level) has gotten away with manslaughter. We need a law in Virginia and other states that penalizes hit-and-run drivers that don't submit to a drug/alcohol test within hours of the crime. Meaning they are presumed guilty of driving under the influence if they do not submit, and thus stiffer jail sentences (and hopefully less bail availability). Ironclad it for Congress by with-holding federal highway funds from the "good-old-boy" states like Virginia that protect their network. www.lanie.me has more information. If you can wait until tomorrow after reviewing, that is fine. Thank you, her Uncle Tim

  • Overturn Citizens United: Get corporate money out of politics
Get the Washington State Legislature to pass a resolution calling on the U.S. Congress to pass a constitutional amendment that reverses the 2010 Supreme Court's Citizens United decision. Corporations are not entitled to the same constitutional rights as people. Regulating political contributions and spending is not equivalent to limiting political speech.

  • bus entrance to soho
About a year ago, MTA cancelled the bus stop at West Broadway and Houston, the literal entrance to SoHo. It is so inconvenient, not only to the thousands of artists and high-end shops in SoHo, but for tourists wanting to get right into the heart of this renowned neighborhood without having to walk from the subway at Bleecker or 7th Avenue. It makes financial good sense to make it easy for residents and tourists to get to SoHo and be welcomed!

  • Free coffee on voting night
Long lines have required voters to wait hours to vote in past presidential elections. New restrictions on early voting will mean a return to long lines. Voters in every precinct who are willing to wait hours in line should receive free coffee, tea, or water to make their wait easier, and recognize that every vote counts.

  • Support Politax
POLITAX–A 100% tax on all political advertising. This way those buying our politicians can pay for the rest of us too. The tax (of matching funds) would be used to pay off the national debt. After that, the surplus could be used for education and health care for years to come.
