AMAZON SHOULD INVEST IN ITS EMPLOYEES AND THE COMMUNITIES WHERE IT OPERATESAmazon is one of the wealthiest corporations, and it's been attacked and criticized for its miserly employment policies. We will continue to purchase from Amazon only if the Company makes big changes to the way they compensate and care for their workers, and if they invest a portion of their profits to improve the communities where they operate by supporting child care, health care, affordable housing, and transportation.136 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Margherita Pagni

Restore Homeland Security to America and AmericansEvery American should be concerned with the risk of our national security that worse attack than 911 on the American soil is pending and is coming. We have all to be more vigilant and be more aware of possible terrorist acts and reporting to any local and federal agency immediately without any hesitation.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Daphne Martindell

Petition for Honduras 2020Hola! My name is Angelica Garcia-Cruces and as perhaps many of you may know, there will not be a Honduras trip in the Spring of 2020. When I first heard this, I was very disappointed because I not only was looking forward to this trip and wonderful experience to be in Central America, but it also was the trip that fit best into my schedule in order to receive a Spanish Major. As someone in the education program, finding time to fit study abroad trips in my schedule is quite difficult and the trip to Honduras is what I have been planning on. Also, as a Latino student, getting to travel abroad to a country in Latin America is very important to me because it allows me to learn more about the culture of my neighbors in Honduras, to speak Spanish that is similar to the Spanish spoken in the United States (which are the primary people that I will be speaking Spanish with in my job and day to day life), and I have heard that it is one of the study abroad trips with a higher retention rate of the Spanish language than one like Spain. Having to do a semester in Spain is not only more expensive but it also does not allow me to experience Latin American culture which is something that is important to me and many others. If you feel the way I do and would like to go abroad to Honduras in 2020 please sign the petition, I am creating to send to the Director of Off-Campus Programs that may help us get the program back. If you have friends who might be interested in this petition, please send it to them if you would like to. Thank you! Light up the White House goldI had ALL when I was 3 years old and millions of children have multiple pediatric cancers and it doesn't get the noticed like it should. Only 3.8% of funds go Childhood cancer. The White House gets lit up for fallen officers and for breast cancer, why not childhood cancer? Even if it is for one night in September! Our children are worth that.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Katherine Dobbins

Stand with the faculty and students at Florida Polytechnic UniversityAs you may have seen in the news, Florida Polytechnic University’s administration has recently opted to eliminate the positions of Librarian and Wellness Counselor. Consequently, they laid off the only employee on campus with intimate knowledge of the digital library’s day-to-day operations, as well as the sole licensed mental health counselor on a remote campus. Part of a larger trend, these were the seventh and eighth in a series of lay-offs and terminations since the end of the spring semester that appears aimed at staff who have spoken about safety problems, legal and ethical issues, and other problems plaguing the university. These and other actions have created a toxic atmosphere in which faculty and staff do not feel it is safe to speak up on pertinent issues related to their job. While the union has tried time and time again to work with the administration, it has become increasingly clear that improving the work environment is not in their best interests. Given that Florida Polytechnic University is a public institution with the mission of serving the students and public in the state of Florida, these actions raise questions about the true priorities of the administration: Is it truly their mission to provide the best possible learning and research environment? Or is their goal to silence critics?1,035 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Aurora Gonzalez

Tell Senator Collins to defend women's rights and vote NO on Kavanaugh!I am a woman's advocate and have lived through a time when women's rights were in the hands of men when women had to beg permission to protect their own bodies. Roe is part of a proud legacy fought for and won by hundreds of brave resilient women. How can we relegate it to the whims and ideology of one man? There are currently at least 13 abortion cases which could make their way to the Supreme Court should Kavanaugh be confirmed, and it's no secret that anti-abortion activists hand picked him to carry out their agenda. How can we relegate it to the whims and ideology of one man? Senator Collins must listen to the people of Maine as a key vote in rejecting Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation.800 of 1,000 SignaturesCreated by Patricia Fogg

Democratic Senators Sue to #stopKavanaugh, and judicial tamperingAny issues that happen in this country- the buck stops at the Supreme Court, from surveillance to torture, to the Presidency itself- Bush v Gore, are strongly affected by the courts. We'd had a conservative court for decades, then Bush v Gore continued the conservative lifecycle, and McConnell took on the role of Senate and President, refusing to schedule hearings because he knew Obama's nominees would be confirmed, and the process of the democratic republic would be fulfilled. Ice Is Manipulating Congress To Fund Their TerrorImmigration and Customs Enforcement and U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents are continuing to commit abominable violence against immigrants and people of color. Despite this, ICE’s budget for immigration detention and enforcement has jumped by almost a billion dollars in the last two years through a combination of reckless spending and secretive transfers of money. And now they’re at it again, trying to get a special increase in funding for immigration detention in the short-term funding bill expected to be passed by the end of the month. There is no question that this money causes tremendous harm in the hands of an agency responsible for deaths and widespread sexual assault in detention, violent raids, the separation of thousands of families, and more. We can’t allow ICE to continue manipulating the budget process as they violate basic human rights. We are committed to protecting our communities from the terror of Trump’s deportation force. We call on Congress to stop the special funding increase for detention and not allow ICE and CBP to manipulate them into increasing their funding.1,215 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Mary Small

Ask American Airlines not to cancel the route PAP - JFKOur petition is to request that American Airlines reconsiders the decision to cancel the direct flight from Port-au-Prince to New-York starting November 3, 2018. Cancelling this flight will affect millions of travelers on the North-East coast traveling to Haiti. Also, it eliminate price competitivity for all travelers on the circuit Port-au-Prince/New-York. We need American Airlines to remain present on this route.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Lima Beauvais

National solidarity needed for Michigan workersIn spring and early summer, hundreds of thousands of voters signed a petition supporting a ballot a measure to increase Michigan's minimum wage to $12 per hour and to phase out the subminimum tipped wage. On August 24, the Board of State Canvassers voted to certify the ballot initiative. Now, Republicans in the Michigan state legislature are trying to bypass the voters by adopting the ballot measure language with a plan to amend it later in November after their own elections are over. We, the undersigned people, demand that the Michigan state legislators respect the democratic process and let the people vote on the minimum wage initiative in November. People power put the initiative on the ballot, and if we don’t let the public decide what's best for our communities, this type of anti-worker attack will take place in our own local communities, too. All eyes on Michigan during the next week. Let's come together nationwide to support workers who need us now!5,728 of 6,000 SignaturesCreated by Jane Fonda and Restaurant Opportunities Centers (ROC) United

No service changes or cuts to the Southwest Chief routeI am starting this start this petition cause these proposed service cuts or alternatives can lead to the eventual dismantling of the National Amtrak Network, start with the Southwest Chief. I am petitioning you all to reconsider your position on the Southwest Chief. I understand you’re trying to make Amtrak great again with improved safety features, schedules and customer satisfaction which is commendable. Amtrak does need to be modernized and brought into the 21st century to be more competitive with air/ bus. I can respect that. Amtrak sure has needed a boost. However, it really concerns me on how you and the Amtrak board have taken the position on PTC with an Iron Fist. The FRA has granted Main line track exemptions to the BNSF railway for the Raton Subdivision and Parts of the Glorieta Subdivision owned by BNSF railway. vI see your point in wanting to make the route safer. However there has not been a single death and or derail on those subdivisions. Last I checked PTC was adopted for rail lines transporting heavy freight loads and passenger trains and has more than 15 trains per day. You’re wanting to put PTC on Raton & Glorieta Pass when the only user is the Southwest Chief? I’ve photographed the train in the last decade and the route needs better signals and sidings, along with bridges, and maybe in 5 years upgraded rail. There is a signal system in place it’s been working for years with our incident. That is only my personal opinion as a photographer who is out there daily photographing the train. What Amtrak’s main goal should be is replacing the super liner fleet and P42s. Those are in need of attention and upgrades. However back to the Chief. The bus bridge you all propose would only dismantle the route with eventual discontinuance of the route in a decade or less due to lower and lower ridership. I read in the press how Amtrak mentions the Chief is losing money. But public transportation is not designed to make money and profit entirely. You’re gonna have days when you make money and days you won’t. As a rider who uses the Chief on both ends of the spectrum via Albuquerque can tell you I will not be riding Amtrak anymore if a bus bridge is installed along with many other riders I also know. I plead with you and ask you not let this train fade into history by setting into motion the bus bridge. There is a reason why people take trains to see scenery not seen from the highway. Also your bus bridge is also a major concern on a logistics level and safety level. Raton pass is a steep climb for both trains and vehicles. But during the winter months the pass is closed for white out conditions at times and or severe black ice. Now can you all fully explain to me how Amtrak intends to bus passengers to meet with Train 4 in Kansas when the NMDOT & CDOTs may close I-25? Are there plans in place if a bus was to crash due to black ice or snow conditions? But wait - when the highway is closed the railroads stay open or have delays. I’ve personally seen the Chief climb through the pass at safe speeds and successfully make it to every station when the Interstate highway is closed. Now has Amtrak addressed that the NMDOT (NMRX) territory East Isleta to ESS Lamy did get there full funding to implement PTC in the NMRX ABQ Subdivision? NMRX ROW ends in Lamy, so would Amtrak operate the Southwest Chief to terminate in Lamy if PTC is underway and then operational on the NMRX line, with a bus bridge in place? There are so many questions that you all have not fully addressed and or not been fully transparent about. Remember, Amtrak is a railroad and not an airline. I can understand certain talking points presented by you guys at Amtrak but I cannot accept the fact you all won’t cooperate in the matter to ensure rural Kansas, Colorado and New Mexico have transportation. To be honest, it seems you are wanting your passengers and or shareholders including stakeholders to bow to your will and accept what is. Congress stands with us Amtrak passengers, why can’t Amtrak stand behind its own passengers? One final thought; remember Amtrak stands for American Track, not NEC Track or New England Track - American Track! And it’s your sole responsibility to provide us Americans the transportation needed to get us from A to B. So please Mr. Anderson have an open mind and work with us and not against us. Hear what your passengers have to say. We want the Southwest Chief service to remain as is with no service interruptions and no bus bridge. Also for my Delegation members who represent me in Washington D.C I thank you so much for the support and resources given to fight this issue. To quote Senator Hendrich “We have fought for the Southwest Chief, we will fight for it again” Which is so true. But also I beg of you members of the Senate and House of Representatives, along with yourself Mr. President. We need to look into these issues further and assist Amtrak in repairs and operations for the National Network. We cannot let this issue keep dragging on. Also we need to have some more congressional oversight on Amtrak & there business dealings. If Amtrak seeks to abandon routes and or stub routes with Buses replacing part of the route all because Amtrak does not want to pay operational & maintenance costs from now to 2030. We need congress to put Amtrak in check. There are so many towns and cities without airports and greyhound which have Amtrak stations and heavily depend and rely on them. For Richard Anderson and his Board to dismiss those small towns and cities at the snap of a finger is concerning. For those in my State I please beg of you to work with the NM Delegation and all communities affected. No disrespect but from what I’ve seen with my state leaders is they wait for situations like this to resolve itself and when it can’t, they jump in at the last second. We need to be putting any available resources we can spare on a State, County, City Level. We need to ha...126 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Adrian Gurule
