• Campaign Phone Calls Need Regulation
I have received 3 phone calls a week for the last 8 weeks from my local Democratic campaign office. I can't imagine what it must be like if in a swing state! The calls border harassment when you've asked to be removed, but continue to receive calls. According to the office official, there are multi-databases with my information and no way to be removed from them. We need a federal law mandating campaign's manage their databases, and like with the unsubscribe option on campaign emails, remove yourself from these phone calls.

  • Lie in Office: Go to Jail
It is a given in our political system that politicians are liars. Why is that? We are facing critical problems, unprecedented problems, and yet our office holders and office seekers routinely lie in order to promote the agendas of people who seek, mainly, personal profit at the cost of the nation. We are at a point where lying politicians can literally destroy the future of our country, and indeed the world. I'm calling for mandatory jail time for office seekers and office holders who make any misstatement of fact, of any kind, in a campaign or in office. Lying should be illegal. Lying in public office is treason.

  • TRUE VOTER’S CHOICE: Add “None of the Above’ to Federal Election Ballots
Over time, I have heard a great number of people express dissatisfaction with most of the presidential and congressional candidates presented by both major parties. Many did, and do, not bother to vote for this reason. Others still felt that it was their civic duty to participate in elections, but often lacked enthusiasm for most candidates. Their justification to choose one opponent over another was, and often still is, one of two mantras: 1. “I choose the lesser of two evils” or 2. “I rather elect the devil I know than the devil I don’t” Unfortunately, candidates believe that in order to get the most votes they must please all people. They try to not offend anyone by tailoring their campaign speeches and slogans to different audiences and telling them what they want to hear, taking no clear stand on any issue. This leads to parties selecting their most mediocre candidates. Voters are faced with the dilemma of being forced to pick someone with whom they cannot identify or empathize. The result is one of the lowest voter turnouts of all democracies and the winning candidates often not representing The People – thus, in the long run threatening our Democracy. Adding an additional row at the bottom of each candidate box on ballots for federal elections (president and congress) stating “None of the Above” gives voters the choice to reject all listed candidates. By giving voters this alternative, they can show their displeasure with the current antiquated system. A “win” of “None of the Above” will create an impasse that should compel politicians to reform it by creating a new, viable and fair system that is approved by the American people and gives them a broader and just choice in selecting its representatives.

  • Save the Social Security system.
I'm 74 years old, disabled, totally dependent on Social Security and a small pension. I will be unable to stay in my house if there is any cut to my Social Security - I won't be at all 'secure', and neither will the disabled veterans who put their lives on the line for this country., nor the poor (mostly children) who are literally starving.

  • Who Benefits From Millions Spent of Campaign
This election has garnered more millions than any other to support candidates running for office. All the candidates talk about caring about the people of the United States while spending great amounts of money to "call each other names" in the national Media. This needs to change. FOR EVERY $5.00 A CAMPAIGN RECEIVES THEY SHOULD BE DONATING $2.00 TOWARDS A "COMMON GOOD" CAUSE.

  • Make lies in political ads illegal in all states
When Americans apply for a job, falsifying information on the job application is grounds for firing. Lying on your resume is also grounds for dismissal. Therefore, candidates for political office should not be permitted to campaign based on lies. Individuals wishing to be considered for political office should be required to define their platform, detail their plans and ideas, and defend their position with facts. Political candidates are required to 'approve' political ads, but they are not required to be honest in those ads. The American public has a right to the truth and is entitled to be able to consider the facts presented by all candidates, and to be confident that they are receiving factual information prior to casting their vote. Lying to the American public in order to garner votes for political office is unethical and should be illegal.

  • Our Congressional Science Committee Should Understand Science!
We have lawmakers without the most basic understandings of science itself who are serving on our Congressional Committee on Science. How can we ever scientifically advance as a country with legislators like this?

  • An End to Gerrymandering
Voters should select their representatives, not the other way around. The two political parties have made a complete mess of our electoral process by corrupting it at its foundation. In an effort to make elections more about which side has the better ideas and to reduce the political divide in our country, I propose that the power to create voting districts be taken away from whatever partisan faction is in control and that voting districts be created by a "jury" of citizens tasked with creating political voting districts with only raw population data, no voter registration information, to work with.

  • Federal Election Reporting by Major Media (Projections)
Every four years the major media outlets have declared the winners in Federal elections before the polls in California, Alaska and Hawaii close. The votes in those states are marginalized by the already declared winner. There should be a election law that Major Media Outlets are prohibited from making any national projection until the polls in these western states are closed. They can report present, official vote totals when that individual state poll closes, but no national projection on the next President of the United States. (or lessor federal office)
