We Kansans will no longer stand for this obstruction of data by an executively appointed branch of the Kansas government with its own body of regulations and adjudicating powers that supersede or circumvent outside state agency oversight, including our First branch of government. We the People will once again be represented in the regulations of the KCC by enacting Legislative control over the entirety of KSA 74-601 to 74-631.

The Trump administration has done everything it can to ignore climate change and promote a dangerous expansion of fossil fuel production. Governors are stepping up to take the kind of leadership on climate change missing in Washington. Governors Cuomo, Inslee, and Brown launched the U.S. Climate Alliance when Trump pulled the U.S. out of the Paris Climate Agreement. Fifteen governors have signed on. Governor Wolf is not among them. As COP 23 convenes in Germany, it's time for Governor Wolf to join with his colleagues and add Pennsylvania to the U.S. Climate Alliance. On October 23rd, 2017, the District 39 Board of Education unanimously voted on a formal statement of recommendation to the District 39 administration that "it should no longer be the practice of the district that grades for extra-curricular activities, including band, be a part of school report cards." In this statement and subsequent discussion that followed the vote, the Board has expressed a desire to alter the instrumental music program and remove its successful curricular structures, assessments, and overall accountability. Westbridge Rd. is an access road that should have a center strip like Canyon Falls Drive for safety reasons. As a two-lane access road, it is highly irregular not to have a center stripe to clearly define each side of the road.

In Memphis, 16- and 17-year-olds drive, participate in the labor force, and be tried as adults. Yet, we cannot vote to influence any of the systems that personally affect us: school, jobs, and laws. Extending voting rights will allow us to influence these systems and enter the political sphere. Increasing youth involvement and understanding in the political process will help establish a more informed community, showing that youth are present and here to get involved. People are ready to extend these rights to youth. Since 2000, there have been numerous legislative bills proposed in over twenty US states to extend the voting age. So far, two Maryland cities, Takoma Park and Hyattsville, have extended these rights to 16- and 17-year-olds in local elections. Extending voting rights to 16- and 17-year olds in Memphis is a huge step towards a more inclusive city. My daughter is in the guardianship of my sister and brother-in-law who are alienating me from her life. We have a Termination of Guardianship Trial on December 18th, 2017. I have done everything and anything that has been asked of me by the guardians and they are still fighting to return my daughter to my custody and care.

Energy Secretary Rick Perry has made heinous comments suggesting that expanding fossil fuel development will decrease incidents of sexual assault. Not only is this blatantly untrue, it is an inexcusable attempt to minimize a serious and pervasive issue. Women, and particularly women of color, are among some of the most severely impacted by the climate crisis, and it is these same communities that are most at risk of sexual assault. Rick Perry's attempt to exploit this struggle to justify further dangerous fossil fuel development is unacceptable. He does not deserve to hold office another day with these twisted ideas. Rick Perry was already unfit to lead the Department of Energy. But now, before he causes any more damage, he must resign.
