Governors To Be Held Accountable for Preventable Disabilities and DeathsRepublican Governors have threatened to block Medicaid coverage for qualified people in their states thru the ACA ("ObamaCare") plan when offered in 2014. Our petition seeks to hold those Governors AND Legislatures civilly and criminally responsible for all disabilities and/or deaths which could have been prevented by Medicaid coverage after 2014 in those states.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by J.Johnston

Since Michigan passed a law permitting these devices, the public abuse begins in late June for several months, often late at night. Unhealthy for seniors, small children and even animals. 911 is overwhelmed with calls about this problem.35 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Cynthia Wilson

Let's fix Congress nowWarren Buffett, in a recent interview with CNBC, offers one of the best quotes about the debt ceiling: "I could end the deficit in 5 minutes," he told CNBC. "You just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election. Congressional Reform Act of 2011 1. No Tenure / No Pension. A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they're out of office. 2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security. All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose. 3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do. 4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%. 5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people. 6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people. 7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are void effective 1/1/12. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen/women. Congressmen/women made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The founding fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.229 of 300 SignaturesCreated by [email protected]

Stand with Bede: Tell American Airlines discrimination of children with Down syndrome is Un-AmericanAmerican Airlines prevented Bede, a teenager with Down syndrome, from flying first class. He and his family were forced to change planes and were seated in the last row of coach with a buffer of empty seats. This type of blatant discrimination is unacceptable.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by David Chernicoff

Tell Dunkin' Donuts: No more styrofoamDunkin' Donuts is the largest coffee and baked goods chain in the world. In fact, the company sells more coffee than Starbucks. Each day the company serves an amazing 3 million people which leads to yearly sales of 4.7 million. The problem with this is that Dunkin' Donuts also has made the very dangerous and cheep corporate decision to serve all of their coffee in styrofoam cups. According to the Earth Research Foundation polystyrene also known as styrofoam is a petroleum-based plastic made from the styrene monomer.Styrene is classified as a possible human carcinogen by the EPA and by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC). A voluntary compliance program has been adopted by industries using styrene. The US Department of Labor, Occupational Safety & Health Administration unsuccessfully (a federal court overturned the ruling in 1992) tried to limit the amount of worker exposure to styrene to 50 parts per million (ppm). According to the Styrene Information and Research Center (SIRC). Styrofoam contains many toxic chemicals which leach out of these products into the food that they contain (especially when heated in a microwave or when served with hot food or liquids, including piping hot coffee. These chemicals threaten human health and reproductive systems. There is extensive research in the endocrinological dangers associated with the chemicals found in polystyrene containers. These include increase in breast and testicular cancer. THE BRIGHT SIDE OF CHANGE- -Post-consumer recycled paper, bamboo, corn plastics, etc. are easily renewable resources. -All of these products biodegrade when composted. -Paper products can be recycled at most people's doorstep where community recycling is in place. -In 1995, 40% of all US paper was recycled, including 32.6 million tons of paper & paperboard. (EPA) -Every ton of 100% Post-consumer waste recycled paper products you buy saves: 12 trees 1,087 pounds of solid waste 1,560 kilowatts of energy (2 months of electric power required by the average US home) 1,196 gallons of water 1,976 lbs. of greenhouse gases (1,600 miles traveled in the average US car) 3 cubic yards of landfill space 9 pounds of HAPs, VOCs, and AOXs combined 390 gallons of oil126 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Alisa Shargorodsky

Parking for NYC TeachersNYC Teachers have been denied the number of parking permits needed to accomodate all staff staff members who drive in (many from long distances) to do a thankless job. Under the new regime created by Mayor Bloomeburg, schools all over the city have been allocated a mere ten parking permits per school building. This has caused much trouble and has put a strain on many a teacher's budget (due to tickets and garage fees). We need to stand behind our teachers and accommodate all of those, ( who commute, what at times seems like endless hours) and who willingly come in early(without compensation) to prepare to help our children succeed. only to arrive at their school sites and be forced to drive around (sometimes in unsafe neighborhoods) in circles looking for parking instead of getting into school building early as intended and using this donated time to make certain the day's lessons are appropriate for all students or modify if not. I believe that teachers (in spite of all the negative perception) play a huge role in nurturing and molding future citizens. Teachers face countless of barriers in this endeavor and parking shouldn't be yet another distraction to this end. Please support our teachers and help alleviate this un necessary distraction.13 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Brenda Cartagena

Help Children Keep Their Sanityfor people to stop acting like child sex abuse doesn't exist in the homes and that children may have been kidnapped that are attending a school that school staff never care to notice, and start having awareness about it all big time ...make meetings between only the whole schools and the students as a sort of audience to speakers and then some sort of chance for the studnets to share their comments1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Yvonne Reyes
