As a resident of a large state, I can't help but feel disenfranchised by our current electoral system. The Supreme Court has already ruled on the concept of one-person one vote. The shooting of a Washington pizza restaurant on Dec. 4th was a wake up call that dangerous fake news stories can have very real consequences. President-elect Donald Trump's pick for National Security Advisor has promoted these same kinds of dangerous, crackpot theories and must be stopped from promoting this evidence-free world view on the world stage.

The petition is to try to stop Senate Bill 638 from becoming law in Michigan during the current lame duck session . If it passes, wealthy donors will have even more power over who runs state government and more say in what state government does. This bill has been described as Citizens United on steroids.

The Green Party, along with thousands of individual donors (MI, WI and PA recounts), and now an independent election integrity organization (FL recount), have stepped up to the plate to demand recounts in states suspected of tampering with vote totals. But GOP officials in some of those states, along with GOP SuperPACs and Trump's campaign team, are doing everything they can to block the recounts. This is an affront to democracy and an abuse of power, and it must be stopped! The American people have a right to those recounts, and the assurance that the electors from those states legitimately won the right to chose the next president.

I've seen how my vote and two million others (her lead over Trump) were thrown out the window by the Electoral College practice of assigning all Electoral College votes in any state to the winner in that state. I believe we should be entitled to the truth about any foreign government's involvement in our democratic elections. While we have evidence the Russian government hacked the DNC's server and John Podesta's personal e-mails, the letter sent by members of the Senate Intelligence Committee, on November 29, 2016 implies there is more information that should be declassified. The Electoral College votes for the next President December 19, 2016. They do have the power to pick the next President and should have all the information they need to make an informed choice. Concerned public officials think that it is important that American citizens have additional information about Russia's involvement in our presidential election. Our elections greatly effect each and every American and I think that we have both a need and a right to have access to that information.

Because they want to eliminate ACA, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and pensions. People are already concerned about not having an income or insurance when they retire that we paid into. Congress is not entitled to take our money.

Democrats just won a numerical majority in New York's State Senate. But there’s a big problem: some Democrats are considering caucusing with the Republicans. Doing so would hand control of the State Senate to a group of “Trump Republicans.” Governor Andrew Cuomo is the leader of the Democratic Party in New York, and he wants to be seen as a national leader in the fight against Trump and Trumpism. But leadership has to start in his own backyard. With millions facing imminent threats from Trump, handing control of the State Senate to Republicans would be unconscionable. We are calling on Gov. Cuomo to use the full powers at his disposal to unite State Senate Democrats so that New York can offer the entire nation a clear progressive alternative to Trump.

Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette has filed a suit to stop the recount of Michigan's presidential ballots. The State's Board of Canvassers, which runs the election, has already approved the recount, making Schuette's suit an outrageous attempt to obstruct democracy and prevent Michiganders from having their votes properly considered. The count in Michigan separates Trump from Clinton by a difference of only 10,000 votes. That total difference was already adjusted down by more than 2,000 votes from an initial tally, demonstrating the need for a full hand recount to ensure accuracy. While Clinton has won the popular vote by more than 2.5 million votes nationally, differences in a handful of key states like Michigan have given Donald Trump the electoral lead, which makes a recount all the more important to ensure the accuracy and validity of this result. Our elections are too important to have any uncertainty. Our right to vote is at the heart of our democracy, and we all deserve a recount that will ensure every vote is considered and counted.

In just a few weeks, Donald Trump will step into the Oval Office and be the most powerful person in the world. He never released his taxes. He owes money to foreign creditors. His campaign paid millions of dollars to his own businesses. Instead of using a blind trust, his children will be put in charge of his companies -- even though they're still advising him.
