• Stop the proposed 20 Ton bridge over Keahua stream
We need this area to be preserved for our future generations. Current proposal is for a 20 ton bridge to be built. That type of weight capacity seems over the top for that area. We have very little information for future intentions with a bridge of that capacity. We must protect that area from development and overuse. At the meeting they said the bridge is 99% a done deal. That means WE have 1% to stop it! It can be done!

  • Gov. Wolf: Don't take renewable energy funds to build more pipelines!
Governor Wolf has just announced a new program to finance even more fracked gas pipelines in Pennsylvania. Worse yet, he wants to fund the program by taking money from a fund dedicated to renewable energy projects. Fracked gas pipelines are already causing serious harm in our state. Earlier this year, a pipeline exploded in in Westmoreland County, causing severe injury and property damage. A gasoline pipeline operated by Sunoco Logistics ruptured in Lycoming County, bringing tens of thousands of gallons of oil into the Susquehanna River. This program would set back Pennsylvania and lock us further in to a dirty fossil fuel future. The only way to make our state's future brighter is to build our investment in renewable energy Sign the petition to Governor Wolf to urge him to stop this terrible pipeline program before it gets started.

  • Tell President Obama to expand his conservation legacy
President Obama has established more new national monuments than any president in history, but there is still work left to be done. Congress keeps trying to undermine laws that protect our lands and polluters like the Koch brothers are gunning to open new areas to destructive mining. The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) is joining environmental advocates around the country to urge President Obama to keep protecting our lands and establish Utah’s Bears Ears region, El Paso’s Castner Range, the Gold Butte region in Nevada, and the area surrounding the Grand Canyon as national monuments. We have already seen President Obama is willing to act, but only if we raise our voices loud enough.

  • Fight back against any and all anti-environmental attacks by the Trump administration and polluti...
The election might be over, but the fight for the environment and the future of our planet is gearing up to be one of the most grueling, intense battles yet. People who care about the environment, who are worried about the dangers of climate change, and who want to save our only planet before it’s too late must rally together and fight back harder than ever. Take the pledge to stand with LCV and do everything in your power to make sure we not only defend the last eight years of progress, but find a way to move forward!

  • Take Arctic and Atlantic drilling off the table for good
The Obama Administration just finalized its offshore drilling plan for 2017-22, taking Atlantic AND Arctic drilling off the table. This is a huge victory for our oceans! But Big Oil remains determined to drill in the Atlantic and Arctic Oceans and President-elect Trump has vowed to inflict Big Oil on our public lands and waters. We need more durable protections to help withstand the coming fossil fuel onslaught. President Obama has the authority to permanently protect the Arctic and Atlantic Oceans from offshore drilling — but he must take action before Trump takes over.

  • Demand President-Elect Trump Include Climate Action in His Presidency
With a climate change denier headed to the White House, we must speak out louder than ever have before to force Donald Trump to recognize the imminent danger of climate change. If we stay silent, we could easily see the last eight years of progress wiped out and the climate crisis becoming much, much worse. Trump listens to TV and Twitter; we know because we have seen him talk about it for the last year. If we stand strong together and draw attention to this global crisis, we can force him to take actions his advisors would never dream of.

  • Tell Donald Trump Myron Ebell is Unacceptable for the EPA
Most Americans support climate action and a transition to clean, renewable energy, regardless of party affiliation. We know that climate change poses an urgent threat to our national security, public health, economy, and many other facets of American life. That’s why putting climate denier Myron Ebell in charge of the EPA transition is unacceptable and nominating him to run the EPA would be even worse. Ebell cannot adequately protect Americans if he doesn’t believe the threat is real. Urge President-elect Trump to listen to the majority of Americans who support climate action. We need to protect the unprecedented progress we’ve made in addressing climate change and make sure Myron Ebell stays far away from the EPA.

  • Senator Bill Nelson: Stop the Sabal Trail Pipeline
There is currently a pending lawsuit related to Sabal Trail that was filed against FERC by Sierra Club, Flint Riverkeeper and Chattahoochee Riverkeeper in the U.S. District Court of Appeals in D.C. that challenges FERC’s approval of the Southeast Market Pipeline, saying FERC did not analyze the climate impacts of the project and did not research less environmentally destructive routes. Burning 1.1 billion cubic feet of natural gas each day is in violation of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Sabal Trail Pipeline, a 515-mile project is slated to gouge its way through the Floridan Aquifer, through our sensitive karst geology, wetlands and under numerous rivers, including the Withlacoochee, Suwannee, and Flint Rivers, endangering the source of drinking water for up to 90% of north and Central Florida’s residents. Construction and drilling releases hazardous materials, and can leak and explode into waterways. Sabal Trail is cutting through the center of Florida’s world-famous springs, and would endanger our most valuable asset. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, is funded through fees from the industry itself, a severe form of crony capitalism, and is a rubber-stamp operation for the oil and gas industry. In the case of Sabal Trail Pipeline, there have been many discrepancies between what Sabal Trail Transmission, LLC reported to FERC and realities on the ground like sinkholes and cave systems within close proximity of the proposed pipeline. Land has been taken through eminent domain when much of the gas will be exported. The permitting process is faulty. There must be environmental justice for Floridians. Floridians rely on our precious water resources and tourist industry. We need a legislature concerned with sea-level rise, and interested in balancing sustainable development with responsible business practices. Please stop Sabal Trail Pipeline

  • Stop Violations of the US Constitution at Standing Rock Camp
The Indigenous People of this land have been subjected to genocide and dehumanization for 500 years. That must stop. Please stop the violence. Protect the People, not those who have been, and still are, violating human and constitutional rights at Standing Rock, North Dakota.

  • Congress: We Demand an EPA that Protects Our Environment
Remember the environmental disasters caused by DDT, Exxon Valdez, and hexavalent chromium uncovered by Erin Brokovich? American businesses have shown us time and again the low priority they place on the environment and public health. We need regulations to protect us and the businesses from themselves, but Scott Pruitt, President-elect Trump's appointee to lead the EPA, and Myron Ebell, leader of the EPA transition team, are not the men for this job. They have made their careers denying the legitimacy of environmental concerns, fighting so that business tycoons can fatten their wallets while the public is left to breathe polluted air and drink contaminated water. Republican or Democrat, conservative or liberal, we must all stand together and refuse to watch silently as our health is jeopardized and our environment is destroyed.

  • No infrastructure without climate action
If President-elect Trump carries out his campaign promises, then one of the most crucial policies in the nation is also one of the most endangered: our climate change agenda. Much of President Obama's achievements on this front were achieved by executive orders, meaning President Trump will have the power to gut (or at least not fully enforce) many of these programs. We have one opportunity to exert leverage: the proposed infrastructure bill. Jonathan Chait brilliantly lays out that whiles this bill is mightily tempting Democratic leadership, it is not in their best interest. http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2016/11/schumer-and-pelosi-have-a-plan-to-make-trump-popular.html Given the deficit busting aspect of this plan, it will likely not pass without Democratic support. So, we are asking Democratic leaders to use this legislation to protect our progress on climate change - a battle that is crucial for preventing illness, protecting the environment, combatting income inequality and avoiding a humanitarian crisis. We are asking Senator Charles Schumer and other Democratic leaders to demand that a pre-requisite for any infrastructure bill is that it requires that any approved project to reduce that sector's carbon emissions to 2005 levels. So a highway expansion that will lead to increased car traffic must offset that traffic and reduce carbon to 2005 levels - possibly by including a mass transit or green energy component or some other off-set. Infrastructure is inextricably linked to climate change. According to the EPA, 26% of greenhouse gases come from transportation. So it would be irresponsible to address infrastructure while ignoring the long-term consequences.
