The Senate has a constitutional duty and an obligation to their constituents to confirm or reject President Obama's judicial nominees. Voters can then hold Senators accountable for their votes. I am concerned about the Supreme Court's rulings that unlimited campaign spending is the equivalent of free speech, and want to see any nominee state their position on this.

I believe Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders have similar political views especially with respect to the economy. I believe Elizabeth's endorsement and support of Bernie Sanders would help his campaign. The race is very close and I think Warren's support is needed right now to help Bernie win the up coming primaries and the nomination.

Replacing Scalia will change the balance of the Supreme Court and put us on the road to take back our nation.

For decades, the Supreme Court has been biased in favor of corporate and far-right interests. The Citizens United and Shelby County rulings — allowing billionaires and Big Business to spend literally unlimited amounts of money interfering with elections, and gutting essential civil rights protections in the landmark 1965 Voting Rights Act — are just two recent examples of the court’s radical bias. The American people — and our cherished system of checks and balances between the branches of government — need and deserve a high court that is FAIR. We call on you to nominate former Harvard Law School professor and current United States Senator Elizabeth Warren to replace deceased Justice Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court.

To save the democracy: Lessig was once a Republican, Libertarian and only recently a Democrat. He has seen all sides, and understands the harm money has had in corrupting government.

The Republicans have consistently thwarted the President's agenda and have publically stated that they will not consider ANY nominee that the President should send to fill the current vacancy on the SCOTUS. We cannot have a vacancy on the SCOTUS for over 12 months.

Progressives agreed with Scalia on almost nothing. This should have been a time to let his family grieve. Instead, within minutes, Republicans politicized the news. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell said, "This vacancy should not be filled until we have a new President." Senator Ted Cruz declared, "Justice Scalia was an American hero. We owe it to him, and the nation, for the Senate to ensure that the next President names his replacement." Democratic Leader Harry Reid responded, "Failing to fill this vacancy would be a shameful abdication of one of the Senate's most essential Constitutional responsibilities." This could turn into a Constitutional crisis. Things are moving fast and conventional wisdom will unfortunately be formed quickly. Silence is not an option. The PCCC has already reached out to top Senate offices and will send this petition to Senators. The media will surely report on this public outcry.

Because Mitch McConnell and Chuck Grassley have stated unequivocally that they will stonewall whoever President Obama picks regardless of qualifications. This level of obstructionism is disgusting!

Every single superdelegate has stood for an election in the Democratic Party and won. They are members of Congress and party leaders who represent vested party interests. You do not ask in the middle of an election to suddenly drop a practice because your candidate isn't winning. The issue of superdelegates should be addressed at the proper time--after an election. And definitely not because the election is not going your way.
