We need to limit corporate and special interest influence over elected officials and representatives. Limit electoral campaign contributions to registered voters within the district, limited to what ordinary voters can afford.

In November, Michigan voters overwhelmingly rejected the Emergency Financial Manager law that allowed Governor Snyder to takeover any municipality they deem as unstable. But immediately after the law was rejected by voters, Governor Snyder and Republicans in Lansing pushed forward a new version of the bill, completely ignoring the message voters sent. Now, Governor Snyder has appointed an Emergency Financial Manager of Detroit, who will be paid $275,000 annually. This state takeover threatens the hardest working Detroiters who could suffer from jobs being terminated and city services eliminated. Tell Governor Snyder to listen to Michigan voters and end the state takeover of Detroit.

Elizabeth Warren: "Never before in American history has a minority in the Senate blocked a nominee to try to get changes in a law they don't like and don't have the votes to change.” She's talking about the 43 Senators who have threatened to block Rich Cordray's re-nomination as director. They don’t question his qualifications; their grievance is with the CFPB itself. "Blocking Rich Cordray is about weakening the agency,” says Warren. It's "about keeping the game rigged" so "consumers remain in the dark -- and a few bad actors can rake in big profits.”

States should not be allowed to divide electoral votes. Laws should be passed to prohibit this.

If we "Support Our Troops", then we should not cut any of their benefits. They risk their lives for us for meager salaries. Their tuition benefit is a means for them to prepare themselves for life outside of the military. Stop the cuts.

Assault weapons have no place in the homes of citizens. Please support legislation that would ban the sale, distribution and purchase of assault weapons.

The Congress of the United States is no longer responding in a responsible way to the citizens of the United States. It is time for a change that will benefit the American People.

I believe as individual states we should vote in amendments to lower wages of our representatives house or senate ,and remove all benefits. Also introduce term limits to 2 or 4 years maximum overriding their power to raise their wages this will cut down on special interest groups and corporate interference and assist in refocusing our government on the real needs of the people and not party lines

Our state recently received a failing grade for legislative transparency on the web. In addition, our public records law is broken. Journalists, concerned citizens, and others with a need – and right – to know how our government is working often can’t get the information they need. That’s just unacceptable, especially in a state like ours. This petition calls on the Legislature to make much needed changes so that Massachusetts leads rather than lags behind the nation in having accessible, searchable, and usable information about our government online.

Certain motivations of lawmaking, have moved well away from the benefit of the country and populous to the great benefit of lobbyists, large corporations and of the lawmakers themselves. The country suffers and starves, while our lawmakers (both Republicans and Democrats) say,"Let them eat cake." The banks, large and multinational corporations, who constantly whine for less taxes and governmental control (free market capitalism), then want to be "bailed out," whenever they get caught by their own bad policies. This is just a few reasons to start taking a direct control of "our employees" in Washington DC.
