TAXES: While democrats and republicans in the California Legislature squared off against each other over balancing the state's budget, the state incurred penalties of millions of dollars per day until the issue was resolved. While we have a democrat super majority, let's get this done immediately. No politician wants to face the wrath of the constituency after taking the pocket books of the voters for granted, but sometimes, we need tax increases. We elect leaders to make these decisions. Democrats should not assume the most recent quick balanced budget is a sign of prosperity forever. I would also ask the legislature to require all future ballot initiatives to come with the plan to pay for their implementation... especially if that initiative is from the public.

Our state legislators spent about 3/4 million of our tax dollars in their entitlement program to themselves, called "per diems". They get $88 per day for transportation, food and lodging. When was the last time you received reimbursement for going to work?

Our Congress and Senate cannot operate unencumbered by the overpowering needs and wants of corporations and organizations that are governed by profit. As a result, meaningful legislation that is structured for the benefit of individual citizens cannot compete with the needs and wants of wealthy donors to the two major parties. This situation has negatively affected my welfare as it has negatively effected all citizens and compromised the future of our Great Country. We cannot hope to get reliable information about the need for new legislation nor can we hope to get needed legislation to pass that is designed to benefit ordinary citizens if it conflicts in any way with the bottom line of wealthy corporations. This situation is a set-up for the failure of our Democracy.

Doing my part to save the state I live in from the snowballing backslide catalyzed by McCrory's illogical and damaging policies by asking others to take action NOW before its too late.

Supporting Tax loopholes for big business hurts all of us.

Governor Deal has rejected the billions of dollars in federal Medicaid funds available to us through the Healthcare Act. The Medicaid cuts are unnecessarily hurting poor Georgians daily. I see it in my work as a hospice director every day. He is taking a political stance just because he does not want to go along with something President Obama put in place--at the expense of Georgia's most vulnerable citizens. Several red state governors in the US have reneged on their stance against accepting the money. We need to call on Governor Deal to do the same thing---accept the Medicaid money! This is NOT a new thing--we already accept federal Medicaid money. These funds will only work to improve Georgia's healthcare.

Why are we afraid to tax the rich equally and why are we afraid to our war funding? I am a Grand Rapids Dominican Sister from Michigan, am retired and see families struggling. I live on fixed income and am grateful for my help from social services. Why should some people be shut out from this help. There are so many why's that people are floating around. We have lost hope in our government. Taking recesses from your jobs, is not a noble thing to do. What are your reasons. When I was working, I did not take recesses, nor should you. Fema is 8 years later taking the income taxes of victims from Katrina , Rita, and Wilma. They are not giving fair warning or chances to appeal. They are taking finds from petsonal accounts and IRS refunds.

Sometimes, we elect statewide officials who have veered too far from their what they said in their campaign, who are incompetent, or have simply changed parties. We need to be able to recall elected offials at will after one year in office.

The nation is tired of wasting both time and money in matters of government being obstructed by disgruntled legislators who's only objective is to hold the country hostage to their bitter objections and destructive agenda.
