The citizens of Oregon need to feel safe in all public places. Now is the time to mandate gun safety in our state. We've already experienced and increase in gun related incidents in the Metro area including gang and the shooting at Clackamas Town Center. We do not want to wait for another devastating occurrence before we act. The time is now.

The practice of gerrymandering has been used by both parties in Statehouses throughout the country to effectively disenfranchise voters and tip the balance in favor of the party controlling the state legislature at the time. This has led to more and more extreme candidates getting elected, as they play to the fringes of their own party, rather than to the center of the electorate, resulting in the current congress, mired in fillibusters and inaction.

Term limits must be set on US House and US Senate. This has effected all of us.

I'm not in the military, and I never have been. But, that doesn't matter. I understand that spending cuts need to happen in our government, but the education of the men and women fighting for our freedom is not the place for this to happen. Aid for our troops attending college has been taken away, and that is not okay. President Obama has long said he wants to bring America back up to leading the world in education. Let him stand by what he preaches, and help all of our troops better their lives and achieve their goals!

I am 81 years old. Live in a retirement community. I am buying my home but not allowed to receive a reduction in interest rates or a Reverse Mortgage because of a state law against people who do not own their land. I believe this law is extremely UNFAIR.

First Gov. Corbett was elected by "WHO"? Then he cut education, denied free Medicaid money from the government, polluted farming communities with fracking, now he is taking our state land away and our state run liquor stores. Congress is not productive. Nothing gets done. Congress' approval rating hovers around 10%.

Congress make decisions that will affect millions, without fully understanding the repercussions of their actions. They vote for cuts, perhaps thinking this will save the government money when in fact it ends up costing more in the long run.

I’ve seen a lot of things in my eight-year career working for MARTA. The one thing that keeps me going, though, is knowing I’m able to provide the best service to people who depend on MARTA to get to work, pick their kids up from school or visit their doctor. But extreme politicians at the state capitol are trying to jeopardize the service, safety and affordability of public transit in Atlanta by pushing a bill to require mandatory privatization of MARTA. If this legislation passes, people could see the quality of services decrease in order to make room for bigger and bigger profits for the company running the system. For more than 40 years, we've kept the “public” in Atlanta's public transportation system. Tell your senator to keep it that way.
