Stop El Garden From Being Developed & Keep The Garden Growing! The EL Garden community is in support of affordable housing but not at the expense of open public space. Bushwick deserves BOTH affordable housing and open green space. Less than half of these new developments will be "affordable" units, severely limiting the potential of relieving NYC's housing crisis. Instead, we strongly urge the Mayor to actively protect Bushwick’s existing rent stabilized units in support of longtime residents impacted by Bushwick's wave of development while supporting our fledgling community gardens and our grassroots environmental programs. Building over a much loved and much needed public green space is a loss for all.425 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Abby Lee

NAVY JETS TARGET WORLD HERITAGE SITE: OLYMPIC NATIONAL FOREST & PARK, ENDANGERED SPECIES, RESIDEN...ENDANGERED SPECIES - No studies have been done on the effects of loud noise or chronic radiation on endangered species whose “critical habitat” is in the Olympic National Forest, including: the Marbled Murrelet, the Western Snowy Plover, and the Northern Spotted Owl. - Navy official Jerry Sodano admitted 15 minutes exposure causes “the liquid tissue” of the eye to be damaged by proximity to the activated 3 mobile radiation emitters. - No analysis has been done of the effects of electromagnetic radiation and loud sounds on the 1 billion birds flying in this area annually, migrating shorebirds, geese, ducks, and other non-listed birds.319 of 400 SignaturesCreated by DOCTORS W.A.R.N.

Sally Jewell: Let states and cities ban frackingIn a recent interview with KQED, Interior Secretary Sally Jewell said banning hydraulic fracturing is the "wrong way to go" for states and municipalities worried about its impacts. "There is a lot of misinformation about fracking," she went on to say. Sadly, the Secretary is the one who is misinformed. Water and air pollution: There are already more than 1,000 documented cases of water and air contamination from fracking operations — from toxic wastewater, well blowouts, chemical spills, and more. Cancer: Researchers at the University of Colorado School of Public Health concluded that people living within a half-mile of gas drilling operations have higher health risks, including cancer. Earthquakes: Many studies have shown that fracking can cause earthquakes by building up subterranean pressures that causes slippage in existing fault lines. Earthquakes in Ohio, Texas, and Oklahoma have been linked to fracking operations. After reviewing all this evidence and more, the states of New York and Vermont, and hundreds of cities across the nation have banned fracking. Sally Jewel, the Secretary of the Interior, should just let these state and cities follow the science and ban fracking.4,089 of 5,000 SignaturesCreated by Margie Alt

STOP KEYSTONE XL NOW!Tell your representative to stand with Americans across the country and vote NO on the Keystone XL pipeline bill. Recently, what will undoubtedly be one of the most environmentally hostile Congresses in history took office. Its first item of environmental business? Voting to mandate the approval of the Keystone XL pipeline, putting campaign contributors ahead of the American public and our environment. Don’t let them get away with this! We need everyone to raise their voices NOW to reject this destructive project. Tell your representatives that you stand with more than 1 million Americans who are against the pipeline. Big polluters spent more than $721 million to get their cronies elected to Congress, and now they expect payback. The only way we can stop this destructive project is if everyone—including you—takes a stand. The Keystone XL pipeline would be disastrous, hurting communities, polluting our water and environment, and undermining our ability to stabilize climate change. If constructed, the pipeline would transport highly polluting Canadian tar sands crude to U.S. refineries on the Gulf of Mexico, where it would be processed and shipped overseas. Conservation groups, Native American tribes, farmers, and ranchers have opposed the project because it poses a threat to groundwater and surrounding lands. Despite this, Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell has made approving the Keystone project one of his very first priorities in 2015. The President just threatened to veto this ill-founded legislation but it’s critical that enough representatives register their opposition to show his veto can be upheld. We are facing our toughest battle yet. Help stop this disaster once and for all. Tell your representatives to vote NO.51 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Martin Hayden

Go Solar, Raleigh!Last year, North Carolina ranked second only to California in terms of solar capacity added. Our recent report, Star Power, showed that we can reach 20% solar by 2030 at a fifth of our current growth. Our challenge now is to keep the surge in solar power growing strong! We know that the cities with the most solar power aren’t just the ones with the most sunshine; they’re also the communities with smart pro-solar policies. That's why we're asking Raleigh to commit to a bold yet achievable goal of 15% solar by 2030!74 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Maya Gold

Save Wheaton ParkThrough recently passed zoning and the imminent construction of a 384 unit condo project, this neighborhood could add over 500 new residential units in the coming years. The City of Poughkeepsie should not alienate Wheaton Park to sell it to a private developer. Do we really need 40+ more condo units, including private parking for them near our riverfront instead of Wheaton Park? We have plenty of empty housing, why keep building more at the price of a outdoor recreation? Parks are more, not less, needed than ever before. Wheaton Park's scenic vistas and premier gateway location next to the train station are a major community asset that should not be "for sale."393 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Save Wheaton Park

Ban the Pesticide BifenthrinThere is a pervasive lack of understanding of the toxicity and prevalence of bifenthrin and most states are not looking for bifenthrin in urban streams. This is a silent killer that no one is looking for. We could have healthy urban streams full of fish and strong local economies if we properly manage our urban environments. Banning bifenthrin would be a large step in that direction.17 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Erick McWayne

Pesticides Exposed! 50% of all children will be Autistic in 10 years!50% of all children will be Autistic in 10 years! Please help in signing this Petition to Expose the pesticide effect on our society and our children. Tell your politicians we need reform and immediate action! I have a 9 month old baby girl and fear having another child due to the rising incidence of autism. My nephew is autistic. The numbers have dramatically increased and can no longer be ignored. The government is not spending the money for research needed. More and more private research points to the governmental agencies avoiding proper testing due to costs involved in fixing the issues. Today's support structure relies on charitable donations and begging for help.55 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Linda Barratt Cervantes

Oppose Verizon Wireless's plan to build a cell tower at Hubrich FarmsWe currently live in a quiet residential neighborhood. Our children play here and attend school just down the street. A cell tower so close to our homes will drastically reduce the liveability of our neighborhood. This proposed tower should be stopped.162 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Wendy Dougan

Stop The Algonquin Pipeline Expansion Project in ConnecticutWe urge all to sign this petition because time is of the essence. The Algonquin Pipeline Expansion Project will impact citizens of New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. There are only a few weeks left before the CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection makes a final decision regarding its certification of water quality for the Incremental market (AIM) pipeline expansion project. Spectra Energy could start construction of the AIM project as early March 2015. After that Spectra Energy will be on track to push for similar pipeline expansion projects, including the Atlantic Bridge and Access Northeast. The health and safety of our citizens as well as the protection of our environment should be our top priority.
