  • SUPPORT MY MISSION IN FEEDING THE CHILDREN Affordable Hydroponically locally grown 99% organic food.
My part in the mission is to design, fabricate mobile classrooms that will inform, involve the children of all ages so that they will 'social network' and encourage their schools and parents to set up 'green houses' on apartment and school rooftops, balconies and backyards. The monies saved on good food will support solar panels and wind turbines which will power both the greenhouses and residences. The second part of the mission is to demonstrate to the traditional farmers that hydroponics/Aquaponics is the no-brainers of no-brainers. Less water, no pesticides, at least 15 times more harvest then traditional farming, LESS LABOR, less risk of crop failure. I have 87 acres in the desert to start demonstrating these points. My design will start at 70 times/square unit of earth compared to traditional farming. We have to return to 'ma and pa farms' with hydroponics and Aquaponics which will be profitable despite the climate changes. Take the farmland out of foreign hands since hydroponics does not use the farm land. Seriously, let's try something different. http://aquaponicscal.info/

  • Ban Fracking In Florida: Support SB 166
Florida's delicate ecology and vast underground aquifer system are in danger from oil and gas fracking. We’re at an important moment in the debate over this critical issue: Sens. Darren Soto (D-Orlando) and Dwight Bullard (D-Miami) have introduced SB 166, a statewide ban on this dangerous threat to our water, our environment, and the health of our communities. Sign the petition urging Florida legislators to support SB 166 and finally remove the threat of fracking from endangering the Florida we love.

  • Tell the Obama Administration to Prosecute Endangered Species Killers
A little known and decades old Department of Justice policy is protecting the killers of endangered grizzly bears, whooping cranes, California condors and wolves. The so-called "McKittrick Policy" was enacted after a Montana man gunned down a wolf and later claimed he had thought he was firing on a dog. He was prosecuted, though the Department of Justice (DOJ) later decided to accept his self-exoneration by claimed ignorance and has clung to that policy of inaction for years. Endangered species need to be protected from hunters that can simply claim they did not know what they were shooting at. Tell President Obama and Attorney General Loretta Lynch to drop the McKittrick Policy and treat the killing of endangered species like the crime that it is.

  • Petition for Community Garden at Wooten Park of Raleigh, NC
This vacant park is one mile from where I live. I'm starting this petition because having a green space added to the park plan would be beneficial to the whole neighborhood. We have a wide variety of people and a large percentage of them are in townhomes or apartments. They don't have access to gardens like they should. This will also be great for the kids. Bringing the community together through sustainable means is always a win!

  • Tell the Bayfield County Board of Supervisors: Our Public Health is at Risk from the Reicks CAFO
Dale Reicks, a factory hog producer from Iowa, has applied for a preliminary application for a permit to operate a CAFO with 26,000 hogs in the Fish Creek Watershed, less than 8 miles upstream from Lake Superior. The Ashland Municipal Water Utility is 3 nautical miles from the junction of Fish Creek and Lake Superior. Given the soil type, quantity of manure the Reicks CAFO will produce and the self-regulatory nature of the CAFO industry, it's likely that Fish Creek and the Chequamegon Bay will see increased nutrients, pathogens and agricultural run-off in the water. The threats to public health and welfare that CAFOs pose to communities are numerous (antibiotic resistant bacteria, pathogens in the manure, and disease such as asthma, decreased lung function, and cardiovascular ailments) but the potential threat to city with 8,000 residents water supply requires caution. A 2 year moratorium will allow Bayfield County the time it needs to research and develop regulations that will protect and preserve our environment and communities.

  • Stop the Canadian Pipeline
This petition is the voice of the people, especially since the Congress and the Senate don't listen, respect or represent the "average" citizens. We need to protect our aquifer. This oil is dangerous. One spill CAN destroy our environment. We also need to protect the Native American land and their treaty rights. When they speak of this project, they say there will be jobs. A total of 35 long term jobs will be offered...that's if they hire U.S. citizens. Listen to our voice...we don't want that pipeline!

  • Senator Daines: Stop Denying Climate Change
Climate change is impacting Montana, threatening our environment, economy, and the health of our communities. From longer fire seasons, to forests killed by pine beetles, to trout streams suffering from reduced flow caused by melting snow packs, the effects of climate change are already being felt by thousands of Montanans. Yet some of our elected leaders refuse to even acknowledge there is a problem. U.S. Senator Steve Daines is the highest-profile climate change denier in Montana politics, and it’s due to politicians like him that we haven’t seen more progress in the fight against climate change. Scientists warn that at least 80% of existing fossil fuel reserves must stay in the ground if we are to avoid the worst consequences of a warming global climate. But Steve Daines is actively pushing to expand coal and oil extraction, and to build new pieces of fossil fuel infrastructure like coal export terminals and the Keystone XL tar sands oil pipeline. Steve Daines publicly denies that human-caused climate change exists, and has refused to engage in a dialogue with constituents about how to address the issue. It’s time to hold Steve Daines accountable for his backward position on the scientific reality of climate change. Fortunately, ordinary Montanans are coming together to support climate solutions such as increased generation of solar and wind energy. This March, grassroots organizations will hold a nonviolent demonstration at Daines’ office to call out his climate change denial. Sign this petition urging Daines to take the threat of climate change seriously, and your signature will be delivered with hundreds of others on the day of the action.

  • Save Curbside Recycling on Maui
This is an urgent moment for recycling on Maui. The pilot 3 Can Plan curbside recycling program is to be prematurely terminated on February 1st even though it was funded through June 30, 2015. If the plan is shut down, the opportunity for Maui to have island wide curbside recycling will vanish. We cannot let this happen. Curbside programs have been implemented and fully embraced by communities around the globe that have far fewer environmental concerns than we do on our island, and that have far fewer recycling commitments and obligations than we do. The goals of the pilot 3 Can Plan in Maui Meadows and parts of Kihei were to determine the program’s popularity, logistics, effectiveness and costs with the intention of expanding the program island wide. And by these criteria, the program appears to be a success. However, the success of Maui’s curbside recycling test program has been clouded by a lack of transparency in the Department of Environmental Management (DEM). Also, questionable conclusions, misleading statements and county politics have cast doubt on the accuracy of the DEM’s figures and heightened skepticism about department claims that curbside recycling is not viable for Maui. This is one of many reasons the County Council recently ordered a full performance audit of that department.

  • Approve the Kaʻūpūlehu community’s proposal for a 10-year rest period to return productive and su...
For generations, the fishing families of Kaʻūpūlehu lived in harmony with land and sea, sustainably growing and harvesting what was needed. As change came to their home, these families worked to protect the practices that sustained their ancestors by encouraging voluntary catch limits, participating in regional fishery initiatives, and sharing traditional fishing methods and educational materials; yet despite these efforts, marine life continued to decline. In 2009, following decades of loss, members of the KMLAC began developing a culturally-rooted, community-based plan to replenish the marine life that sustains the people within the ahupua‘a of Kaʻūpūlehu and beyond. A copy of the current rule proposal can be found at: http://dlnr.hawaii.gov/dar/files/2014/05/HAWAII.13-60.4dr.pdf

  • Tell Rep. McCollum to protect the Boundary Waters
The Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness is the most popular Wilderness area in America. At 1.1 million acres in size, it is the largest Wilderness area east of the Rockies and north of the Everglades. The Boundary Waters offers 1,200 miles of canoe and kayak routes, 237.5 miles of overnight hiking trails and 2,000 designated campsites, and is home to unique wildlife including lynx, wolves, moose and loons. For 50 years the Wilderness Act has protected this special place. But, it is now jeopardized by recent proposals to bring sulfide-ore copper mining – a risky type of mining that has never before been permitted in Minnesota – to places where pollution will drain into the Wilderness itself. Byproducts of sulfide-ore copper mining include hazardous pollutants such as sulfuric acid and heavy metals, which could permanently ruin the pristine water and unspoiled forests of this place. Pollution from these mines would flow right into the heart of the Boundary Waters as well as impact Voyageurs National Park. These beloved national treasures offer unparalleled outdoor experiences to millions of people, and help drive the economy of Northeastern Minnesota, where tourism supports 18,000 jobs and brings $850 million in sales annually to the region.
