The US ranks last on the list for paid leave. In this country, and especially in the great State of Oregon, short term disability is the right thing to do as a first step towards valuing our citizens and join four other states in providing this safety net. Not only pregnant women will benefit, but those in drug and alcohol rehabilitation and disabled people awaiting their government claims. The State of California requires all employees to pay into its short-term disability insurance (SDI) program through payroll deductions. When employees become unable to work due to disability, they can collect weekly benefits from the program until they are either ready to go back to work or the benefits expire. We can do the same in Oregon! Why? I was demoted during my pregnancy after my employer removed their short term disability option. Then, they went after my unemployment. No pregnant woman should have to go through that again. You can help make sure of it! Only 9% of Plastic in the United States is recycled. 8 Million metric tons of plastic end up in the oceans every year, poisoning marine life and humans who eat seafood. It is time the government steps up and bans the production of single-use plastic (including bags, take-out cups, plastic straws, etc)! These single-use products are extremely durable and contain innumerable toxic chemicals which leach into the ocean. The racist, xenophobic, sexist, homophobic, anti-Semitic invasion of Charlottesville demands a greater response than our tears.

There is no place for terrorism in this world whether international or domestic. It is time to stand up and condemn the hatred, bigotry, and violence that these groups have been displaying for decades. This homegrown terrorism must be stopped in the United States of America.

President Trump's words were too little, too late. He vowed to unite the country but continues to employ divisive people to advise him and speak for him. This action will put meaning behind his words denouncing hate and will go a long way in making amends to the majority of Americans while making alt-right, neo-Nazis and white supremacists realize their views are not welcome in our America.

The recent actions and statements by President Trump are having a dangerous effect on this country as it pertains to foreign affairs, national defense and on the overall activities of the Government of the United States. He has put this country's safety and general well-being in serious jeopardy. His seemingly irrational behavior show every indication that this man is simply not emotionally stable and Congress needs to act to protect this country and the world from any actions that may provoke others to take actions that threaten our nation and may ultimately cause a Nuclear disaster. For this reason and others it is of the utmost importance that any necessary actions to cause his removal should begin immediately as it pertains to our Constitution under the 25th Amendment , Section 4.

The past and continued words and actions of Steve Bannon, Sebastian Gorka, and Stephen Miller are a stark violation of the values stated in our founding documents and all to which we must aspire as a nation. Their very presence in the White House is an affront to all Americans. The surge in hateful violence by white supremacist terrorists is fueled by the presence of these men in the halls of power. Members of Congress must call for their immediate removal.

After the heinous acts of hatred we have seen this past weekend, the White House can no longer passively condone white supremacists by harboring Steve Bannon, a hatemonger, in its ranks.

As the granddaughter of Jewish immigrants I am appalled and scared at the failure of elected officials to condemn hate groups unequivocally. Our president uses his power to support and embolden white supremacists -- he speaks on their behalf; he hires them as his closest advisors. Lee Zeldin, while claiming to be a "proud Jew" and sitting on the US Holocaust Memorial Council, takes his every cue from the president. In the wake of Charlottesville, Zeldin delayed in calling white supremacist groups by name and still refuses to identify them as the cause of the violence, continuing to claim that both "sides" are to blame, even when one of those sides is Nazis! The Republican Jewish Coalition and the Rabbinical Council of America have rightly condemned the president for his lack of moral leadership. But not Zeldin. He stands by every one of our president's misguided twists and turns. In doing so, Zeldin is making America less safe for Jews, other marginalized groups, and those who are fighting to protect our Democracy and democratic values. We need the USHMC to stand up for what is right and fulfill its purpose to help ensure that "never again" is not just a slogan.

Twenty-five million gallons of highly explosive butane gas (three-mile blast radius) is being stored by Plains All American Pipeline /Rancho LPG LLC on the back doorsteps of neighborhoods, schools, and shopping centers, in the LA Harbor Area. The tanks were built in 1973 "without permitting" and sit within mere feet of the Palos Verdes Fault (potential earthquake magnitude 7.3). They would not be sited there today with the knowledge we have gained since 1973. PLEASE TELL THE STATE LANDS COMMISSION: to complete a "Comprehensive Risk Analysis" to determine that the operation is "safe" for its location. Also, for the State Lands Commission to establish that any disastrous event stemming from this site is insured commensurate with the potential resulting damages. Thank you for signing this petition!
