Women and African Americans have never been declared legally "equal to white men". The Declaration of Independence (1776) does not even mention them. In the Pledge of Allegiance (1892), liberty and justice do not mean equality. We still had to fight for the right to vote (1920), sit on juries, and we still don't get equal pay. It won't take away the harms done, but it is a step in the right direction. School children will learn that we are all equal and should be treated accordingly.

Vermont Tech has a large tobacco-using population, whether that be smoking, chewing/dipping, or other means. This proposal restricts our personal freedoms and cultural values, as well as those of our peers. We are also concerned that if this proposal were passed, future enrollment at Vermont Tech would decline.

I miss my parents & can't visit my homestate of Iowa because I chose years ago to become the change I wished to see int he world & SPEAK UP FOR ANIMAL FREEDOM & I don't want to come to Iowa & have be in fear of being called a “terrorist” by some bullies who put a toxic law into place that victimizes whistleblowers & treats American citizens like they treat animals.

Once it became public that my son was gay; the manager made his life a living hell. Before that time, he was advanced to pricing lead for the store. After becoming public, he was belittled in front of co-workers and the public; and was coerced into signing early release papers after giving a 3 weeks notice of leaving. I respectively request other members to abstain from shopping at this establishment.

Too many people have been victimized by the court's, too many have been denied "Due Process" and the Pope's "Decree" has opened the door; thus, eliminating immunity and status of Limitations.. It is now time for the people to be restored, too many years have gone by; whereby, Human Rights Violations, were being bestowed upon the people..

After the shutdown, the U.S. Senate will take a vote on the LGBT Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) for the first time in 17 years, and this commonsense proposal already has 55 Senate supporters and counting. ENDA simply says a corporation can’t fire you just because of who you are or who you love. But Florida’s Senator Bill Nelson is still waffling. He’s 1 of only 3 hold-out Democrats who has not made up his mind. We think 100% of Democrats should support basic fairness for LGBT Americans. Floridians understand that Americans should be judged on the job based on their skills and hard work, rather than their sexual orientation or gender identity. In fact, a recent poll showed that 73 percent of Floridians support ENDA. Nationwide, so do more than 81 percent of Democratic voters, a majority of Republican voters, 61 percent of senior citizens, and 72 percent of Latinos. Sen. Nelson - You already support marriage equality, and the Democratic Party of Florida platform calls for all people to be treated equally regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity. There’s no reason to keep stalling on workplace equality. Now is time to announce your support and publicly pledge to vote Yes for the LGBT Employment Non-Discrimination Act.

Nebraska State Mandated Forced Birth is Torture and a Violation of an American citizen's birthright to basic human rights and dignity. According to Juan E. Mendez in his Special Report on Torture and other cruel, inhumane and degrading treatment or punishment to the United Nations dated February 1st 2013, "The denial of abortion is torture". At the time when this 16 year old young requested that her pregnancy be terminated she openly stated that she did not believe herself to be adequately prepared to care for a child at this time in her life ~ she was four weeks pregnant. The Court in it's ruling agreed with her that as a "child" and the ward of the State of Nebraska, she was too young to make her decision, yet the very same court forces her to BE a MOTHER to a child that will also become a WARD of the State of Nebraska. Today she is 4 months pregnant and basically being Tortured to become a mother. That is TORTURE. The principles of FREEDOM is BUILD on the four corners of this Nation's ethical belief, and founding principles that a basic human birthright is AUTONOMY and FREEDOM. We, as American citizens cannot allow this ruling to stand - for if we do- we become complicit in the erosions of our own basic rights to freedom and autonomy. I started this petition to speak up and stand against the STATE MANDATED erosion of every American's right to Freedom and Autonomy. This AMERICAN girl should have the RIGHT to DECIDE what SHE WANTS to DO with her BODY after she was "abused and neglected" by her parents and now being RE-VICTIMIZED and TORTURED by the STATE of NEBRASKA. After being pulled over for a flat tire, Jagjeet was harassed and called a “terrorist” by Mississippi Department of Transportation Officers and falsely arrested for refusing to remove an article of the Sikh faith. But that was just the beginning of the injury to Jagjeet’s faith and rights. As an observant Sikh, Jagjeet Singh wears a turban at all times as a reminder and public declaration of his connection to God. But Judge Aubrey Rimes decided that the American justice system didn’t need to respect Jagjeet or his religion when he ordered Jagjeet be removed from the courtroom and said he wouldn’t let Jagjeet return until he removed “that rag” from his head. The United Sikhs have filed a complaint on Jagjeet’s behalf about Judge Rimes with the Department of Justice. But we can’t let the Department of Transportation officers off the hook for their reprehensible actions. Let’s send a message to Commissioner King and Director McGrath of the Mississippi Department of Transportation that the America we live in respects all persons and religions. Demand that the Mississippi Department of Transportation investigate and discipline the officers for their blatant and unacceptable religious discrimination.

I used to work at Carnegie Linen Services, a New York based industrial laundry. When we tried to organize with Workers United, we faced horrible attacks from our employer. The federal government found that Gary Perlson, owner of New York based laundry, Carnegie Linen Services, whose related companies contract for the Waldorf Astoria hotel, verbally abused my former co-worker Jose Luis Diaz after he refused a bribe of thousands of dollars to stop organizing with Workers United/SEIU. Perlson then threw hot coffee in Diaz’s face and terminated him. Carnegie Linen Services & Carnegie Valet Cleaning are Bronx-based industrial laundries with contracts for many New York hotels, including Carnegie Valet’s contract with the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. After a trial, the National Labor Relations board found Carnegie Linen Services guilty of violating federal labor law by “offering Jose Luis Diaz money to cease his union activity” “inflicting bodily injury on [him] in response to his union activities” and “discharging [him] because he assisted and joined Workers United and engaged in concerted activities” on November 7th 2009. Workers at Carnegie Linen Services make poverty wages and few benefits. Laundry work is difficult and dangerous work. *All information taken from 357 NLRB No. 188, Cases 2-CA-39560 and 2-RC-23436.
