• Tell the CPUC to break up the PG&E monopoly!
PG&E is asking to raise ratepayers' rates AGAIN while state lawmakers scramble to limit the utility's liability for the deaths and damages resulting from PG&E's negligence, even after it has been announced by the CPUC that PG&E has been falsifying documents since the San Bruno tragedy. Anyone else would have gone to prison yet PG&E has repeatedly been rewarded by receiving approval to raise rates to cover the costs of their criminal conduct. Lawmakers claim they are concerned about the effect PG&E's demise may have, but seem to ignore the immense economic impact PG&E's years of criminal conduct has had on our state. Tell the CPUC that PG&E has cost us enough! CPUC- do your job and break up PG&E- it's time to start over.

  • Open the government- No wall!
The administration is distracting attention from his personal woes by not paying government employees including my friends for their work and making up imaginary border threats in order to retain his tenuous hold of control.

  • Animal Welfare
I am starting this petition because our nation needs to be far more tough on those who neglect, abuse or inflict cruelty upon an animal. Animals in the United States are treated as far less significant victims of neglect, abuse and cruelty than human victims. This needs to change. Human beings must act as a voice for the voiceless. "Anytime any animal is neglected, abused or the victim of cruelty, I am personally affected by it."

  • Not One Penny
The president promised the American people that Mexico would pay for his ridiculous and pointless wall. Now he wants to coerce Americans into paying for it by shutting down the government and blaming Democrats for his inability to get his program through. He must not succeed with this extortion!

  • No Salary When the Government Shuts Down
I am starting this petition since this is the 3rd shutdown under Trump. Maybe if our representatives were affected then this would not continue to happen!

  • Protect Our Natural Resources, Parks, and Monuments
Our parks and monuments are important geological sites, producing amazing fossils that rewrote what we know about history, such as the Triassic-era Phytosaur fossils of the Bears Ears national monument and the Dinosaur fossils and very rare Mammal fossils of the Escalante national monument. Greedy corporatists want to destroy these lands and fill their pockets, while paying off kleptocrat politicians such as the GOP. This move is anti-science, and anyone with half a brain could see the geological importance of these lands. These federal lands are also important, because they produce archeological artifacts. One notable example is Bears Ears, which contains artifacts dating back to around 11,000 years ago. These artifacts are significant because they could give us clues into how the first Native Americans in North America lived as they traveled the continent. These lands are also sacred to the Native Americans, with rituals being important to their ancestors and the various local tribes of each national monument/park. Destroying these lands to benefit some corporate kleptocrat is infringing upon the religious freedom of Native Americans. How would Christian’s feel if people did the same to Jerusalem? These lands are also beautiful, and are worth preserving for future generations. They bring lots of tourists, who bring lots of money to local businesses. This benefits local economies. Therefore, it is not economically sustainable and extremely shortsited to destroy these lands.

  • Agenda for Senate and Congress during 2019
I have listed the four things I believe are needed to be handled first and could make a great difference in our lives. The only other thing I wanna oils add is better healthcare for veterans and universal care for all of the US citizens, NO WALL, and get back to following the laws on the books for people seeking asylum without hurting children and families.

  • End Corporate Personhood
Greed is rotting our democracy from the inside. Corporations are now too big to fail, they write our laws, and they and the wealthy own the political process. Citizens United is more of a threat to our country than any standing army or criminal President ever will be.

  • Protect Free Speech at UT Austin & College Campuses
I am a student at the University of Texas at Austin (UT) and believe UT's ban on "rude" speech should be more specific. As a student, I feel banning "rude" speech is too subjective and could allow UT to punish students for many different types of speech. This limits students' First Amendment rights.

  • Protect Violence Against Women Act
The government shutdown officially began at 12.22.18, which means the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) has expired and programs that assist survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault will be left without funding. The National Taskforce Against Domestic Violence founder Sabrina Mckenzie is standing in solidarity with Women across the nation to resist the idea of building a wall to protect citizens from potential danger outside when we should be demanding monies to protect women from the existing dangers that women experience inside the country each day when every nine seconds a woman is abused. We are calling for a protest and boycott against the wall and demanding that the government shut-down come to an end so that families at the border can feed their children. Furthermore, we insist on the release of funding under the VAWA Act that protects women and children. We have convened a non-partisan ecumenical coalition of high powered women leaders and community activists who are supporting the rights and protection of all women.
