• Role back IL real estate taxes
We recently moved here from CA and were shocked by the real estate taxes. While Chicago is supposed to be “cheaper” than California, the property taxes are insane and driving people out of there homes, out of the state, and preventing businesses (I.e. Amazon) from relocating here. Our government needs to find new ways of raising funds without punishing the residents or find ways of refinancing the pension burden which is killing this city’s economic viability.

  • No nuclear war
Is Trump trying to bring on end times? Why is the CDC preparing us for nuclear war? Why is Putin preparing for WWIII? It’s time someone stepped in to stop this madness. We will not go quietly into “end times”. NO NUCLEAR WAR.

  • Drop Washington State from Offshore Drilling
The current program in place put 94 percent of the OCS (Outer Continental Shelf) off limits for drilling. That changed January 4, 2018. U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke decided to open up over 90 percent of the OCS acreage and over 98 percent of undiscovered oil and gas resources. Secretary Zinke is quoted as saying “Responsibly developing our energy resources on the Outer Continental Shelf in a safe and well-regulated way is important to our economy and energy security, and it provides billions of dollars to fund the conservation of our coastlines, public lands and parks”. Yet this statement denies the ugly truth of offshore drilling. And that truth is this: It causes pollution, more human health issues (particularly respiratory), oil spills (of which only 10 percent has been recovered) devastates ocean life (and thus us as well) and causes more extreme weather events according to the NRDC (National Resources Defense Council). The NRDC also states that offshore drilling contradicts climate science, threatens coastal communities and directly goes against the clean energy solutions the American public favors. Instead of being concerned that “the U.S. remains a global leader in offshore energy development” as Katharine MacGregor, Principle Deputy Assistant Secretary of Land and Minerals Management states there needs to be actual concern for the health of the American people and the earth we all share. We are sadly taking so many steps backward environmentally with the Trump administration this past year that it’s dizzying. How much more do you think our environment can take? Has the recent uptick in extreme weather taught the current administration nothing? How many more lives and homes need to be destroyed before they get the point that climate scientists might just be telling the truth? Don’t be fooled. There is no such thing as environmentally sound or safe offshore drilling. The Draft Proposed Program (DPP) includes 47 potential lease sales in 25 of the 26 planning areas-including 19 in Alaska, 12 in the Gulf of Mexico, 9 in the Atlantic Region and 7 in the Pacific Region including right here in the Washigton/Oregon Area. There have been no offshore sales in our region since 1984. Help me fight to keep it that way. Let’s work together to send a strong message to this administration that we will not tolerate making our already near dire situation worse. We are ready to make positive environmental changes in solidarity not just for ourselves but for our children and future generations. Let’s be the tide of change we wish to see in this nation.

  • Congress: Subpoena Donald Trump’s Financial Records
Fusion GPS founder Glenn Simpson testified for 10 hours in a closed-door hearing of the Senate Judiciary Committee in August 2017. Since then, the committee has refused to investigate any of the alleged financial conflicts of interest of the Trump family, but instead has been investigating the witness. We deserve to know, once and for all, if our President has financial entanglements that compromise his ability to act in the best interests of the American people.

  • Illegal Occupancy of the Hawaiian Island's and Holding the Queen at Gunpoint
Due to historical events and various manipulative maneuvers stimulating multiple levels of outlaw type campaigns influencing other members of the Executive Corporate Branch of the US Company carrying out premeditated acts against the islands of Hawaii and its Administrative Members of the Kingdom of Hawaii, namely Queen Liliuokalani and her governing body. All of which were held under gunpoint primarily within the Iolani Palace to Annexate its governing body who were residing and managing the Hawaiian Monarchy who once managed the Hawaiian People and their citizens of Hawaii. We demand justice to our Native Kanaka and their descendants of today. The U.S. Government needs to compensate the Native Kanaka. U.S. Government has been illegally occupying The Hawaiian Islands and have been bankrupt since 1933. Justice needs to be served.

  • Retract or Resign
On ABC's "This Week With George Stephanopolous" today, UN Ambassador Nikki Haley said the following: “We need to be realistic with the fact at (sic), every person—regardless of race, religion, or party—who loves this country should support this president. It’s that important.” If this was not what she meant to say, she should retract and clarify it. If it was what she meant to say, she should resign immediately. Her statement, as it stands, not only shows disrespect for our fundamental right to free speech, as protected in the First Amendment to the Constitution, it is also an implied threat to everyone who loves this country but does not support "this president."

  • Correction
Every year, 636,000 people walk out of prison gates, but people go to jail over 11 million times each year. Jail churn is particularly high because most people in jails have not been convicted. Some have just been arrested and will make bail in the next few hours or days, and others are too poor to make bail and must remain behind bars until their trial. Only a small number (195,000) have been convicted, generally serving misdemeanors sentences under a year. 1 in 5 people are locked up for drug offenses. The bottom 50% earned 20% of the nation's pre-tax income in 1979; this fell steadily to 14% by 2007 and 13% by 2014. ... Half of the U.S. population lives in poverty or is low-income, according to U.S. Census data. The ACA only works when everyone is insured--otherwise people wait until they are sick to buy insurance and this makes insurance unaffordable. In a Center for American Progress survey of roughly 3,000 DACA recipients, nine-tenths of respondents said they had jobs. Their average hourly wage was $17.46 an hour, up from $10.29 before receiving DACA. About 72 percent of respondents were in higher education. After getting DACA, nearly 80 percent of respondents said they got driver's licenses. About half became organ donors.
