Mitch: Let the EPA do its job!I live in Louisville, Kentucky, home of the soon-to-be Majority Leader of the Senate. I am disappointed that he's taken an anti-EPA stance, despite the Kentuckians and other Americans who are helped by strong regulations.57 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Bill Bowman

Emergency: Protect Wisconsin's Wolves under the Endangered Species ActWolves in Wisconsin may be perilously close to collapse due to aggressive hunting and trapping seasons, poaching, and the unregulated year-round use of dogs to pursue wolves. Worse, the state is likely not accurately counting the number of wolves in its borders. The state of Wisconsin interpreted its wolf census data in secret last winter — for the first time in 25 years. A group of scientists recently outlined multiple flaws in the state's methods of reporting wolf mortality and reporting the wolf population status. The scientists urged the USFWS to start independent scientific review and emergency relisting. The scientists reported that among radio-collared wolves in 2012, for every 4 wolves legally hunted, another 7 were illegally killed, 8 were killed by the government or vehicles, and 2 died of natural causes. Following that, the state declared another wolf-hunting season and legally hunted another 257 wolves in October 2013 and 150 wolves in October 2014. The wolf population can not handle more of the same. Please ask USFWS Director Dan Ashe to listen to these scientists and immediately relist wolves in Wisconsin and to form an independent scientific review panel to monitor any future state recovery plans.569 of 600 SignaturesCreated by Endangered Species Coalition

Divest UH From Fossil FuelsTrevor Alexander is a University of Hawaii student in the part of the U.S. most vulnerable to climate change and most dependent on fossil fuel. He is concerned about where UH dollars are going: the UH Foundation has invested $261 million in funds including fossil fuels! This is dangerous and counterproductive--global warming threatens the livelihood of everyone in Hawaii [1]. In his words: "Current projections indicate global warming could change Hawaii forever as early as 2029 [2]. This isn't a problem for our children, it's our problem--we students will have to try to make a life in a world with more frequent, stronger hurricanes; severe damage to tourism; beach loss; increased disease; water shortages; dying coral reefs; and agricultural losses. It won't look like home anymore." Oppose Port Ambrose, a Dangerous Offshore Liquefied Natural Gas Facility!Liberty Natural Gas (Liberty LNG) is proposing to build ‘Port Ambrose,’ a deepwater port that would bring combustible liquefied natural gas tankers to the NY/NJ region. Under the Deepwater Port Act, this facility could be used for both the import and export of liquefied natural gas (LNG). This proposal is concerning for several reasons: 1. LNG tankers and facilities pose serious security risks, as they are vulnerable to terrorism and hijacking in the busiest port on the east coast and near JFK airport. 2. LNG is a disaster for our climate: methane has an effect on climate 85 times more potent than carbon dioxide over a twenty-year period. 3. Liberty Natural Gas is a secretive corporation of nameless backers based in the Cayman Islands that refuses to disclose who they are and their financial investors. 4. Port Ambrose will likely become an export facility. Once approved for import, it can be flipped to export without further public input, worsening the industrialization of the marine environment, affecting fishing, and intensifying climate change. 5. Port Ambrose will create only six (6) long-term jobs. A real green energy future, including energy conservation and renewables, will create thousands of high paying, permanent jobs.16,572 of 20,000 SignaturesCreated by Drew Hudson

Remove Dairy Creek West from the Urban Growth BoundaryDairy Creek West was pulled into the urban growth boundary by a back-room deal. A meeting with developers and elected officials occurred on February 23, 2014 in the City of Hillsboro that was not advertised to the public. The meeting had no minutes and no attendance sheets. None of the landowners of Dairy Creek West were invited to this meeting. House Bill 4078 violated Statewide Planning Goal #1 that encourages public involvement through the entire planning process. This bill was passed on February 28th, 2014 five days after this meeting giving no reasonable notification to landowners of what transpired at this meeting. House Bill 4078 violated the landowners of Dairy Creek West 5th Amendment right of due process on their land. It also went around the public process listed in Title 11 and 14 of Metro Code. This code requires notification of landowners when their land is being considered to be placed into the urban growth boundary because of the monetary and livelihood impacts to landowners. It evens offers the opportunity for the landowners to say whether they want their land to be included in the urban growth boundary and why. Since the passage of House Bill 4078, it has placed undue stress on the landowners of Dairy Creek West as they now must try to protect their rural lifestyle. Selden tree planting petitionOur neighborhood has been cleared of more than forty trees. Once a tree lined neighborhood where people enjoyed walking through, now it has been transformed. There is no shade and the sidewalks are patched with the repair work. I am petitioning the town to replace these trees. I have tried to talk directly with the town supervisor and highway superintendent and keep getting their staff telling me how there is nothing that can be done. We pay taxes to improve our neighborhood not destroy them. Please support this petition to show our resolve. There is strength in numbers75 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Robert bagliavio
