  • No Child Left Behind?
Children at 5 years can begin school as a Kindergartener as long as their birthday is BEFORE September 1st of that school year. This has been going on for years and it is not fair. If a child is going to be 5 years old that school year, they should be allowed to start school with everyone else instead of being held back a year.

  • Economic Justice for all Americans
We are asking the United States Government to make good on the economic acts to empower black Americans and other races as they agreed to do. To save the American economy our government gave bail outs to save America's economy. We are asking for the American people to be bailed out of these hard economic times. As for the black nation of people living in America, we demand economic justice for 200 years of slavery, 120 years of seperate by equal laws and 47 years mass incarcerations and unjust laws, we demand that the economic playing field be equal and every family be given economic freedom in place of land ownership, that was to be given under the 40 acres and mule and other local laws that were not given.

  • Stop SB #1466--budget cuts for disabled individuals!
We thank the PA appropriations committee for their restoration of the 20% cuts that were originally proposed. We have 10% more to fight for! Senate Bill #1466 would cut that funding. Let's tell our state senate and house of representatives to leave these funds untouched!

  • Save Cal Grants
The Cal Grant program helps thousands of students attend college each year, and the new plan to raise the GPA minimum would derail over 26,600 students. Denying financial aid to these individuals would greatly increase California’s dropout rate, creating problems that extend far beyond the education system.

  • NO NEW SNOQUALMIE HOSPITAL
The hospital's administration has created, and presides over, a culture of corruption. To feed their egocentric narcissism and keep receiving their exhorbitant salaries, they continue to manipulate a weak, co-opted board. Over the last 6 years, the board has voted unanimously 99.5% of the time for everything the self-serving administration has proposed. The new hospital decision was reached in secret meetings to avoid a vote or public input. A new hospital would be only nine (9) miles from Swedish/Issaquah and cost $38.5 million, or $101.4 million with the lease-purchase scheme. This is beyond stupid and wastes scarce health care dollars, including Medicare & Medicaid.

  • Get Out of Afghanistan in 2012
You should support this petition is you think that the U.S. should get out of Afghanistan this year, not 2 1/2 years down the road (with training troops etc to remain for many more years), as proposed by President Obama. We can't afford the lives lost and damaged, the cost of the war, the effect of our continued presence there as an incentive for anti-American terrorism.

  • Stop wasting our money!
The federal government thinks they aren't doing their job unless they're creating new programs and agencies that rely on taxpayer funding. We're broke! The ability to spend money collected under force of law is a sacred trust which has been repeatedly and habitually violated for decades. Not only do they need to stop creating new programs, but they need to phase out everything that is not mandated by the U.S. Constitution.

  • Everyone Votes
We need to follow Australia's lead ... make voting compulsory, with a fine for not voting ($250 there). It would guarantee that any elected representative has a REAL majority of support; it would negate any need for spending money to "get out the vote", which in turn negates any need for registering as a Party affiliate or "Independent" - and, it would minimize politicians pandering to small but "noisy" pressure groups, because he/she would have to appeal to the broadest section of the society ... the middle. .

  • Support Maine Democrats in Boycotting the Budget Vote
Governor Paul LePage and the Republicans in the Maine State Legislature have decided they will pass a budget cutting key health and social welfare programs for the most vulnerable members of Maine society without input from the Democratic members of the Legislature. The Maine Democrats feel they have no alternative but to capitulate because Republicans have the majority and "Democrats don't fight." This petition would be sent to all of Move On Maine stakeholders to urge the Democrats in the state legislature to boycott the vote on the Maine House floor.
