• Jim Graham: Resign
DC residents deserve better from our elected officials than the misconduct of Jim Graham. Investigation after investigation has concluded that his behavior with the lottery contract was unethical, and yet he refuses to take responsibility for his actions. How many more tax dollars must be wasted investigating his misdeeds? We agree with the Washington Post editorial calling on Graham to resign. Despite once again escaping sanctions, "What he can’t escape is that his actions have again been found indefensible." Graham's misdeeds distract from the work of improving our neighborhoods for all Ward 1 and DC residents. Resign, Mr. Graham.

  • Pennsylvania - Join the National Popular Vote Compact
The way we elect the President is broken. Five of our 46 Presidents have won the Electoral College without winning the nation-wide vote aka divergent election (in 2016, 2000, 1888, 1876, and 1824). Not every vote is equal across the country. Here in PA, we have 20 Electors representing nearly 13 million residents; that's over 600,000 PA residents per Elector. In Wyoming, they have 3 Electors representing under 600,000 residents or less than 200,000 WY residents per Elector. That means it takes more than 3 PA residents to equal the voting power of 1 WY resident. Shouldn't every American vote be equal? Under National Popular Vote, every vote is equal and every vote counts no matter where you live or what political party you endorse. US voter turnout numbers are some of the lowest in the world. It's not a surprise since 48 states use a winner-take-all system. If you are a Republican living in California, why bother voting. Same is true for a Democrat living in Texas. Under NPV, every vote counts! This can only improve voter turnout. In 2020, all of the 212 general-election campaign events were in just 17 states, meaning that 33 states and the District of Columbia did not receive any events at all. Nebraska, Virginia, and Indiana hosted one event each. Pennsylvania received 47 general-election campaign events -- the most of any state and 22% of the total. The Presidency is the only office that is designed to represent all Americans. Yet, it routinely becomes the office of the swing states, not the country as a whole. NPVIC would force candidates to campaign nationally, addressing the needs of every American. Bottom-line, the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact would guarantee the Presidency to the candidate who receives the most votes nationwide. NPVIC would ensure that every vote, in every state, will matter in every Presidential election.

  • Make Our Representatives Honest
For us to respect their work, our Representatives in Congress need to know that they should not be allowed to pass laws that are not applicable to them as much as they are to us. This is basic common sense.

  • Impose Term Limits On Congress
I am starting this petition, because I am sick of the life-time politicians we have in Congress. Congress continues to act as if the people don't matter, and only do things when it benefits them. The amount of rotation in Congress is at an all-time low, due to peoples disenchantment of our system. I believe if there were shorter terms and no life-time politicians for Lobbyist to corrupt, Congress might do more for the people that voted them into Office.

  • Representative Tim Murphy: give back the $5,000 you took from the NRA, and support commonsense po...
The NRA has spent the past six weeks holding bizarre press events and taking public actions that show how out of touch they are with the rest of the country. Rep. Murphy is representing the interests of gun manufacturers instead of representing the wishes of his constituents. Citizens want common sense gun legislation.

  • Return the City Manager
Return to a more efficient and effective form of city government. As a long-term city employee and union president for over nine years I have seen the problems, poor stewardship, and lack of professional training and behavior of city management. It's time to return to a more beneficial leadership process.

  • Direct Democracy
It is time we made our democracy more dynamic and meaningful. The President of the United States should be elected by a direct vote. Whoever gets the most total votes in the country should be President. There is no need for an electoral college.

  • Restore our representative democracy by passing HJR-94
Our representative democracy is broken. The only way to fix it is to amend the Constitution and overturn Citizens United. There are only two ways to amend the Constitution: 1. Through Congress 2. Through our State Legislatures via an Article V Convention. Congress could not pass something as basic and reasonable as the Disclose Act (disclosing who is giving money to candidates). Since Congress is the source of the problem we cannot trust them to solve the problem. That leaves only one option: The Article V Convention called by State Legislatures. State Legislators have the power to compel Congress to call a convention to fix our democracy and restore the republic. Any amendment has to be ratified by 38 states whether proposed by Congress or a convention. Texas can be the first state to call for an Article V Convention to restore our representative democracy by passing HJR-94 and its Senate companion resolution. • Take your freedom of choice back from the Federal government.
When the United States was first founded the Federal Government had two jobs; maintaining roads and national defense. This country was founded on the right for each individual to have the right to practice and express their beliefs freely as long as it doesn't infringe upon the right of others to do the same. The current policies and laws the Federal Government impose on Americans are a disgrace to the foundation of this country. It's time for the people to take their power back!

  • Give Us Back Our Money
We seniors are already living beneath the cost of living. These monies were deducted from our personal or our spouses earnings for many years and much of this was borrowed on by the government over the years. The Supreme Court now says this law is not legal-well, if not, then give us back the money that was deducted, and leave the whole thing alone from now on!
