  • Return Local Power to Schools
The biggest problems facing public school students are the underfunded mandates of government agencies, big business profiteering, ill-guided commissions, and politicians all looking to line their pockets and build their resume's. Parents, school children, educators and local school boards know better how to prepare and support their local kids, and it's not with endless testing and cheap, disrespected teachers. Return their power of self governance and funding. Stop selling their futures to publishing giants, data-miners and "charter schools".

  • No Funding Left Behind
The wave of charter, online, and private schools formed in the past several years have created a common scenario where these schools are allowed to take tax dollars from the public schools. While these schools have the lawful right to exist, they also have the luxury of taking only the students that do not create a behavioral or educational problem for the staff or other students. When a student is forced to leave these schools, the money should not be allowed to stay, but should then follow the student due to the fact that the (Charter/Online/Private) school usually keeps these children on their rolls until after the count time.

  • Save Full-Day Kindergarten
We, the residents of the Three Village Central School District, are asking the Three Village Board of Education to stop the proposed cuts to our full-day kindergarten program and keep the current program intact for the 2012-2013 school year. We would like to voice our support of the Three Village full-day Kindergarten Program, and ask that you do not cut or reduce this valuable program in the revised 2.99% budget. There has never been a greater urgency in America to have all students academically succeed in our K-12 schools, along with in our universities and colleges. Competition from around the world has put our nation’s standing in the economic world at risk. There is a plethora of research which demonstrates that children who attend full-day kindergarten show greater reading and mathematics achievement gains than those who attend half-day or no kindergarten at all (NEA, 2008 pg. 1). Longitudinal data has also demonstrated that full-time kindergarten also has demonstrated long-term educational gains for students in all demographic groups, including low-income and minority students (NEA, 2008 pg.1). This is a program that benefits all incoming and future incoming kindergarten students; the elimination or reduction of this vital program will have an adverse effect on a large number of Three Village families and students, as well as the future home values of all Three Village residents.
