• Broadcast Freedom of Speech Bill
I was head of a large media company starting in 1955 and am shocked at the disregard of the original intent of the Federal Communications laws. Big money now controls the basic platform of free speech in America.

  • Stop the FCC from Approving Further Media Consolidation in America
In 1983, 50 corporations controlled a majority of American media. Now that number is six. And Big Media may get even bigger, thanks to the FCC’s consideration of ending a rule preventing companies from owning a newspaper and radio and TV stations in the same big city. Such a move, which they’ve tried in 2003 and 2007 as well, would give these massive media companies free rein to devour more of the competition, control the public message, and also limit diversity across the media landscape.

  • $30 Mobile phone upgrade fee charged by Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and others
Mobile phone companies charge their customers a separate $30 fee for making sure the new phone they sell you actually works! If a store charged you $30 to leave the store only after you buy something, you would not buy anything at that store. It's wrong for mobile phone companies to do this, they should not do it, and we should not have to pay it!

  • Verizon: Hold Third Party Sales Reps Accountable
Verizon hires companies to come door to door and sell their packages. Our family was told that we could get a free 30-day-trial of Verizon Fios TV and internet service. We signed up for it, tried it out, and then canceled and returned our equipment in less than thirty days. Turns out we were deceived by the representative. No such deal exists and we were charged $137.29 for a service that we never would have signed up for if we weren't assured it would be free if we canceled within 30 days. I want Verizon to hold its third party sales representatives accountable so that they cannot use deceptive practices to swindle customers.

  • End Corporate Welfare
American subsidize corporations to the tune of $80billion annually. This would pay for 2 million new teachers. Walmart receives billions and doesn't pay their employees enough to live on. Just last week Walmart stopped offering insurance to new workers, blaming Obamacare. Their CEO earns more than 8k and hour, while Walmart workers don't make that much in one year.

  • First Data Global Leasing Stop Hurting Small Business
First Data Global Leasing corporation was introduced to me by my bank and has been nothing but a sickening headache since. They represented themselves as one company then when problems arose as a result of their actions, they are suddenly two separate entities that don't relate to one another. My contracts and financial information was sold to another company without my consent and I'm being harassed for payment on equipment I no longer have or was able to use by the company they sold my contract to! They are threatening to ruin my and my mother's credit. They have an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau although they had 295 complaints this year alone--699 in total! Many are considered resolved based on the word of First Data regardless of the satisfaction of the customer. Hundreds of thousands of small business owners are suffering as a result of their shady business practices. The customer service is so rude and robotic. Their only goal appears to be amassing wealth by bullying small businesses worldwide into paying thousands of dollars for a machine worth a couple of hundred. So who's really hurting the economy? Search them up for yourselves and you will find a trail of tears!

  • Limit renters move-out notice to 30 days.
A few legislative sessions ago the traditional 30 day notice for moving out of a rental was doubled to 60 days. Most renters, even a political savvy renter as myself, did not become aware of this change in the law until the lease was up. It was not until then that the landlord bothered to inform the tenant that they still had the traditional 30 days to renew their lease, but were now required to give a 60 day move out notice instead of the traditional 30 day move out notice. This puts too much of a financial burden on the tenant/renter.
