• Repeal of taxpayer funding of religious institutions.
The taxpayer is essentially funding discrimination and violating the separation of church & State. Religious institutions pay no taxes and are using much of the tax money for political gain and personal advancement of their own church Hierarchy. The monies are diverted from higher priority needs and it appears with little or no accounting of expenditures.

  • Limit the number of a President's Vacations
While on the campaign trail, Donald Trump stated in a CBS 60 Minutes interview that "There's just so much to be done, I don't think we'll be very big on vacations." Trump and his Republican cronies were outspoken critics of Barack Obama’s vacation time and publicly criticized him for it. Now, barely 4 weeks in, the 45th President has taken a total of 25 hours worth of vacation, traveling to Florida each time on the tax payers dime. Where is the accountability? Holding the highest office in the world is a job that requires significant time getting up to speed- which means that a newly elected official should be spending more time doing his JOB! This spending is reckless and destructive to the economy. Sign this petition and say NO MORE! Let's put integrity back in the White House and tax payers' money where it belongs.

  • Don't Kill Big Bird to Fatten the Pentagon
Half of our federal income tax dollars already go to the bloated Pentagon and its corporate contractors. The U.S. already spends more on its military than the next seven countries combined. [1] Now President Trump wants to increase the bloated Pentagon budget by another ten percent, by cutting most federal agencies that aren't "involved in security." [2] The Trump budget would completely defund the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which the CPB president warned could cause “the collapse of the public media system." [3] The Trump proposal would also cut Meals on Wheels, which uses volunteers to deliver warm meals to more than a million older Americans every week. [4] In their statements opposing the Trump budget, neither nor Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer [5] nor House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi [6] mentioned Trump’s proposal to add more bloat to the Pentagon. The reason for their silence surely wasn't public opinion: a recent poll found that 58 percent of Americans oppose the Trump plan to increase Pentagon spending by cutting other agencies. [7] Urge Congress to oppose any increase to the bloated Pentagon budget by signing our petition. • Stop House Bill 18
The bill’s provisions would allow insurance companies to control the medical care of injured workers by mandating a specific drug formulary that severely limits the prescribing of necessary medications, preventing workers from receiving the treatment they need to get better. House Bill 18, masquerading as an attempt to reduce opiate usage, would ultimately allow insurance companies to profit at the expense of the injured worker’s pain, suffering and decreased quality of life. • Remove Ivanka from the White House
The Executive Branch of the United States is not a family business and we need seasoned policy professionals representing our interests in the White House. Nepotism laws exist for a reason. The Trump administration is blatantly snubbing its nose at the law by not assigning Ivanka Trump an official title and salary, but bestowing on her all of the powers of a high level government officials.

  • Don't let Trump's budget destroy the Superfund Program or the EPA
I lived at Love Canal—which was the catalyst for the national Superfund program—with my two small children. More than 20,000 tons of chemical wastes were buried in our community—causing disease and painful illness. My daughter had a rare blood disease, and my son suffered from many medical problems, including liver disease, asthma, and epilepsy. Our house was worthless and our American dream taken away through no fault of our own. Fifty-six percent of our children were born with birth defects. I am also old enough to remember the black smoke of the steel mills, the rivers catching fire and sickness and death in communities that surrounded the factories. The magnitude of cuts suggested by this administration will take America back decades. There is no gentle way to state the obvious: Donald Trump's priority is corporations over people, children, and the planet. These cuts will gut the agency removing protections for American families. Cuts in the EPA budget mean no one is watching the polluters. No one will be there to make the polluters pay for cleanup and the costs of sick children from asthma, cancer, birth defects, and so much more. Rather than weakening the EPA and environmental protections, we should be strengthening rules to protect communities from the impacts of factory farms, fossil fuel production and use, and other pollution sources, and we should be working to ensure all people have access to clean water, safe food, and a livable climate.

  • Make government one of the people again
I am tired of being represented by elected officials who have no skin in the issues they legislate. It is time that our representatives in government, get back to being one of the people, if they are truly to represent all of our interests. -You can't legislate health care law, when you get full coverage for free. -You shouldn't refuse a (minimum) wage increase to others but raise your own. Any salary increase to elected officials should be tied to a minimum wage increase. -You can't pass laws that favor 401k in lieu of pension, or talk social security reform, when you are guaranteed a large pension, even if convicted of corruption or other illegalities. -No election contributions above $100.00 from anyone. Only Individual contributions are acceptable, by check or money order only. Including political action groups and committee members, as well as lobbyist. -If corporations are people, then they should be subject to the same tax, criminal, and bankruptcy laws as regular people; and not something different. -Electoral districts should conform to the lines of a strict uniform geometric grid. -Ongoing multi-year, unresolved issues that distract the legislation, and don't have a concise resolution, should be put to vote to the citizenry, via a referendum, at the next state or federal election. -All votes by a legislative representative at the state and federal level should be made public to its constituents via the internet on a single government managed website within 24 hours. -Vote for the interests of the people you represent, not your personal belief and/ or interest, or that of a political party. Be an American citizen first.

  • Demand that your representatives PROVE they have actually read and understand a bill before they ...
I'm sick of government officials either apparently not knowing the contents of the Patient Protection and Affordable Healthcare Act, or flat-out lying about it. I MADE THE EFFORT TO READ IT, THEY CERTAINLY COULD! Sponsors of bills should provide an overview quiz, and if a representative cannot pass it, he or she should not be allowed to vote on it, and that should be made public. That will inform their constituents whether their representatives are actually doing their jobs, are incompetent, or are playing us for fools. ENOUGH NONSENSE ALREADY!

  • Do not eliminate the National Endowment for the Arts
The National Endowment for the Arts and its corresponding National Public Radio and Public Broadcast System have been an essential part of our culture ; enriching the lives of all in this country , bringing this into the living rooms of all America. President Trump's Budget that cuts all funding cannot be allowed and must be voted against in both the House and the Senate- and as I have done in naming my state- we must also send the message to all our State Governments to make sure that the fight is carried locally and the message is sent to Washington DC.

  • Don't let Trump put justice out of reach: Protect Legal Aid
To ensure that all Americans have equal protection under the law, in 1974 Congress created a legal aid program to ensure that all Americans have access to civil legal assistance when they need it. Nearly one in five Americans – 61.8 million people – are eligible for legal aid when they need legal help. But the Trump Budget takes aim at legal aid, by eliminating funding for a program that provides legal services to 1.9 million people each year. The Legal Services Corporation funds lawyers who represent homeowners facing illegal foreclosures, help secure housing for veterans, protect seniors from scams, stop illegal harassment by debt collectors, deliver legal services to rural areas, protect victims of domestic abuse, and help disaster survivors. We can’t let Trump deny justice to Americans who can’t afford legal assistance. Tell Trump and Congress: don’t deny justice for all. Fund legal aid.
