FBI Director, James Comey, has acted egregiously in releasing a vague letter related to Hillary Clinton's email case. This letter was released to influence the 2016 Presidential election. The standard is that no information which would influence elections should be released within 60 days. He has also inappropriately publically weighed into this case on a number of occasions. As an Attorney Director Comey knows that the standard is for the cases not to be tried in the court of public opinion. Our judicial system is based on "blind justice." Director Comey has intentionally weighted the Hillary Clinton email case where any sense of fairness has been removed. Therefore, given the gravity of Director Comey's actions we are calling for him to resign or be removed.

He has possibly given the election to Trump which would not only destroy the United States but likely wreak chaos globaly. He has lost all personal credibility and severely eroded trust in the FBI and reinforced Trumps attack on all of our institutions and democracy.

The Standing Rock Sioux and the 6 other Tribes designated in both 1851 and 1868 Fort Laramie Treaties; the United States is directed to protect Native Americans from US citizens (remember they weren't citizens until 1924) and to preserve and protect their Treaty Lands. We (the U.S. Government) immediately violated those treaties. Our Constitution guarantees all citizens the right to free assembly and protest but Gov. Mead and Gov Dalrymple (ND) have chosen to ignore the Constitutional rights of an entire Sovereign Nation of people joined by thousands of non-Indian people to protest the illegal (tied up in Court) Bakken Pipeline through their lands. These people are protecting one of our most important national resources - our water supply; yet these two Governors (and more) have, instead of protecting indigenous rights, declared riot conditions and moved in hired and borrowed troops to "control" the situation. A big show of military force here is entirely unwarranted. The Tribes are unarmed! Tell Governor Mead that he is in violation of International Law, has helped to create an International Incident on American soil and is derelict in his duty to use our police resources with discretion - not to protect his own personal interests in the OIL industry! In Maricopa County, the Sheriff is in charge of guarding the ballots. The DOJ shouldn't let him do it unwatched. Historic voter registration deserves historic protection of democracy. More than 150,000 people registered to be new voters and will seek to cast their ballot against Arpaio for the first time. Groups across the area are doing their part for a successful election and the Department of Justice needs to do the same. For the first time in years, the Department of Justice announced that it won't send federal monitors to the County where Trump ally and criminally-charged Sheriff Arpaio is running for re-election. The Department's decision to be absent is a dangerous one given that the Sheriff is the one in charge of guarding the ballots cast on election day. The County recorder has already gotten caught sending out wrong polling information in one instance. And local polling became a national embarrassment during the primaries when fewer locations led to hours-long lines.

Some Minnesota elected officials are calling on Minnesota authorities not to send police officers to the Dakota Access Pipeline protest at Standing Rock after it was revealed that the Hennepin County Sheriff had done so. Donald Trump’s attacks on the integrity of our elections just reached a new, unhinged level -- on Monday he claimed that “voter fraud is all too common” (despite a complete lack of evidence) and accused his opponents of attempting to ”rig the election at the polling booths." This is completely false and entirely reprehensible -- Mr. Trump has zero evidence to back up his claims, but by repeating them over and over, he’s attempting to convince Americans that their votes won't count, undermining trust in our democracy, and emboldening those seeking to intimidate eligible voters at the polls. We must call on every candidate for Congress and elected official (especially those responsible for administering our elections) to forcefully reject these irresponsible conspiracy theories, and instead endorse nonpartisan, common-sense proposals to ensure everyone’s vote will count. Many key Republicans, like Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted, House Speaker Paul Ryan, and Sen. Lindsey Graham, are already heeding our call and rejecting Trump’s conspiracy theories. Every elected official must join them in publicly repudiating Trump’s dangerous rhetoric. Those running our elections should support common sense safeguards like automatic voter registration (a proven success in Oregon and elsewhere) that strengthen the security of the voting system and make sure everyone’s vote counts. SOCIAL SECURITY is an insurance policy, not an ENTITLEMENT, as they would like you to believe. All people pay into SOCIAL SECURITY every week from their paychecks. Social Security is not a tax but a payment on your insurance (policy) even if it is called a tax. "Privatization means increased retirement risk, severe cuts in Social Security. benefits, and a multi-trillion-dollar increase in the federal debt. Privatization diverts money out of Social Security into individual accounts, leaving an even larger solvency problem" as President George W. Bush did on April 5, 2005, when he 'borrowed' $ 2.5 trillion in surplus revenues to pay his tax cuts for the rich and fight his Iraq wars and other projects - never paying it back. This needs to be paid back and stopped. Stop the general fund surplus that the government can loan to themselves for their own agenda. "Why are we not solvent?"

The Republican Party claims to be committed to free elections and the democratic process despite its consistent efforts to disenfranchise voters through so called "Voter ID laws." Many of the Party's leaders have broken with Trump lately as if he were not a representation of the themes the Party has been advocating for decades (although he has discarded the frills and obfuscation). Trump's recent allegations that the election is rigged and his calls for group (mobs) to "watch your polling booths…(in)…certain areas" all contribute to what Matt Viser and Tracy Jan's October 15 Boston Globe story says is his increasing tendency "undermine faith in democratic institutions." This is a very scary scenario. If Republicans have any commitment beyond lip service to the electoral process, they need to publicly and widely denounce Trump's efforts to undermine it, and commit to protecting the rights of voters—of all colors, genders and incomes—at the polls.
