Covid 19 is affecting the economy in major ways forcing people to make tough decisions for their families based upon recent events such as deferring loan payments, mortgages, and basic utilities. To ease the economic struggle on these families, it is in our best discretion to open back up with these limited restrictions. The quarantine was implemented to flatten the curve of covid 19 to ensure that hospitals were not overwhelmed and to help prevent such rapid spread. The number of people infected is significantly lower than previously projected. Additionally independent contractors such as Beauticians, Barbers, and Artists cannot rely on programs such as unemployment as we do not qualify, in most cases, for such benefits. Small businesses are what keep communities in West Virginia running. Please do not turn your back on these families who are the backbone of our state.

Gov. Jared Polis and health officials across the state of Colorado have done a great job keeping the public informed about the response to the COVID-19 pandemic. But the far-right Republican Minority Leader in the Colorado House, Rep. Patrick Neville, has refused to apologize for comparing the state’s first Jewish governor to the Gestapo and encouraging his political followers to disobey stay-at-home orders. Reached by the Denver Post after Gov. Polis condemned the comparison of stay-at-home orders to Nazism, Minority Leader Neville “declined to apologize.” And even now as the evidence grows that everything we’ve done to fight this pandemic is working and has saved untold numbers of Coloradans, Neville and his small but noisy fringe of far-right activists who wield disproportionate influence in the Colorado Republican Party are giving their supporters advice that could cost lives.

Because we are on week 4 of no pay. We are more sanitary than grocery stores, wal-mart, liquor stores etc. We can take all necessary precautions in order to provide the safety of not only our clients but ourselves. If our governor and his sidekick can have a double standard we can reopen for business with the safety of our community in mind. The reality of it is people are giving house calls to survive. 5.2 million people have filed for unemployment. Crashing the economy is not the answer.

To relieve the financial burden this has created on small business such as ourselves. We need to be looked at as essential not just for us but our clients well being and mental health we provide.

We are going through financial hardship. we were promised bail outs through small business loans or grants. Yet the government has made the stipulations on these grants nearly impossible for our type of business to qualify for the loan to become a grant. Most tattoo shops if not all tattoo shops have been/ will be denied . We have no help when we have been promised help. We tattoo artists are trained and certified in blood-borne pathogen‘s and cross-contamination as well as many other medical safety and sterility procedures we are just as safe if not safer than most hospitals. tattoo shops are very clean we take this serious this is our livelihood if we do not return back to work by May 1st many small businesses will be lost . We will not be able to pay our bills, rents/mortgages, Insurances, we have the very potentially of losing everything. We still have to pay our mortgages/ rents and phone bills and gas and electric none of this has stopped for us . Yes, we can postpone them, but they’re not going away! Some of us can still sustain for a while, but that doesn’t mean that we are doing OK this is how we pay our bills this is how we feed our families and we are not getting any help from anyone, nor are we asking for it. We just want to be allowed to return to work in a safe manor

Most of this industry is self-employed, in order to feed our families, pay our bills, and generally survive we need to work. We are not given Paid Time Off or Insurance Benefits.

For most of us, as bar and restaurant owners, our entire life's work is on the line. It's time to flatten the economic curve and get Iowans back to work and get our kids back to school. It's time to end the fear and end the hysteria. We are supposed to be a free state, a free nation. We want to put common sense back in place. Focus our time and money on protecting the vulnerable residents of our State and let the rest of us go back to work. WE ARE ESSENTIAL!
