Freedom to Fly the American FlagMy name is Sarah Harvey and I live in the Wyatt at Presidio Junction. Three weeks ago I decided to display the American flag on behalf of my country and my husband who serves in the United States Marine Corps. After serving 3 tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and 13 years years and counting it is the least I can do to show my love and support for all our brave soldiers. On October 28, 2013 I received a notice not only demanding the flag be taken down, but also fining me for having it up. I went to management and argued my case to no avail. I received the owner's email and have since emailed them with no response yet. So I am coming to you all for help. I followed the lease provisions involving not damaging the building or any structure on the property by zip tying the flag onto my railing. There is a clause regarding what should and shouldn't be on our patios. As it states on the lease clause only outdoor furniture is allowed. My stance is the American flag is an outdoor product and if, as management has stated to me, things like; plants, BBQ pits, bikes, and other typical outdoor products are allowed on the patio even though they are not considered outdoor furniture than the American flag should be allowed as well. The management team explained the reasons behind the denial of my American flag in terms that it could end up leading to someone claiming discrimination if someone else tried to fly another flag and they also tried to reference the "only patio furniture" statement but then agreed that they verbally agree to other items. I am coming to you, fellow residents, to get you all's approval and support so I can continue to fly my American flag in support and honor of our country and our soldiers. Please help me fight this injustice. I am asking nothing more than a signature to show management and the owners that no one is offended or against my family flying the American Flag. I also would like to point out that we all have a federal legal right, regardless what the company considers outdoor furniture. As per the Freedom to Fly the American Act of 2005 which was officially put into law July 24, 2006 section 3: SEC. 3. RIGHT TO DISPLAY THE FLAG OF THE UNITED STATES. A condominium association, cooperative association, or residential real estate management association may not adopt or enforce any policy, or enter into any agreement, that would restrict or prevent a member of the association from displaying the flag of the United States on residential property within the association with respect to which such member has a separate ownership interest or a right to exclusive possession or use. So I feel I am justified and supported in my right to fly the American flag, however I think everyone should have a right within our complex to fly the American flag without being hassled by the management team. I am not trying to cause any undue stress to anyone. So please help me keep my American flag up and allow others to have to ability to fly their American flags as well. Thanks for your support and have a wonderful day. Sarah Harvey162 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Sarah Harvey

Regulate the treatment of transgender prisonersIt is hard to know how many transgender inmates are in U.S. prisons, but difficulties and hardships of them is common and needed to be paid attention. The Eighth Amendment proscribes the infliction of cruel or unusual punishment, being limited to take hormones therapy is one of the cruelest punishment for transgender prisoners, who have right to live healthy.118 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Siyu Zhang

Wait, The NSA Thinks Its Rights Have Been Violated? If you’re going to secretly spy on millions of American citizens, you should probably learn to live with some criticism once your operation is exposed. But the National Security Agency — despite conducting a massive, unprecedented, and possibly unconstitutional domestic espionage operation where it monitors the phone calls and emails of most of the American people — is bent out of shape over a T-shirt. You read that right. The NSA has forced an entrepreneur in Minnesota to stop selling T-shirts, mugs, bumper stickers and other products featuring a design that adds the parody slogan “Spying On You Since 1952” to the agency’s official seal. Apparently, the NSA — which may well be snooping on you right now — thinks a parody T-shirt will be the thing that damages its reputation. The First Amendment clearly allows for this kind of “fair use” of logos associated with federal government agencies. It is the NSA, and its extensive spying on the American people, that may be in violation of the Bill of Rights. Sign the petition to tell the NSA to stop harassing Americans who are exercising their constitutional rights.71 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Glenn

The Anthony Bill for firefightersAnthony is a 20 year old male, who works, drives, and attends college. He has passed the fire academy and EMT physical and cognitive tests. He was born with a birth defect that affects his right eye and it cannot be treated. His doctor has signed off that he is 100% capable of doing his job as a fireman/emt since his left eye from birth has learned to work for both eyes. If you met him you cannot tell anything is different and he is fully capable of doing anthing. Anthony was recently hired as a firemen and then fired a day later because of the NFPA regulations to have 20/20-20/40 vision. This regulation needs to be changed to help people with birth defects that CANNOT be corrected. Please sign if you agree that the regulations should be changed and help us help people like Anthony.66 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Jenny

Support the Pocatello Nondiscrimination OrdinanceAfter an ordinance was past in June of this year, Pocatello will now hold elections again in May of 2014 to repeal this ordinance. This is more than an outrage for people to try and take back the right for people to work and live without fear of losing the jobs or buying a house because of their sexual orientation. Go here for more information about the vote in May. Please show support for everyone in the LGBTQ community and stop this bigotry. further. http://www.idahostatejournal.com/members/lgbt-ordinance-on-ballot-pocatello-voters-to-decide-on-nondiscrimination/article_8c279f52-3b71-11e3-8f52-001a4bcf887a.html162 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Matthew Powell

Senate Progressives: Stand Up For LGBTQ Americans!LGBTQ workers desperately need federal legislation that would end discrimination in the workplace -- but the version of ENDA that is currently pending in the House and Senate stops short of ending workplace discrimination once and for all. We deserve more than "asterisk equality." We're asking progressive champions in the Senate -- Senators Elizabeth Warren, Al Franken, Kirsten Gillibrand, and Sherrod Brown -- to stand with us in opposing the broad religious exemptions that actually write discrimination into a non-discrimination bill!46 of 100 SignaturesCreated by GetEQUAL

Walmart and gross corporate corruption.I worked at Walmart for nearly 10-years before being severely persecuted and fired in direct retaliation for reporting the manager's abusive bullying of a handicapped female colleague. Many other employees saw and heard the abuse and hysterical crying, but due to the catstrophic and devastating effects of massive gross systematic corporate corruption on our American culture, society, and worklace today, they were all afraid to report it, and despite my grueling 2-year legal battle in which I provided absolute proof of flagrant violations of civil and labor laws, and even a police statement proving Walmart's lying to federal investigators with intent to defame me and obstruct justice, nothing was done. End the massive gross systematic corporate corruption that strips our great American citizen/ Walmart workers of their civil and human rights, right to justice under the law, and their very honor and dignity. Stop NSA analysts from wiretapping people without due processWe now know the NSA has secretly decided they can wiretap anybody without the oversight of a court. This means that any NSA analyst can read your email, listen to your phone or Skype conversations, and watch what web searches you make. I myself work in the data analysis industry and am appalled that the kinds of tools I am building are being abused by the government to spy on ordinary citizens without public oversight. This overreaching behavior by the NSA is part of a larger trend where the call for strengthening national security since 9/11 has been eroding the rights of ordinary citizens. Although there will always be a balance between national security and people's rights, right now that balance is out of alignment. It seems that every month we learn about more things the NSA is doing to vaccuum up more communication. Most recently the NSA was exposed as trying to insert backdoors into new encryption systems used to protect sensitive information on the internet, including online banking. What will they be doing next? Now is the time to let Congress know that we don't approve of this. Sign this petition to prevent NSA analysts from abusing their power and make your voice heard. An email will automatically be delivered to your Representative and Senator in Congress. --- More information about the NSA's capabilities can be found on my blog here: http://bit.ly/nsainfo180 of 200 SignaturesCreated by David Foster

Protect LGBT workers! Pass the Employment Non-Discrimination Act Today! My name is Brad and I live in Seattle, Washington. Here in Washington State we have laws that protect Lesbian, Gay, Bi, and Transgender people from workplace discrimination. However, In 29 other states, including my home state of Tennessee, people are fired everyday simply because of how they identify or who they love. In Congress the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) has been proposed every year since 2007, but for nearly 7 years now Congress has failed to act. It’s time to put an end to workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. Currently, there is a bill in both houses of Congress, and it's already out of committee and ready for a vote in the Senate. That's where you come in! Not every bill actually makes it to the Senate floor for a vote, but with your help, we can demand that this bill gets a vote. Please stand with me and millions of LGBT Americans in asking Congress to pass the Senate Bill S. 815, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act today. Great News! The Senate Listened, and passed the Employment Nondiscrimination Act on November 7th, 2013. Here's a link to my new petition asking John Boehner to let the House vote for ENDA: http://petitions.moveon.org/sign/speaker-boehner-protect21,131 of 25,000 SignaturesCreated by Bradley Delaney

Federal Recognition for Marriage EqualityI'm starting this petition because the evidence is there that provides justification and clarity that this is simply not a state's issue. In time, all states will have marriage equality for all loving couples. The federal government is already recognizing same-sex couples by way of the benefits it has already authorized. States or people living in those states are being given the power to choose for others for what is already a constitutional right. It is appalling to me that unreasonable people are being given this power. It's time to recognize that a constitutional right should not be in the hands of unreasonable public officials or unreasonable citizens who don't agree with someone else's definition of love and marriage. Thank you, Jimmy - National Coalition for Marriage Equality.138 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Jimmy Gonzalez
