As someone who suffered through two years of chronic back pain while I searched for insurance to cover the necessary surgery, I can testify that our healthcare system doesn't work. Lack of healthcare ruins lives and destroys families. The petition asks that the same healthcare enjoyed by our elected officials is provided as an affordable option to every resident of the state. If our elected officials don't think this issue is important enough to demand action, let them walk a mile in the shoes of the under and uninsured. Let them forfeit their own affordable healthcare, and we'll see how quickly their minds change.

Stop the gridlock. Please reform the filibuster rule so it does NOT require 60 votes to get anything done in the Senate.

Current filibuster rules are interfering with our democracy

Ending vote rigging, voter identification laws, unverifiable electronic voting practices and election fraud. Let's give ourselves the right to vote, it's time for true universal suffrage.

Congress needs to see what it feels like to be in the shoes of the average American Citizen. They have misused and abused their power far to long. We as Americans need to take a stand against those that have repeatedly used and abused this power, and endanger our way of life.

During the campaign the President relentlessly spoke about the fairness of the upper middle class paying more taxes. Many people in this group that I know are dedicated individulas who work long hours almost 7 days a week for more than 30 years! So, I am asking the President to show fairness to these citizens and the needy among us by being prudent in spending peoples hard earned money,

The filibuster rules in the U.S. Senate stand in the way of everything we, as MoveOn members, want for the country. Let's pressure the Senate Democrats to revise the filibuster rules on January 3, 2013 (by simple majority) to ensure that EVERY legislation or court/cabinet appointment going forward ULTIMATELY gets an up-or-down vote. This change will restore SOME semblance of democracy in an institution that has only 10% public approval. Republicans should support this reform as well. If elections are won fairly by one party or the other, the agenda supported by that majority party (either Democrat or Republican) should be voted on and, if approved and implemented, the results of that legislation can then be fairly judged by US voters in future elections.

The effects of unlimited money in our electoral politics is tearing the fabric of our democratic republic. The Constitution amended, seems to be the only feasible solution.

Liz Warren has a job to do on Capitol Hill and Democrats need to support her appointment to the Senate Banking Committee. Bank and Insurance Lobby are contacting Democrat Senators to block her appointment.
