• Expose the dirty energy industry's secret campaign contributions
The fossil fuel industry spends millions of dollars -- more than $100 million on the 2014 election alone -- on our elections. It’s paid off in the form of Congress’ shameful inaction on climate change. The dirty energy industry is playing a shell game -- funnelling millions in campaign contributions to science-denying lawmakers so they can shut down public debate and congressional action about climate change. And thanks to Citizens United, they get to do it all in secret. But we can make the dirty energy companies come clean about whom they are funding. Voters deserve to know exactly who is influencing our public policy. And if the dirty energy industry is directly funding climate deniers in Congress, every American has a right to know. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse just introduced an amendment to the energy appropriations bill that requires any company making $1 million or more off of fossil fuels to disclose their political spending. If Sen. Whitehouse’s amendment passes, we’ll know exactly who’s taking money from dirty energy interests -- and we can hold the corporations spreading unscientific misinformation accountable.

  • Redraw the districts, repeal the gerrymandering in Indiana.
The Republicans have redrawn, gerrymandered, our districts so they overwhelmingly support Republicans. They gerrymandered my district so much the our solid Democratic congresswoman lost. The districts shouldn't favor one party or the other.

  • KET: Let Grant Short (US Senate) Debate
I am a US Senate candidate from Kentucky running against Rand Paul. Today, I received the minimum requirements to participate in KET's (a public service) debate. They feel $100,000 is what legitimizes one as a candidate. I disagree. I say ideas do. Join me if you feel the same, in telling them to remove this from their requirements.

  • The Flint water crisis is just the beginning
The Flint water crisis represents the worst possible intersection of racial and economic inequality, as well as political exploitation and corruption in the United States. But it is larger than Flint. It connects to the dangers faced by Black communities around the country, who are exposed to toxic chemicals and environmental hazards every day.1 Across the U.S., predominantly Black and low-income communities are at dire risk of severe, lifelong health problems caused by lead poisoning. The federal government needs to take action to ensure that Black and low-income communities are protected from environmental hazards that negatively affect their health and livelihoods. Unfortunately, Congress has slashed the budget of the Centers for Disease Control—and slashed the lead prevention program as a result. There is one easy step Congress can take to fight lead-poisoned drinking water: restore funding to the CDC's Healthy Homes and Lead Poisoning Prevention Program.

  • Nottingham, New Hampshire Petition Warrant Article
A 5 member BOS allows for a better representation of all of Nottingham's residents. It provides protection from a "super majority" of two pushing personal agendas. It prevents the frequent "conflict of interest" that occurs in a smaller town from being left in the hands of two people who could potentially be split on a decision and delay action. It protects from the same one or two persons being over represented on town subcommittees, allowing for more diverse opinions and knowledge. While the petition process only allows the question to be voted on, it is of *paramount* importance that supporters of this measure vote for this Warrant Article on the Special Ballot (March 8th), and attend the Town Meeting (March 12th) to make sure the measure is not defeated by a minority of opponents in that forum. We can only change our Town for the better by directly engaging and supporting measures like this that will benefit our Citizens in the years to come.

  • Tell the Massachusetts Senate to pass strong public records reform!
The Massachusetts public records law is broken. Our freedom of information law hasn't been substantially updated since 1973 and has received an F grade multiple years in a row. Journalists, citizens, and all those with a need - and right - to know what their government is doing are too often unable to find out. We need reform to bring added sunshine to our state and help protect the public's right to know.

  • Pass an Illinois State Budget
I am concerned about the lives of Illinois' most vulnerable residents. IL still has no budget and hence is not paying for social service programs and schools. Our governor is leading our state towards a public health and educational crisis. So far 4700 residents will lose needed social services, 30 programs have closed, and 750 jobs have been lost- mine or yours could be next! This is unfair and poor management of our state tax dollars. Please take a stand and sign this petition! Debbie
