It's time to tell PBS: Stop putting climate denial financiers in positions of leadership.

San Onofre is not a safe place to store dangerous spent fuel as it is situated in a recognized tsunami, earthquake, and firestorm zone and is vulnerable to climate change and terrorist attack in a densely populated area. Laguna Beach is within the 20 mile “Dead Zone”. We may escape with our lives, but we will never be able to return to our property.

This petition is to request a reschedule of the Scoping meeting from Thursday, December 11, 2014 6-8pm to a later date, preferably after the holidays, when more members of the community can attend. We also request a change of venue that would accommodate a larger number of people from the community. This proposed 242 housing development will have a significant impact on our entire community and we need more time to inform our community of Sunland-Tujunga that did not receive a notice of this Scoping meeting.

An article by Dahr Jamail at http://www.truth-out.org/news/item/27339 states that 36 supersonic Growler jets will fly 8 to 16 hours/day, 260 days/year, conducting 11 “training events” every day on 3 mobile radiation emitters placed in 15 different locations—all ‘critical habitats’ for endangered species in the Olympic National Forest—and the airspace over the Olympic National Park, a UN World Heritage Site. The Navy is exempt from prohibitions of the Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary, and will conduct live firing of guns, missiles, torpedoes and chaff; it will avoid conducting bombing exercises in the Sanctuary, “to the maximum extent practicable.” Weapons include "lasers, high powered microwaves (HPMs), electromagnetic pulse (EMP), anti-radiation energy in concentrated beams designed to attack personnel, facilities or equipment with intent of degrading, neutralizing, or destroying enemy capabilities." Navy "friendly electronic attack (FEAs) could potentially deny essential services to a local population that, in turn, could result in loss of life, and/or potential ramifications. Not one single public notice about this training was published in any local newspapers serving affected communities on the Olympic Peninsula. The public’s comments on jet noise, EMR health dangers, and pollution have been ignored. A coalition of local Native Tribes, Idle No More, demonstrated against this plan as destructive for the land, water and traditional Native uses on October 29, 2014 and presented letters of objection to the Forest Headquarters in Olympia. Many such letters of protest are now found "missing." And the US Navy already has a functioning site to test their electromagnetic radiation weapons in Idaho.

We are for the responsible management of state wildlife so it can be enjoyed for generations to come. Continuing to have political protections for the Grey Wolf harms other predators and ungulate herds by not considering their needs on the landscape.

The Florida Panther is one of the most endangered species in the world. Development in and around the Florida everglades has damaged and restricted the Florida Panther's habitat to a single population of between 100 and 180 species. We need strong land-use policies to stop giant developers from wiping out the last Florida Panthers!

We need a solution to climate change ... here it is!

More renewable energy is available from rooftop solar in San Diego and Los Angeles Counties than will be derived from the siting of utility-scale generating facilities on 2 million acres of desert habitat called for in the Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan. The unintended consequences of utility-scale facilities in the desert are becoming known and are unacceptable--dust storms in Lancaster, midair incineration of birds at Ivanpah, depletion of scarce groundwater in Borrego Springs.

Clean energy inventions would be much cheaper, healthier and better for our environment than obsolete energy sources like solar, wind, uranium, and fossil fuels. For example the $2.2 billion Ivanpah solar thermal generator near Las Vegas is inefficient and kills 28,000 birds a year!

The Keystone XL Pipeline would accelerate climate change and put the environment at risk, but Republican Congressional leaders are pledging to send legislation approving the project to the President’s desk in the next Congress. We need to stand together and stop it before we’re too late. Climate change is already harming the farms, forests and other natural resources our economy depends on, and this project will only make climate change worse. The Keystone XL Pipeline will take the dirtiest fuel source in the world – tar sands oil from Canada – across America to the Gulf Coast. We need to be burning less carbon, and keeping the dirtiest forms of carbon in the ground but this project is wrong on both counts. Not only that, but it won’t do anything to reduce oil prices in America – the Keystone XL is about shipping oil from Canada to China, through a pipeline that puts our land and water at risk. That’s a tradeoff that isn’t good for anyone, and it’s why were calling on the President commit to veto any harmful legislation that would approve Keystone XL. We need your voice. Sign the petition!

Good news: President Obama has promised to veto legislation to approve the Keystone XL pipeline. With the President's vow to veto, he has shown that he's willing to take some heat for standing up to Big Oil. How he can make his mark on history by rejecting the pipeline once and for all. President Obama has the support he needs -- from science, and from the people -- to reject the pipeline. An 830,000 barrel per day pipeline of the world's dirtiest oil will obviously contribute to climate change, failing his climate test.
