The lack of Empathy by law makers has no place in the American way of life

In light of the recent purchase of American Politics regarding the lack of a vote on Gun Legislation, complete transparency of monies given by lobbyists is tantamount to returning politics to the people. Any and every politician must reveal the source and the amounts of money accepted. AS SOON AS IT IS ACCEPTED.

The vote on the Manchin-Toomey amendment to expand background checks for gun sales at gun shows and over the internet shows that the compromise on rules reform that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid agreed to at the start of this Congress is clearly not working. Although 86% of Americans supported the Manchin-Toomey amendment and 54 Senators voted to pass it, the amendment failed because, under the Senate rules, it was subject to the same 60-vote threshold ordinarily reserved for ending filibusters. Enough is enough. Tell Senator Reid that you expect him to use his power as Majority Leader to enact meaningful filibuster reform so that we can end this obstructionism and restore accountability to the U.S. Senate.

I'm being affected every day because nothing ever get done to better our country.

Our elected senators and representatives should provide stellar examples to us all. Therefore, if they are convicted of a crime while in office they should be removed from that elected position.

Because Senate leadership failed to reform the rules of the filibuster, background checks for firearms sales failed by a majority vote of 54 yea to 46 nay. Sixty votes needed to override the filibuster failed. Government action is being held hostage by this obstructionist procedure called the Senate filibuster. Ninety (90) percent of Americans who want background checks for firearms sales were hurt by the filibuster. It must be reformed!

this unfair tax will not only effect seniors,but also military veterans and thier familys. it will cost an averarge of $10,000 to $20,000 over a ten year period. why is this happening? no other segment of our society is under this type of attack.

Please demand an end to the Filibuster forever - it's well past due! Extremist minority in politics should no longer be able to hi-jack America.

I am sick and tired of listening to all the politicians claiming we have to cut this that or another thing when they will never feel the consequences of those cuts.

This IS the issue of our lifetime. Nothing else approaches it's importance on the face of the earth today. Not GLBT, not second amendment, not immigration reform, nothing touches the critical subject of clean and fair elections. For if we do not have elected representatives who are in place to act as solely as agents of U.S. Citizens then we can't guarantee any of these other rights will be safe.

I think Congrss medical coverages be changed to the same as medicare and every time social security or medicvare is cut congress pay is cut they should pay taxes on all the perks received same as the working person and they should not earn retirement until they have 12 years of retirement also they would only be allowed 4 terms so new blood can come in

Recently we have seen many examples of an astounding degree of ignorance of basic scientific principles, procedures, and facts by many members of congress, and other government officials. From the denial of global warming/climate change to the belief in the magical ability of women to prevent conception after they've been raped. Do we want the future and present of our planet to be controlled and determined by such ignoramuses? We, the people, must make sure that our legislators can pass a test in basic scientific literacy -to be drawn up by recognized scientists in each field: physics; chemistry; biology; geology; CLIMATOLOGY; and, ecology, at the very least. No one should be able to assume office unless they have passed the test. (It could be called," No Politician Left Behind.") This is a serious proposal; our planet needs to be saved from environmental destruction, Now.
