We are starting this petition as the system of final exams this high school has implemented is flawed. The current system requires all grades under twelve to take the exams. This one test counts as a fifth marking period grade thus having a significant impact on a student's yearly average. This can cause stress and anxiety for having to take a test that counts as a significant portion of their yearly average. Not all students are proficient test takers and having this flaw can potentially damage their yearly average and gpa. If a high school student has an A average it proves the student has learned the subject thoroughly. There is no need for a final exam that can ruin their hard earned A average if a student is already adept in a subject. In short, the goal of this petition is to get rid of finals in all classes and electives for high school students with an A average or higher.

Gun violence is a national epidemic—which is why so many members of the Smart Girls community, an organization I founded to help young people cultivate their authentic selves, have been marching, organizing and speaking out. These smart youth get what Education Secretary DeVos doesn't: That gun violence is real, it's no joke, and we can do something about it. Members of Smart Girls also know you can't cultivate your authentic self if you're hiding in panic rooms or practicing being silent in gun violence drills. At a senate hearing, DeVos was questioned about whether the Federal Commission on School Safety, specifically formed by Donald Trump on the heels of the mass shooting in Parkland, FL, would look at the role of guns in school violence. Her answer? Nah. What’s the point of studying school safety in response to a mass shooting if it doesn’t consider the role of guns? I can't believe we need to teach this to the secretary of education! *Things the Commission is studying:* The impact of videogames on violence The impact on media on violence Effective school safety infrastructure Social emotional support Thoughts and prayers (Kidding! We made that one up!) *Things the Commission is not studying:* Guns Gun violence Gun violence prevention The minimum age for firearms purchases, even though the charter for the commission explicitly included this as an area for study Members of the commission include: Secretary DeVos, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar and Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen, all of whom seem agree that school safety is a priority and that kids should not be afraid to go to school. And yet, they’re not tackling the very crisis that led to the formation of the commission. In other words, what the heck are DeVos and Trump thinking?! Betsy DeVos has not shown herself to be a shining light in America's education system—from her attacks on transgender students to disrespect for teachers—but this is a chance where she could try to do some good. Instead she and Trump's other appointees are looking to waste our money, ignore a critical issue, and cover up for gun lobbyists. Tell Sec. DeVos: Gun violence IS a school safety issue! Take it seriously and include it in this federal commission.

According to the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 14, Asylum Seekers are not criminals. They have rights and we should accord them protections.

I have 2 sons (One an Architect in CA, One a doctor in NM.), and they are up to their eyeballs in student debt.

Traumatized people needed attention first as human beings. This is the responsibility of all human beings. The detained immigrants are at risk of illnesses that has potential to spread to others. In this day of international travel, no one is immune from disease outbreak. Mental pressure is suffering the same way as infectious disease. We have to act now as the detainees are counting down on the 20 day window before an undetermined fate.

Drivers, on a regualr basis, fail to stop for pedestrians in the crosswalk. I have almost been hit 3 times this spring when I have been going to or coming from the forest preserve. i have seen 2 bicyclists hit by cars as well.

The citizens of the United States have been adversely affected by the Senate's failure to ratify the CRC. Our tax dollars and energy have been spent on fighting the unfair treatment of children domestically and internationally. Children are denied protection in war, asylum, education, justice and family matters in our name. It is time to ratify the CRC and hold the U.S. accountable to the same standards as other United Nations member states.

Donald Trump greenlighted Keystone XL as part of his efforts to make it easier for Big Oil companies like TransCanada to put our air, water and climate at risk -- all so they can make more profits. On Tuesday June 19, 2018 the Trump Administration announced that it would withdraw the United States from the United Nations Human Rights Council. This petition is our declaration to Trump and the world that We the People of the United States wish to remain a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council.

Since 2015 the city of Vallejo has been faced with a multinational corporate plan to develop a marine terminal and a slag cement plant on our waterfront on the site of a historic flour mill on the east shore of the Napa River. We propose a healthier and sustainable alternative via the staged development of Riverwalk in order to grow Vallejo and Mare Island as a historic rivertown destination midway between San Francisco and Napa.

This Trump Policy to separate children from their parents was a Donald Trump legislation and supported by his White House, Jeff Sessions, Kirstjen Nielsen, and the GOP. They are the ones who should be paying the bills for this disgusting and immoral policy not the tax payer of this country.

Although the comment stooped to a new low, the fact he refuses to apologize for such insensitivity is unacceptable. We are asking T-Mobile to stop getting rich off Lewandowski’s hate. Lewandowski will also receive a cut of the fees paid to the lobbying firm on the T-Mobile contract. I say T-Mobile should donate that money towards reuniting immigrant children back with their families instead.
