Because Trailbreaker is an old pipeline and Tar Sands is far more corrosive than other oil, the chances of a spill are almost inevitable. Such a spill would be catastrophic to the watersheds of Maine. New England has the opportunity to take a stand against this and continued climate change.

Benjamin Franklin is attributed with saying: "If we can keep them asking the wrong questions, we'll never have to worry about the answers". Those who would argue against a carbon tax will tell you that it would kill jobs, crash the economy or ruin our trade opportunities. Only we can decide what we want the future to look like and what the inheritance we'll leave our children will be. Will we be remembered for our creativity or our destructiveness? Science has informed us that by the year 2047 we will have created an inhospitable climate, we can't wait to for business decisions to catch up with science. We must act now.

This is a catastrophe for the Japanese people and potentially for the rest of the world, certainly for those who border the Pacific Ocean. We must help the Japanese prevent a worse disaster.

Hydraulic fracking has terrible environmental consequences: depletion of fresh water, adverse effect on agriculture, inducing silicosis in workers involved in fracking process, releasing toxic substances into the air, admixture of radioactive cancer inducing radon with the extracted natural gas, and also inducing earthquakes. Even more seriously, fracking releases into the atmosphere green house gas methane (major component of natural gas) which is 100 times more potent than carbon dioxide over a 20 year period in destabilizing the climate resiliency. Ensure no public funds are used to finance any further fracking for natural gas on federal lands.

Minnesota is the leader protecting the Environment. We need to make everyone aware of their role in Climate Change. Warnings of "Stop Climate Change" on fuel nozzles and pumps will make people aware of their part in protecting the Planet.

I live in NYS and poisoning any place means poisoning every place! The NYS Dept of Health is about to issue a review of fracking and health, and this petition is intended to make the governor and the DOH include this unholy trinity (“Fracking, Radon and Lung Cancer”) in its review.

We feel everyone has a right to know what they're eating. Given that polls show as many as 95% of the public favor this labeling, we believe that a decision by HEB to take the historic step to join this movement will benefit consumers and HEB alike, making HEB the leader among major food stores in responding to the growing demand for truth in labeling. A definition of assemble includes "fit together the separate component parts of (a machine or other object)." This petition is a directive forged by We the People to peaceably assemble information. Pharmacognosy is defined as "the study of the physical, chemical, biochemical and biological properties of drugs, drug substances or potential drugs or drug substances of natural origin as well as the search for new drugs from natural sources." It is also defined as the study of crude drugs. A crude drug is any naturally occurring, unrefined substance derived from organic or inorganic sources such as plant, animal, bacteria, organs or whole organisms intended for use in the diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease in man or other animals. We would like to assemble the knowledge of chemicals alongside the biological organisms or inorganic matter those chemicals were derived from.

The North Carolina Wildlife Resorces Commission (NCWRC) has ignored petitions from non-hunters to protect black bears and the public from the unchecked pattern of terrorism and abuse by bear hunters. Inadequate public notice, failure to provide dedicated email addresses for public comments, and the refusal to grant disability access to meetings clearly show NCWRC bias towards bear hunters.

Friends of the Earth’s just-released 2013 Cruise Ship Report Card grades 16 cruise lines and 162 ships on their environmental practices, and once again Carnival Cruise Lines gets a failing grade for its treatment of the ocean. With 22 ships using 30-year-old sewage treatment technology, Carnival has the worst impact on our oceans of any other cruise line. The U.S. EPA has found that sewage treated with this old technology often contains significant amounts of fecal bacteria, heavy metals, and nutrients in excess of federal water quality standards. Carnival's problems don't end there. In June Carnival announced plans to leave the Port of Baltimore and move the Carnival Pride ship back to Florida. This is in response to new, life-saving air quality standards that would require it to use cleaner fuels. By sailing from Florida they can burn more cheap 'bunker fuel' that is 2,000 times dirtier than diesel fuel sold at gas stations. And if that weren't enough, according to a New York Times report by David Leonhardt: “Over the last five years, the company [Carnival Corp.] has paid total corporate taxes -- federal, state, local and foreign -- equal to only 1.1 percent of its cumulative $11.3 billion in profits.” Carnival has no excuses. It can afford to stop polluting our oceans. Tell Carnival Cruise Lines to clean up its sewage problem – install advanced sewage treatment systems on all of its ships!
