  • Abolish the Electoral College.
Since our country has experienced elections in which the victorious candidate has lost the popular vote and yet won the Electoral College, it seems that the voice of the majority of Americans is not heard. Most recently, in 2000, Vice Priesident Albert Gore was denied the presidency in such a manner. Few would disagree that our country would be far better had he been elected. The Electoral College seems to favor the least populous (red) states, and it is time to show the world that we are a true democracy by simply doing away with this antiquated system. . 801669162693

  • Time for democracy.
It's time for real democracy in America. People need to hear the voices of candidates that don't simply represent corporate party "A" or "B ." All legitimate candidates for president need to be given a real forum to express their views so that a wider dialog about national issues can be heard.

  • Politicians - come back to DC and do your jobs!
As a federal employee, I come to work everyday, and work hard to accomplish the job that I was hired to do. Why can't our elected officials be expected to do the same?

  • Enough is Enough
Speaker of the house John Boehner has done extremely little to nothing to cooperate with the American people or the President in helping it's citizens. He has shown himself to be incompetent and unwilling in this regard. I'd like to see him voted out of office.

  • Vote OUT any legislator/Senator that doesn't vote to end the Fiscal Cliff
Republican or Democrat doesn't matter. They need to be taught that they are representing ALL Americans. This affects each and every tax paying citizen in this country. I'm tired of these politicians trying to vote to get reelected and not what's important to us everyday folks. How about not spending more than we have and taking care of the the people that need help!

  • Means test tax deductability of political contributions.
I am a public school teacher. I attempt to get children of poor families mental health services on a frequent basis. It is almost impossible due to the lack of services available in the community. The support for students with mental illness inside of schools has been cut due to the neglect of congress to fully fund IDEA and NCLB. As a nation and a community we need to confront this injustice. A different way to stop a mentally ill bad guy is to get him the help he needs before he does something horrible. This starts with funding the frontline of public education. With limited funds, why should the public subsidize the political contributions of the 1%?

  • impeach Speaker of the house
We the American people need a Speaker of the House that is willing to work for the American people not his own personal agenda. We are all facing financial ruin if he doesn't get serious and fix the fiscal cliff.

  • Avoid the Fiscal Cliff: Suspend the Majority of the Majority Rule in the U.S. House of Representa...
Because of the Majority of the Majority Rule, the Speaker of the House of Representatives can block the full House of Representatives of the United States Congress from voting on legislation if the Majority Party will not win the vote. In today's world that means that John Boehner (Speaker of the House), will not allow the house to vote on existing Senate legislation that would avert the Fiscal Cliff and might pass the House of Representatives with a coalition of Democrats and Republicans, because it would not pass with just Republicans voting alone (the Majority of the Majority Rule). This rule perverts the intention of compromise and prevents our elected representatives from doing the people's business. This rule destroys the mechanism of democracy. In the past other House Speakers have presented bills despite the Majority of the Majority Rule, it's time for John Boehner to show that he is not just a Republican, but first and foremost; an American, and let the House vote to avoid the Fiscal Cliff.

  • Stop all Lobbying
The main reason the American people have lost the dedication of their elected officials is because WE are allowing them to take money from soemone other then us. If we are to take control of our government and make them work for us we MUST make it illegal for them to accept any money at all from outside sources. We have no way of knowing who's giving them money or how much their giving them. For all we know foriegn countrys could be setting up "straw" donations and gettin what they want.

  • Work for pay and benefits
Our leaders have been incompetent in working on issues that effect Americans. their work ethic should include that they cannot leave Washington until their work is finished and if they do there should be repercussions like there are for other Americans
