Rep. McClintock: Plug the "Burger King" loopholeRight now, a corporation can dodge billions in taxes just because it buys a company in another country, then claims to be headquartered there. It's known as an "inversion" and it's just another way big companies can avoid paying their fair share. Today it's Burger King, but there are a lot more companies lining up behind them. Last month, public pressure stopped Walgreens from moving abroad. Over the last few weeks, we have put Burger King on notice about their move to Canada. Now it's time we close this loophole all together. It's time to plug this loophole, and stop companies from leaving and forcing the rest of us to pick up the tab. We can't let big corporations continue to dodge taxes with high paid tax lawyers -- everyone should play by the same rules. How can we invest in education or job growth if large, profitable companies are scheming to avoid paying their fair share? We have a real opportunity to close this loophole right now -- but we've got to strike while the iron is hot. With all the scrutiny being paid to this issue while Burger King is in the process of declaring itself a Canadian company, we can push lawmakers to take up the issue. So far, Rep. Tom McClintock hasn't signed on in support of this common-sense idea -- that's why we need people like you take action.442 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Sean Garren

Senators Boxer and Feinstein: Please lead to overturn Citizens UnitedThe U.S. Senate just voted 79-18 to advance Senate Joint Resolution 19, the Democracy for All constitutional amendment that would overturn Citizens United, to a vote on Thursday! This is a momentous opportunity to get Senators on record whether or not they think money is speech. SJR 19 would make history if a majority of the Senate votes for it, even if it doesn’t get the 2/3 needed to pass. Plus, it will show exactly which senators stand with voters -- and which stand with the wealthy interests who want to buy elections with unlimited money. Sign the petition thanking Senators Boxer and Feinstein for co-sponsoring and urging them to fight for it now.7,458 of 8,000 SignaturesCreated by California Clean Money Campaign

Mitch McConnell: What exactly did you find so "inspiring" at the Koch brothers' conference? An online news show called The Undercurrent obtained audio from the secretive Koch brothers-sponsored conference in June where a series of speeches were made by Charles Koch and close associates outlining their repugnant and extreme philosophy of government. Quotes from those speeches, which McConnell referred to as “inspiring”, conference include: Richard Fink, the Kochs’ top political strategist, said that when he sees someone “on the street” he says, “Get off your ass, and work hard like we did.” Multiple Koch associates made comparisons throughout the conference between liberals and Hitler, Mao, Stalin, Lenin, North Korea, and suicide bombers. Fink said that “Yeah, we want to decrease regulations. Why? It’s because we can make more profit, OK? Yeah, cut government spending so we don’t have to pay so much taxes,” said Fink. “There’s truth in that, you all know, because we’re in the 30 percent of the freedom fighters.” Dr. Will Ruger, the vice president of research and policy of Charles Koch Institute, described their theory of an ideal government: “Government is thus limited to a small, but absolutely critical number of tasks, basically keeping our neighborhoods and cities safe from crime, defending our country from those who might violate our national territories, our commerce at sea, and providing justice in a fair and apolitical -- political court system.” In other words, police, military, and a criminal system- but no Social Security or Medicare, no student loans or public schools, no food or water safety rules, no publicly owned roads or bridges. Fink said about workers getting minimum wage that they are “being paid more than their value-added." If you are as offended as we are that Mitch McConnell is “inspired” by all this, join us in signing this petition.1,941 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Mike Lux

No on the State of JeffersonA small group of Tea Partiers are petitioning the California State Legislature to form the State of Jefferson. This effort would result in the poorest state in the Union, financially bankrupt as soon as it became a state. There are no provisions for schools, colleges, roads, law enforcement or fire protection. We can ill afford to remain silent and let a small radical group represent us without saying "NO"!975 of 1,000 SignaturesCreated by Dolly Verrue

John Boehner and The House Republicans Should Not Use ANY Tax Payer Monies for the Lawsuit Agains...There are so many important things that our Congress should be tackling for our country. I don't think I have to spell it out for our representatives that they are lacking in getting important issues solved, as in Infrastructure, climate change, raising the minimum wage, removing subsidies for large corporations, stopping the toxic oil spills & poisoning of our citizens from fracking. The Republicans make up stories about this and that, (Benghazi) 501(c)4 that should NOT be used for political contributions, and you know it. The IRS investigation is and was a waste of time & money. We, the American people, want our money back that has been wasted. Ted Cruz needs to pay back all the money wasted with his government shutdown and Darrell Issa needs to payback the American people for the monies he has wasted. And, NO funds from the taxpayers should be used for any lawsuit against our president! A lawsuit against our president is un-American and is treason.90 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Ken Raab
