• U.S. Representative Ron Kind: Denounce New Democratic Coalition's attacks on progressives
Numerous members of the New Democratic Coalition, an organization of pro-Wall Street and anti-middle class Democrats led by U.S. Representative Ron Kind of Wisconsin, recently launched attacks on progressive Democrats for opposing legislation to repeal many of the regulations in the Dodd-Frank bill that were designed to protect consumers who use our country's financial institutions. The New Democratic Coalition is one of the most influential organizations that compromise the Republican Wing of the Democratic Party. The New Democratic Coalition supports much of the same corporate agenda that the Republicans do, most notably deregulating Wall Street to put American consumers at the mercy of predatory banks even moreso than they are now and enacting free trade agreements to drive down wages, ship American jobs to foreign countries, and further destroy what little of our country's economic sovereignty remains. The fact that New Democratic Coalition members are openly attacking progressive-minded, pro-middle class Members of Congress for standing up for the American worker and consumer proves that they are more interested in dividing the party and serving special interests than making America a better place to live. Since U.S. Representative Ron Kind of Wisconsin is the Chairman of the New Democratic Coalition, it is his responsibility to denounce the divisive attacks on progressives from the members of his group. We, the signatories of this petition, are calling for Representative Kind to publicly denounce the New Democratic Coalition's War on Progressives.

  • Millions of Voices Against Citizens United, You in?
Five years ago this month, on January 21st, the Supreme Court handed down its infamous decision on Citizens United vs. FEC, threatening to tear apart the fabric of our democracy by granting powerful corporations and wealthy donors unfettered influence in our political process. That decision paved the way for unlimited corporate political spending. Fortunately, since Citizens United, a vibrant grassroots movement has formed calling for a constitutional amendment to limit the influence of big money in politics. More than 600 towns and cities, 16 states, and 200 members of Congress have gone on record in favor of amending the Constitution. In September of this past year the United States Senate debated a proposed amendment for a full week, with 55 senators voting to advance the Democracy for All amendment that would overturn decisions like Citizens United and McCutcheon. Now, together with more than 50 organizations, MoveOn.org and our partners at Common Cause, Free Speech For People, People For the American Way, and Public Citizen are working to gather five million petition signatures calling for an amendment. So far we have already gathered more than 3.7 million signatures. These millions of petitions can help create a powerful story – and a call to action – that can be shared with members of Congress, the media and general public. Will you add your name today?

  • CONGRESS AND SENATE MUST PAY INTO SOCIAL SECURITY
In their first day of convening, the US Congress is proposing to cut SS and Disability Benefits by 20%. They must change the Law so that they are also required to pay into a System that the rest of America contributes to. This action would be a positive impact in funding our SS Program. Their job is to represent of the Will of The People. It is TIME for us now, to DEMAND that the same Laws apply to them as the rest of America.

  • Police Body Camera
The petition is about providing communities with the needed information to restore trust with PDs and provide reliable evidence to ensure due process for ALL suspects related to Probable cause. The data from the body cameras should be maintained by a third party (not PDs), the Police should have VERY MINIMAL controls to the functions of the device (on/switch), and the data needs to be transparent to the public and MUST be transparent to Governing bodies as evidence. This policy change should assure probable cause used by PDs, ensuring the public and governing bodies have a proper representation of encounters with Police, resulting in restored trust between the public and public servants and their ability to maintain peace for our great nation.

  • Look into the prosecutor misconduct of Smith County Texas
People are appealing to the courts and not being heard. The Judges and DA's in Smith County Texas are known for not going through all of the procedures of the legal system. Families need for the Federal Government to look into these 50yrs to life sentences and see if the time is merited. My husband received a life sentence for an alleged misdemeanor assault that all the evidence pointed towards his innocence, but yet he was convicted of the crime. We need someone to look at this county's cases that are being appealed, but not being heard. Injustice anywhere is a threat everywhere

The purchase agreement made in the 1800 -1900 century is invalid. The prescribed legally purchase and sale treatment was not implemented. I base myself in this case, the laws of the country who have taken possession of the land of the Apaches. The money was not paid and the contract binding agreement was also recognized in any way. Thus, the sacred lands legally still belong to the Apaches.

  • Selective enforcement of Michigan Constitution
The Detroit Active and Retired Employees Association (www.GOFUNDME.COM/PENSIONDEFENSEFUND) implores the U.S. Justice Dept, as soon as possible, to halt any and all pending alterations to retirement plans and to halt further transfers of wealth from the City of Detroit until an Open Civil Investigation has been conducted. Our civil liberties were violated by the State because the Michigan Constitution is contractually obligated to protect pensions. We request an independent, neutral voice of authority to sustain civil liberties versus restraining domination, and to ensure that the actions of the bankruptcy were legal, boundaries were not overstepped, and that rules and laws were followed to the spirit and the letter and not by whimsical interpretations. • Overturn Citizens United without Congress!
The disastrous Citizens United ruling by the Supreme Court has allowed virtually unlimited spending on election campaigns by corporate special interests and the rich. Result: UNLIMITED CORRUPTION! Congress has failed to pass an amendment to address this urgent problem. If we don't act now and get more states to call for a U. S. Article V convention to bypass Congress and propose amendments to the US Constitution, for direct ratification vote by the states, including an amendment to overturn Citizens United, the damage to our democracy, economy, environment and our lives will get far worse. An Article V convention of states' delegates is the remedy the founders put into our Constitution for exactly this kind of situation.

  • East Hampton Town Board: Stop Aircraft Noise, Now!
To the East Hampton Town board members: East Hampton Airport was traditionally intended to serve local pilot-owned and operated aircraft for personal recreation and transportation. Yet, aircraft noise due to unintended and non-traditional users of East Hampton Airport -- commercially operated helicopters, jets, and seaplanes -- has grown to become an intolerable burden on the peaceful enjoyment of our homes and gardens, both near to and distant from the airport, upon our beaches, waterways, and preserved open space, and upon wildlife habitat throughout the East End. This occurred over time, without local design or consent, due to Federal Aviation Administration control over the airport. Attempts to protect homes by directing traffic over preserved open space and wildlife habitat are both unacceptable and a demonstrated failure. Now that FAA control has lapsed, it is imperative that the East Hampton Town Board immediately return East Hampton Airport to its traditional and intended use, reclaiming our precious peace and quiet, by imposing a curfew and excluding helicopters and other aircraft types noisier than the pilot-owned and operated aircraft for which the airport was designed and intended.

  • Mayor de Blasio: Do NOT resign!
The calls for Mayor de Blasio's resignation are dangerously misguided. His resignation would send us headlong down the wrong path. de Balsio is right to embrace the public's call for reform. Demonizing the public's call for reform will only lead to an entrenchment of the problems causing unrest and an escalation of hostility between police and civilians,

  • Congress: We won’t forget you gave even more power to the rich.
Congress and President Obama just gave the wealthy even more unfair influence over our government. After Citizen's United that's the last thing we need. Among give-aways to Wall Street and other special interests, the "cromnibus" budget bill increased TEN-FOLD the amount one person can donate to a political party during an election! The new ceiling is $1.5 million, allowing the wealthy few to buy vast amounts of so-called "speech" –and power over elections and the government-- regular Americans cannot afford. Tell Congress you won't forget they gave rich special interests even more power.
