    No one has been able to explain to me why young men and women serve in the U.S. Military for 20 years, risking their lives protecting freedom, and only get 50% of their pay as pension. Politicians hold their political positions in the safe confines of the capitol, protected by these same men and women, and receive full pay retirement after serving one term. It just does not make any sense.

  • Pay Cuts for Congress and the White House
    This is about being fair. The government wants to reduce the entitlement programs for seniors and the poor. I am retired and for as much as I put into these programs while working and can hardly get by on what I receive. If we have to feel the pain then Congress and the White House should show the country that we are all in this together. It is easy to pass the cuts to the most vulnerable in our society and not have skin in the game.

    People should be concerned about the obstructive behavior of the House, in particular, the Republican party. They have not legislated anything for four years and it has to stop.     With the need to project an image of power, believing that this will act to protect the U.S., we have allowed the military mindset and our military response machinery to determine our foreign policies. If we gird for WAR, we will respond with WAR, rather than restraint and wisdom. President Dwight Eisenhower warned of the power of the military industrial complex. If peace WERE PROFITABLE we would have peace! We need a cabinet-level Department of Peace. Ohio Representative Dennis Kucinich should be named as its head!
