• End the Electoral College!
The last time the Electoral College selected a candidate who did not win votes from the majority of the American people, the nation was plunged into war and economic chaos, leading to the Great Recession, the greatest economic downturn since the Great Depression.

  • Dismantle The Electoral College
U.S. Presidents are not ever elected via the popular vote because of a loophole called the Electoral College. Help now to make sure that the arcane, outdated system is destroyed for good! Despite popular belief, the U.S. Constitution does not provide for the popular election of the American president. It provides for popular election of presidential electors. Each candidate who qualifies for a given state's ballot must designate certain individuals who will serve as his or her electors if that candidate wins the popular vote in that state. When each state certifies a winner of its overall popular vote, that winner is entitled to send all his or her electors to that state's Capitol, where they will officially record their votes for their candidate. All the electors in all the states do it on the same day, the first Monday after the second Wednesday of December. This year it is Dec. 19, which is the latest it can be, just as this year's Election Day is the latest it can be. In these proceedings in the states, the winner of the statewide popular vote generally takes all the Electoral College votes, a rule stretching back to 1824.

  • Appoint Garland Now (Senate Has Waived Its Rights)
I care about this country and see the Senate's blocking of Obama's Supreme Court Nominee to be unprecedented and unconstitutional. I think it's imperative that we make our voices on this issue heard, and quickly, while there's still time to take action.

  • Dem Senators: Do not allow Trump to appoint Supreme Court Justice
Trump does not have a mandate. A majority of Americans voted for Hillary. Republican senators have refused to allow Obama, who does have a mandate, to have his nomination for Supreme Court Justice voted on. The case for Democrats against a Trump nomination is much more clear.

  • Abolish the Electoral College
The Electoral College is an antiquated institution which was originally meant to disenfranchise the electorate at large. The President-Elect should be the person who received the most votes, period. This did not happen in 1876, 1888, 2000, and in 2016.

  • End the Electoral College
For the second time in the last five elections, the person who won the popular vote did not win the presidency. We demand a constitutional amendment to abolish the Electoral College and institute the direct election of the president by the people of the United States of America.

  • Make Election Day a Public Transit Fare Holiday
In Illinois, the Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District is providing free bus rides to the polls on Election Day. [1] Other mass transit districts could do it too. We can't pay people to vote. But we can give all voters something for free, by way of compensation. We have a kind of poll tax now in some urban communities: long lines to vote. That costs people time, and therefore it costs them money; and it discourages them from voting in the future. [2] We should fix this! In the meantime, we could compensate people for their trouble. Sorry about the long line; we're working on that. In the meantime, here's your free ride. Free fares would be a friendly advertisement for voting across many people's day. You get to the subway or bus, and it's free. That would remind people that today is Election Day. A day of free fares on Election Day would be good publicity for mass transit. That's something we need to confront the challenge of climate change: more people using public transit instead of cars. Urge President Obama and Members of Congress to advocate for a public transit fare holiday on Election Day by signing our petition. • FBI Director Comey Must Resign
Our country depends upon agencies like the FBI to enforce the law and keep our country safe. Picking sides in a presidential election is absolutely unacceptable, and undermines not only the judicial system, but the credibility of our democracy. Our law enforcement officers must never allow themselves to be used for partisan attacks. FBI Director James Comey broke faith with the American people when he did just that. Despite an utter lack of new evidence related to any wrongdoing, Comey released a letter to Congress reigniting partisan attacks against Hillary Clinton just days before the election. It was clear from the beginning that this letter could influence the outcome on November 8th, a fact which Comey must have known, making his decision to violate long-standing DOJ policy all the more unacceptable. On Sunday, two days before the election, Comey released a second letter revealing that no new evidence had emerged and therefore his conclusions were unchanged from July - essentially admitting that his first letter was baseless. Now it's time for him to write a third letter announcing his resignation. Like the FBI, the military is expected to stay neutral in democratic elections. Veterans like me know that to take sides on partisan issues while actively serving is not just a violation of our oaths, it is an abuse of power. James Comey cannot continue serving as FBI Director, and regardless of the outcome of the presidential election, his continued presence in the job will hurt the credibility of the FBI and its relationship with the next President. In this volatile political time, we cannot allow our law enforcement agencies to become partisan tools. Please join me in calling on Director Comey to step down now. • Robert Satiacum: Do your job as a Washington State elector and represent the will of the people o...
I'm a Washington State resident who voted for Hillary Clinton. If Mr. Satiacum goes through with his plan of representing his own personal feelings on the election over properly doing the job of an electoral college member, I feel my vote - and the votes of other Clinton supporters - will not count.
