We are calling on Senator Dean Heller to oppose changing the Senate's rules to rush through a lifetime appointment, especially while the Trump administration is under criminal investigation. On Friday, the full Senate will likely vote on Trump's right-wing Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch and fortunately, at least 41 Democrats are planning to stand strong and filibuster to stop his confirmation. But now that Democrats have effectively blocked the 60 vote threshold for Gorsuch's nomination, Republicans are threatening to change the rules by invoking the "nuclear option" to rush through Gorsuch's confirmation. Only ONE Republican needs to oppose the "nuclear option" to shut down this reckless power grab. Let's send a strong message to Senator Heller we are watching he needs to oppose Nuclear Option to protect Nevada and our country. Gorsuch stands with corporations not individual rights.

The Supreme Court Justice should require a minimum of 60 votes in the Senate. Stop the Republicans from going nuclear. Trump should not be allowed to choose a Justice while under investigation. We do not want a Justice that sides with the Corporations while hurting the common people. They need to stop changing the rules. They are there to protect us.

It is important to maintain the norms of democracy if we want our republic to survive. Democracy only works if all sides agree to serve both the needs of the majority and the minority. Judge Gorsuch is an extreme candidate deserving of filibuster on the Democratic side. Republicans should change the nominee, not the rules.

I worry about the damage that playing politics with this empty seat for the last year has done to the Supreme Court. The judicial branch of our government draws its power from its impartially. We need justices that are moderate enough to gain wide bipartisan support. To restore faith in the court, the President and Senate need to find a way to compromise.

For decades, a Supreme Court nominee had to get 60 votes in the US Senate to be confirmed. This ensured that the nominee appealed to a consensus of Senators from both parties. On Friday, the Republican Senate majority will vote on changing the rules so only a simple majority can confirm Trump's nominee, further politicizing the Court. We need to petition our Senators not to take this unprecedented step.

In a desperate attempt to ramrod through President Trump's extremist pick for the U.S. Supreme Court, the Senate is threatening the "Nuclear Option" which would prevent a filibuster. Gorsuch has no record of fairness in decision making. He is representing the far right and not the mainstream of public opinion. There is little to no question of where he stands on most issues and will not offer an honest interpretation of our Constitution.

Every Supreme Court nominee has been confirmed by at least 60 senators. This ensures bipartisan support of the Court. When a nominee fails, the president selects another nominee more acceptable to the Senate. There is no reason to change this rule.

The impact of Neil Gorsuch on the Supreme Court would be devastating in my opinion.

The confirmation of a Supreme Court justice under any circumstances is an immense decision. With the current President's legitimacy in question, partisanship must be put aside in favor of choosing a man with impeccable credentials. The nuclear option disallows this process.
